I, GayPatriot

February 20, 2005 by GayPatriot

Jeez, I’m away for a week for work and suddenly there is a twitter of speculation here and here that Christian Grantham may be GayPatriot. Let me say unequivocally that is not the case. Christian addresses the whole thing on his site as well. Anyone who is a serious reader of our blogs can’t possibly think we are the same person anyway. That is just silly.

Let me remind folks that I have addressed my background before, once in this very early posting. I’ll add a couple of more items that should prove I’m not Christian Grantham. I have been a life-long registered Republican voter since I turned 18 years old. I am also in my late 30s. I don’t know how old Christian is, but I’m guessing I have a few years on him.

Here’s the best part about this…. neither one of these speculators has contacted either Christian or I directly to ask us. So it makes the wild-eyed Oliver Stone routine even more laughable.

And now here is the story of how Christian came to be the registered user of GayPatriot.org and .net….

Christian already touched on it in his posting, but I’d like to give you my perspective.

As my early postings (circa 9/2004) show, I knew little if anything about blogging, or html code when I began this endeavor. Although I’ve learned a little about it along the way, I am still like a blind man in a paper bag when it comes to anything about computers. I contacted Christian, found out what he did for a living, and asked if I could be a client.

I also asked him permission to use his name when I registed GayPatriot.org and .net. Part of the “mystique” of this blog is my anonymity. It is also symbolic of my campaign against “forced outings” by Michael Rogers and John Aravosis.

It is as simple as that. So, the answer GayOrbit, is in fact your Number One option. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

So, I have a question: Why would Christian, a gay man who is often critical of the Bush Administration, facilitate the publication of a Web log that, for the most part, acts as an apologist for nearly every anti-gay policy of the that administration?

Again, it makes as about as much sense as Charles Johnson publishing DailyKos.

I only see three options really:

1. Christian Grantham is just helping out a blogger whose opinions he does not agree with on most issues – a blog that practically excuses all the anti-gay behavior of the Bush Administration that Christian routinely harshly criticizes

2. Christian Grantham and GayPatriot are one in the same

3. Christian facilitates GayPatriot?s blog because he actually secretly agrees with GP?s opinions

I simply don?t believe option number one. As a rule, people don?t help people who work against them – especially if they?re passionate about their causes. They don?t.

But sometimes in this cynical world of ours, people do still believe in promoting the entire marketplace of ideas — and don’t believe everyone, and every Republican, is out to put gays in concentration camps.

Let me address a point in Sturtle’s post — my advertising on Men’s News Daily. Apparently there is some connection with the now infamous Talon News. Well, that’s news to me. Here’s the story on that… someone at MND emailed me, said they liked the site, told me to check out their advertising rates, and I thought it seemed like a good place to get traffic. Sure enough, my GP ad on MDD has one of the best response rates, and MDD gets a lot of daily visitors. Pretty simple math. I also have a “prominent” ad on Roger L. Simon’s website… does that make me a closet mystery novelist/screenwriter???

Perhaps the true issue here is that the gay liberal establishment, unlike folks like Christian Grantham, can’t possibly fathom one fundamental principle at work here — CAPITALISM. As I said before, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
