News From Iraq Roundup

August 25, 2005 by Bruce Carroll

Here’s some stuff about the Iraqi Theatre in the War on Terror that you won’t see in the MainStreamMedia…..

Outstanding “on-the-ground” embedded blogger coverage of the war on terror in Iraq by Michael Yon: Gates of Fire – August 25

High Re-enlistment Rates In Combat Units (of our ALL VOLUNTEER Armed Forces) – LittleGreenFootballs

If you truly “support the troops” then put your money where your mouth is. I donated $250 earlier this week to Soldiers’ Angels.

But here are the actions of some of the “support the troops, hate the policy” crowd…. Anti-War Protests Target Wounded at Army Hospital – Crosswalk.com (I at least hope there were no rainbow flags in the group!)

THIS is a grieving mother protesting the war? Hmmmm. Looks more like somebody on the set of a motion picture…. (Photo taken at “Camp Casey” in Crawford, TX)

President Speaks on War on Terror (full text at link) – WhiteHouse.gov

Our nation is engaged in a global war on terror that affects the safety and security of every American. In Iraq, Afghanistan and across the world, we face dangerous enemies who want to harm our people, folks who want to destroy our way of life.

There are few things in life more difficult than seeing a loved one go off to war. And here in Idaho, a mom named Tammy Pruett — (applause) — I think she’s here — (laughter) — knows that feeling six times over. (Applause.) Tammy has four sons serving in Iraq right now with the Idaho National Guard — Eric, Evan, Greg and Jeff. Last year, her husband Leon and another son, Eren, returned from Iraq, where they helped train Iraqi firefighters in Mosul. Tammy says this — and I want you to hear this — “I know that if something happens to one of the boys, they would leave this world doing what they believe, what they think is right for our country. And I guess you couldn’t ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in.” America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts.

Why shell out money when you can harrass them at the hospital for free?

After all, harrassing them is the same as supporting them, right?

Good post, Bruce. I hope the LibLefty radicals running the anti-war movement continue on their current course: the poster Mom who can’t be controlled ala WeScream4HowieDean and the whacked protesters using the wounded soldiers to harness public opinion. The LibLefties are cutting their own throats and it’s important to remind the Silent Majority and Reagan Democrats that these political thugs don’t represent the mainstream views.

    Again, good post!

Cindy Sheehan (a.k.a. St. Joan of Crawford) couldn’t have done more to discredit the anti-war movement if she were a Karl Rove plant. Let’s review her performance since moving to that ditch in Crawford.

    1. Accused U.S. Troops of murdering Iraqi civilians — Check
    2. Called enemy terrorists “freedom fighters” — Check
    3. Stated that America was “morally repugnant” and “not worth dying for” — Check
    4. Said that the war was for Israel amd the U.S. Government was controlled by Israel — Check
    5. Called Bush a Nazi — Check
    6. Generally conveyed the impression that even though it was her son who died, it was all about her — Check
    7. Implied that 9-11 was the work of the Bush Admin and not al Qaeda — Check
    8. Got the media and the anti-war left to rally around her deranged, America-bashing, anti-semitic rantings — Check

Oh, and number 9 is a big one:

Got David Duke and the Nazi Racists of StormFront to Rally to the anti-war cause

Our purpose in journeying to the Crawford protest against Bush’s Neocon War for Israel is to:

Let The World Know That White Patriots
Were First & Loudest To Protest This War For Israel

Tammy Faye Bakker makes more sense than GWB. This man simply does not get it (or almost anything). Where’s the Iraqi constitution that he was touting only weeks ago? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? (Isn’t it getting kind of old to repeat this mindless mantra?) Do more Middle Easterners hate us now than at 9/11? YOU BET. So this war against a soveriegn nation, a generally passive people, and dethroning a dictator has accomplished what? Imports of terrorists from throughout the Mideast to defend the honor of a sovereign people — to offset our “export” of freedom and democracy. They’re not singing our praises, and I have no doubt as to why. In Iraq, WE’RE the terrorist. Some al Qaeda freaks from Afghanistan may have started this quagmire, but guess who upped the ante, and still hasn’t a clue four years later. I’m sorry, GWB, that Hussein tried to have your father killed 15 years ago, but must everyone else pay in order for you to have your revenge? This is WORSE than VIETNAM. At least it wasn’t a personal vendetta. Iraq is nothing more than GWB getting back at Hussein’s for his efforts to assasinate HWB. Like Pat Robertson asks: Wouldn’t it have been better to simply assisinate Hussein rather than terrorize a whole country (not that I ever agree with Robertson, but if you’re going to use his fallacious reasoning, it makes more sense in Iraq than it does in Venezeula)? Instead, the U.S. is terrorizing a soveriegn third-world nation for no other reason than GWB’s personal agenda, and it sickens me. Cindy may be looney, but 60% of America is not.

    Stephen-

    Nice shotgun blast.

If you want a serious response, try picking any one of those eighteen points, and devoting a full paragraph to it.

Really? What, then, was the reason when the “democrats” demanded lord BJ do something about the WMDs and imminent threat from Iraq? Seriously. I want to know. So far, I haven’t found any liberals with the stones to answer that question.

Cindy may be looney, but 60% of America is not.

And if you believe that spin, you’re loonier than she is.

    Oh, BTW:

What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? (Isn’t it getting kind of old to repeat this mindless mantra?)

If you don’t know by now, you’ll never get your head out of Fat Bastards folds and find out. Pity. One more blind, deaf and dumb idiot.

At this point, I now feel that she’s actually responsible for her own son’s death. Seems to me that Casey ran from his mother’s insanity – like many normal kids do when suffocated by extremist parents – straight into the arms of the military. And now he’s dead. I think all this protesting is just her way of coping with the guilt of having killed her own son. Face it, Cindy, the President didn’t “kill” Casey, YOU DID. And you should face a military tribunal for killing a U.S soldier during war time and face the consequences if found guilty.

Sucks when the “logic” is turned on its head against you, doesn’t it, “Mom”???

Here’s the best line I’ve seen all day.

    In Iraq, WE’RE the terrorist.

Sure, if you believe CNN, Michael Moore, and Scott Ritter.

However, as Bridget Johnson has been showing over the past two weeks (and I’ve been reporting), the Iraqis already know what terror looks like.

Cindy Sheehan’s “freedom fighters” are planning to bring that back. That’s why they’re not “singing our praises” — we deprived them of their ability to have killed anyone who disagreed with them, to have their families murdered or imprisoned, to have their villages leveled, or to destroy their entire way of life, a la the Marsh Arabs.

That’s what your “sovereign nation” was, Stephen. That’s what happened to your “passive people”. That’s what the “honor” of your “freedom fighters” looked like.

You and your fellow crypto-leftists can’t even admit it happened.

While I don’t agree with the woman’s statements, the picture is a bit unfair.

George W. Bush goes through the exact same thing and more every time he appears in front of a camera too. How impressed would you be to see your CIF getting his hair done with a curling iron? Don’t think it doesn’t happen.

#5 – Great list, V! 🙂 I love the contradiction between your points 4 and 5. “Bush is a Nazi” claims the Left, yet “Bush is controlled by Israel”. Wake up, crazies. A person can’t be both. Just like no one can be BOTH a dolt and an evil genius, at the same time. A is A; not-A is not-A.

#8 – Wow Stephen, you’ve come out of the closet as a nutcase. I’ve been wondering what your basic philosophical orientation is for some time; thanks for clearing up that question.

#11 – glisteny – I think your tongue was in cheek; just checking to make sure. 🙂

Yes, of course it was, Joe. But I do wonder if Casey had some kind of severe reaction to his radical mom’s politics that drove him to the military. Seems like a strange path for the kid of a whacked-out hippie to take. As if Jerry Garcia’s daughter became a Wall Street broker, you know?

Anyhow, it doesn’t matter. He’s still a hero and she’s still not.
