Gay Lefty Loses Bush-Bashing Bid for NYC Borough Prez

September 14, 2005 by Bruce Carroll

Awww…. too bad.

Chad (Cake or Death) has all the details.

Chad expresses surprise. Not me. All politics is local andMr. Ellner forgot that. So now he is a loser. (But, a cute loser. —GPW)

Fir a young guy to have such a good showing in a primary is quite laudable. Oh, I forgot, this is “the glass is half empty” circle jerk.

And Chad, I LOVE THE PICTURE of you on your website. It looks like you are eating your ownhead.

But is the head half empty or half full?

It’s true that all politics are local, but bashing Bush to the people of Manhattan (regardless of the fact he was only running for borough pres.) who seem to be utterly blind to the distinction between federal and local governments… I just figured he would’ve gotten more than 11% of the vote.

He was preaching to a rather large choir.

Sorry Chandler… It’s not my picture. Just some random guy with cake on his face.

I hope the lighting is up to your standards though.

I love your “glass is half empty” observation too, Chan.

As if the Left is world renowned for it’s never-ending optimism….

Chandler, not that I’d every expect you (or anybody for that matter) to defend Reader, I just love the irony that he just recently made this statement regarding Talabani: “it’s hard to join the Pollyanna Parade here in talking about “all the good news” in Iraq”
So losing (badly) a race for your circle-jerk is good news (hello, Paul Hackett!), but a freely-elected Iraqi president is fodder for Pollyannas.

#3 – #4 – Chandler’s comments here are always rich with unintended irony and hypocrisy. As today, most of the time he only wants to use words to hurt. I guess it gives him a sense of having some kind of agency or personal potency.

He must be feeling really powerless or impotent, in all the other parts of his life.

He doesn’t ever seem to catch on how obvious, and therefore weak, his efforts are. (For example, in today’s case, trying to accuse the gay pro-American community of negativism in a comment that (1) is obviously false, (2) has as its only purpose or reason for being the expression or venting of Chandler’s chronic, deep negativism.)

For those who don’t live in NY and missed the Ellner’s commercial, it consisted of Bush-bashing, 9/11 references and ended with “and this is my partner”.

Everytime I saw the commercial, I thought one thing:

No way would a straight candidate end a commercial with “and this is my wife”. The way Ellner did it, one got the impression that being gay was the reason he thought you should vote for him.

How interesting that most Patsies choose to focus on the gay guy who LOST the Manhattan Beep’s spot, rather than rejoicing for the gay guy who WON the Democratic nomination last night (and thus will be the Borough President) — Scott Stringer. Now who’s working with a glass half full?

As to #6 & #7: I understand you taking my comments out of context, for it’s a good way to make it appear to others that you’ve won an argument. I’d expect no more from you.

Oh, Reader. Do you really think that what you expect of me has any import?

  12. njz says

    September 14, 2005 at 3:37 pm - September 14, 2005

I will concede, by the way that the stretch I made (between Reader and Chandler) was a tenuous one.
However, it did go to prove a point about who (the Right or the Left) is more pessimistic…that it was so easy to find an example of the Left’s glass-half-empty prism goes to the point, I think.
By the way, I didn’t know the other guy is also gay. Hmm…maybe this tells us somthing about throwing it in the electorate’s face? Wonder if gay politicians will learn that lesson?

    September 14, 2005 at 4:17 pm - September 14, 2005

Um….I think the reason you didn’t know about it, njz, was because, if Scott Stringer is gay, he does an excellent job of hiding it.Indeed, there was a huge flap this summer when the Gay and Lesbian Independent Democrats and local moonbat gay politico Tom Duane endorsed Stringer, mainly because there were gay candidates in the race and Stringer apparently wasn’t one of them.

  14. njz says

    September 14, 2005 at 4:22 pm - September 14, 2005

    Wait a second….
A gay and lesbian Democratic political group went out of its way to specifically endorse a candidate because (they thought) he isn’t gay? Or was Reader just mistaken in saying Stringer’s gay?
I’ve never been one to endorse anybody based on his being gay, but that’s kooky.
Did I misunderstand your post, or is NYC that effed up?

  15. Chad says

Yeah, I’m not so certain about the cute thing either. He seems far too smug to resist slapping once or twice to great personal satisfaction.

I love that his partner’s name is Simon.

Anyone named Simon is unequivocally gay. It’s a pink sentence at birth for parents to name their child Simon.

I feel sorry for Chandler’s students. I’ve always hated lecture and if I had a teacher who pontificates the way Chandler posts…..

What about Josh? When I was living in Houston, I knew about 8 Josh’s. There were only two, as far as I know, who were gay, three that I wished were gay, and the others I wasn’t certain about.

#20 — I don’t know if I feel sorry for them. chandler reminds me of the dippy English teacher at my high school who would cancel a quiz if we just said, “Aw, c’mon, we have a Physics test next period.” (And never questioned how we could have four Physics tests in one week.) Also, he later got busted for selling pot to students.

… and then there was my sophomore Advaned Biology teacher who tended to grade more “leniently” if you wore tight jeans, loose shorts, and/or occasionally “unself-consciously” flashed a little nipple in class period.

Guys – Don’t you remember a thread we had on some liberal racist’s (perhaps a senator’s) slam on Condi Rice, awhile back?

Chandler boasted how he also tells racist Condi Rice jokes to his students in Watts – and thereby earns their “trust”.

I told Chandler he was not helping them to be better people, and was repulsive. (And still think that.)

And it’s quite precious that he believes that… and doesn’t suspect for a moment what a joke he is to them; like any other middle-aged white teacher trying to play cool.

Joe. Sorry. I meant Helen Thomas. I don’t know how to post links here, but if you look at GP’s blog entry on Aug. 3 titled First Cloned Dog Named “Snuppy,” it’s there.

Actually, I see all the comments there were deleted. But I’m pretty sure that’s where the equally tasteless Condoleezza Rice jokes were.
