Liberals Take Principle Over Money
Hey, you have to admire that right? Anyway, I thought you’d all enjoy this email exchange….

Sent: Fri, 16 Sep 2005I’m disappointed… but not surprised. Open minds are a rare commodity in the gay community these days.
I am the one who is sorry for you.

Subject: Ad Rejection ExplanationI am sorry, but I am rejecting the BlogAd you submitted to my site. I am a proud liberal, and your site goes against a lot of what I believe in. While I’m not trying to censor you, I don’t believe carrying your ad on my site is appropriate either.
Thanks anyway.

Example 5,698,995 of Liberalism’s glowing pride for showing open-mined tolerance towards other ideals and beliefs
Liberalism=Collective Bigotry.

I’m not censoring you, just supressing what you have to say.

As a conservative (both you and I), isn’t this an example of the free market? You shouldn’t be whining.
Comment by Gregg — September 16, 2005 @ 9:30 am - September 16, 2005
Absolutely this is the free market! Just as this blog is a forum for “free marketplace” of ideas… including illustrating this example.
Comment by GayPatriot — September 16, 2005 @ 9:39 am - September 16, 2005
Absolutely it’s the free market. Scott-O is free to refuse any ad he wants. And we are free to point out what a close-minded bigot he is for doing so. Like most bigots, he is confused and frightened by ideas that don’t square with his dogma. And is even more threatened by the possibility that some of his followers, if exposed to alternative ideas, might agree with them.

If I has a blog, I wouldn’t carry your add either. Your ad implies that being liberal is anti-american. It’s offensive.
Comment by Michael — September 16, 2005 @ 10:21 am - September 16, 2005
If liberals want to stop being seen as anti-Anerican, they should stop doing things like elevating a ranting, anti-semitic, America-hating nutjob like Cindy Sheehan to the forefront of their movement. They should stop rooting for our enemies. They should stop comparing people who disagree with them to Nazis, and stop comparing the president to Hitler. They should stop trying to use the courts to push forward a social agenda most Americans do not agree with. And they should stop disrespecting, ridiculing, and vilifying that part of America that resides between the narrow strips of blue that line the east and and west coasts.

Liberals might also take a good, hard, honest look at themselves and ask, “Why is our rhetoric increasingly indistinguishable from that of David Duke, Fred Phelps, and the neo-Nazis of stromfront-dot-org.”
Comment by V the K — September 16, 2005 @ 10:46 am - September 16, 2005
On second thought, my comment #8 applies more to the far-left fringe than the liberal mainstream, but I stand by my comment #7.
Comment by V the K — September 16, 2005 @ 10:49 am - September 16, 2005
It really is nice to see a liberal take principle over money….when so many (at least in the Democratic Party and the Gay Left) so frequently take money over principle.

#6 — Seems to me you are projecting. My ad doesn’t imply that at all. Unless the shoe fits.
Comment by GayPatriot — September 16, 2005 @ 11:52 am - September 16, 2005
It is more than refusing the advert. It was that he had to tell you that he was refusing it. It speaks volumes about who he is.

#5 VdaK, how is “And we are free to point out what a close-minded bigot he is for doing so” different from the KThyN activists posting the names and addresses of anti-gay marriage Massachusettonians to draw to attention of the gay community in local settings “bigots” in their backyard?
Just wondering; not wanting a fight.

I agree with V above. The libs censor, but we have free and open discussion. Cheers to this blog for encouraging all chatters — much better than FR in that sense. We’re a little light on loony libs right now, but they’ll be back because they know this is one of the few conservative blogs that will tolerate their rants.

#13 — Mainly because we’re not publishing his personal information for the particular purpose of inviting harassment.
Comment by V the K — September 16, 2005 @ 1:07 pm - September 16, 2005
And, adding to my number 7, maybe liberals wouldn’t be perceived as anti-American if they weren’t going around all the time whining about how embarrassed they are to be Americans (especially around Europeans.)
Comment by V the K — September 16, 2005 @ 1:19 pm - September 16, 2005
Your ad implies that being liberal is anti-american. It’s offensive.
And yet there’s barely any evidence to the contrary. THAT should be what offends you.
Comment by ThatGayConservative — September 16, 2005 @ 6:02 pm - September 16, 2005
And we all know how anti-American he was!
Comment by Scott-O-Rama — September 18, 2005 @ 4:37 am - September 18, 2005
So, they way a left-liberal answers criticism is… with a total non-sequitur.
Comment by V the K — September 18, 2005 @ 1:47 pm - September 18, 2005
I have a question- Can you please show me a right-winged Pro-life website that will allow ads from Planned Parenthood?? The liberals aren’t the only ones who are closed-minded!
Comment by David — September 18, 2005 @ 4:59 pm - September 18, 2005
David:
If you ever go check out NRO, you’ll see ads there for the likes of the ACLU: Definitely not the typical NR reader.
I suppose a fair question would be, Would Bruce put up an ad for, say, Huffington, or MoveOn?
Comment by ColoradoPatriot — September 18, 2005 @ 8:21 pm - September 18, 2005
NRO has also put up ads for the NEA and CAIR.
Comment by V the K — September 19, 2005 @ 8:00 am - September 19, 2005
No. 20, what a silly thing to shout out here at Hypocrisy Headquarters.
Comment by Queer Patriot — September 19, 2005 @ 10:48 pm - September 19, 2005
Just from reading this blog alone, I am beginning to think Republicans have some real anger and hostility issues!
Comment by Gary — September 20, 2005 @ 1:50 am - September 20, 2005
We all do, Gary. We all do. And the denizens of Gay Patriot are no different. They only think so.
