Every year, the Human Rights Campaign (you know, that “bi-partisan” gay organization) issues a report card on corporate America’s treatment of their GLBT employees. The report ranks companies on seven criteria:
1. Include “sexual orientation” in the non-discrimination policy…
2. Include “gender identity and/or expression” in the non-discrimination policy…
3. Offer health insurance coverage to employees’ same-sex domestic partners company-wide…
4. Officially recognize and support a GLBT employee resource group…
5. Offer diversity training that includes sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the workplace…
6. Engage in respectful and appropriate marketing to the GLBT community…
7. Do NOT engage in corporate actions that undermine the goal of equal rights for GLBT people…
In 2005, 101 companies scored a perfect 100% on the index.
I am pleased to say, I work for one of those companies.
Full press release can be found here.

Oooh, my company scored 100% as well.
Not really a surprise though. Since realizing I’m gay, my boss has been nudging me towards building a LGBT client base by directly marketing to the community and creating a client presentation individualized towards LGBT needs (er, whatever those may be. Still not entirely sure how gay finances are different from straight ones).
ME…ME!! It’s all about ME!!
What a cheap piece of shit blog this is, just to further some right wing queens concept of self hate.

Monty: Do you have anything constructive to say? And how self-loathing is it to continue to hang around (and spend your time commenting on a blog you have so little respect for?
Bruce,
Are you bi or just partisan?

Well, there is the Gay Financial Network.
Why are you pleased? Because your employer is approved of by the HRC(F), an organization that you regularly and justifiably deride on the pages of this blog? I’m always delighted to see corporations making progressive moves when their motivation is free market economics. On the other hand, HRC(F)’s “seven criterion” send Orwellian shudders through me. “Offer diversity training that includes sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the workplace…”? Sounds like mind-neutering liberal propaganda training. “Do NOT engage in corporate actions that undermine the goal of equal rights for GLBT people…”? That last one could mean just about anything to the HRC(F) from abortion rights to endangered species. And where does a non-profit organization come off telling for-profit businesses how to run their affairs?
Sorry if my heart doesn’t swell up with pride because your company meets with the withering approval of the self-appointed doyens at the HRC(F).
