Was There A Terrorist Attack At Univ. of Okla.?

October 4, 2005 by GayPatriot

It appears the mainstream media has ignored a potentially important story that took place this weekend.

A suicide bomber on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

The FBI is continuing its investigation of the death of OU mechanical engineering junior Joel Henry Hinrichs III, who died in an explosion about 100 yards away from a packed Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

NewsBusters says we aren’t getting the full story from former Democrat Senator, now OU Prez David Boren.

University of Oklahoma President David Boren seems determined to have everybody believe Joel Henry Hinrichs III was merely a disturbed young man who decided to commit suicide by blowing himself up within 100 yards of a stadium containing 84,000 screaming fans of Sooner football.

Sorry, I don’t buy it, at least not yet. Here’s why: First, The Daily Oklahoman is reporting authorities found a large cache of bomb-making materials in Hinrichs’ apartment. The cache is so big that the Oklahoman quoted one of the officials on the scene as estimating a full 24 hours would be required to cart away all of the material.

Suicide victims don’t normally accumulate a large amount of bomb-making material in their homes. People intent on blowing up other people do.

How soon we forget that the Al-Qaeda handbook instructs followers to hit such “soft targets” in their War Against America like shopping malls and sports stadiums. (Read here and here.)

Even if there is no terror-related reason for this incident, why is our “mainstream” media ignoring this event in the context of our War on Terror?

I’m content to believe this guy was a lone nut unless a connection to a terrorist group — like CAIR — shows up. Hell, I felt like blowing myself up after Michigan blew a 16 -2 lead to lose to Wisconsin a couple Saturdays ago. 😉

I’ve read about it mostly in “”mainstream sources.” I don’t recall seing much about it on Fox news, newsmax.com or cnsnews.com beyond what was in the “mainstream sources.”

Because it’s too early to make that kind of a judgment call? Remember that the Oklahoma City Bombing was originally blamed on Islamic Terrorists, a claim that was false. At that time the media got blamed for jumping to conclusions, now you are blaming them for exercising caution. With suspicions of a vast Democratic conspiracy to boot. Really, Bruce, sometimes I wonder just what it is you are putting on your cornflakes in the morning.

Wait, I thought we went to Iraq so we don’t fight them at home?

Whether or not it is a terror cell, this does disturbingly sound like a suicide bomber. I suppose we will see more of this sort of thing. I guess “going postal” is so 1990s.

It doesn’t sound like a suicide bomber if he left all that unexploded bomb making material at home.

Bruce, I think your hunch may be right, I live in Norman, and that area the guy lived in is heavily muslim, the mosque is lessthan a block away and the rumor in town is that the guy had a Pakistani room mate who is missing. The authorities here are notoriously tight lipped because of the university but I sense a major story underlying this whole thing. Keep digging and if I hear any more I’ll let you know. Oh another reason they might be tight lipped is fear of local backlash, 5 of the 9-11 guys tried to take pilot training here and I have always wondered at the connection that told them about our school. It’s more than a bit disturbing.

Glenn Reynolds links to the story and states that the guy attended the same mosque as Zacarias Moussaoui.

Logically, it could NOT have been a terrorist suicide bomber. The whole reason we are fighting a war in Iraq is so that we don’t have to fight them over here, thus sayeth W. Bush. IT follows that since we ARE fighting them in Iraq, we cannot be fighting them here. Therefore, there are no terrorists within the borders of the US.

This is no doubt why our press has decided it is not worth pursuing.

Good work Randy. Brush off that there are terrorists in America and focus on the real enemy – your president and his supporters. We know who you support.

    VinceTN-

The leader of the Democratic Party has made it clear that they are in a war between good and evil… and the Republicans are that evil. Other minor enemies aren’t important until the great War between Good and Evil is concluded.
