I can sense some tongue action in that pic, can’t you??

This picture especially –and all his “contributions” to the dumbing down the American marketplace of ideas– should be purged from any future use for any reason whatsoever.
The best that can be said is “AlGore made Dan Quayle look good.”

Ummm….I’d like to hear some comments about the videos now available of GWB giving the middle finger to cameras, reporters, etc. For a man of his age and position, it’s pretty disturbing that he resorts to such childish responses. A bit more disturbing than Al and Tipper locking lips.
Well, maybe he can run for president in the alternate universe he was ranting (homeless maniac style) about last week.
Synovasays
Kevin, perhaps there are more video clips but the one I saw last election time was of a pretty young G.W. Bush getting ready for an interveiw and joking around. Probably flipped off his best buddy, which isn’t quite the same thing as giving someone the finger when you mean it. He was certainly laughing rather than looking mad.
I thought it was rather funny (particularly in the doctored video clip I saw where his goofing off was interspersed with Edwards getting his hair fixed) and rather than finding it disturbing I felt it showed Bush as a pretty normal guy.
If he stood up in the White House press room and flipped off a reporter I would not be amused at all.
As far as bad jokes before the camera is officially rolling, it hardly compares to Reagan announcing his bombing of the USSR. (And I still think that playing the trombone isn’t adequately presidential, though Rudy in drag is okay so long as it’s not *president* Rudy in drag.)
Ummm… I’d like to hear more about why the liberal 527 Texans For Truth thought that such an old film was soooo important that it had to be released just before the election. I guess since everything else the liberals tried were such resounding failures they were THAT desperate.
Anyone whose spent more than five minutes at Wonkette, Kos, Atrios, DUMB or any other site would find it amusing that lefties would feign such horror at someone using an obscenity.

#8 – Yeah – Amazing hypocrisy.
Kevin – Here’s something else to think about.
Maybe the reason images – any images – of Al Gore are so disturbing is because of what Gore stands for: a particularly disturbed, deranged politics (complete with Nazi accusations that make zero sense, etc.).
And maybe the reason images don’t matter of Bush as a young man, flipping off the cameraman in a joking way, is because Bush has actually done a few good things as President.
Sheesh, GP, given Gore’s record, I’d say his saying he would absolutely never run for President again means he’s already created his campaign for 2008.
Maybe he and Kerry can form a ticket…..they can call it the “Second Time’s a Charm” campaign, or maybe, “HA! The Laws Favor OUR Campaign Now!”
That means you can elect a conservative President with 18% of voters who are moderate…..but to elect a liberal, you need a whopping 31% of voters who are moderate.
WHY do the Democrats keep thinking they can elect an open, flaming liberal???! It hasn’t worked since 1964.
Synovasays
I actually sorta liked Gore durring the 2000 campaign and I liked Tipper. I mean, it’s not like I thought he was fantastic or anything, but Bush didn’t strike me as remarkable in anyway. I couldn’t figure out how the Rebpublicans had managed to end up with Bush on the ticket.
With Gore’s irresponsible statements in Sweden, however, it is blindingly clear that he (and I can think of some others, too) care far more about political advantage and even playing to his audience, that he cares for the United States of America. Domestically, perhaps, we can accept the remarks about regularly torturing people as partisan hyperbole, but people in other countries are perfectly entitled to take his words as a factual representation of real events. Proof, even. He damages the US with accusations that he knows he’s not going to have to answer for, and he just doesn’t care.
So is he just stupid, or is he evil?
If he’s too stupid to understand the extent to which war is a battle of minds, we can only praise God to high heaven that the man is NOT our president.
joesays
His statements in Sweden were by no means the first, Synova. He’s been in a death spiral (psychologically, politically, morally) for at least 5 years.
Some would say longer. His 1990s book about environmentalism and the importance of the Kyoto protocols was pretty kooky. (though it got much breathless praise from the Left at the time)

Al Gore makes the late Adm. Stockwell sane by comparison. (“Who am I? Why am I here?”)
I agree, #17. Heck, I’m a native Texan and we were never shown images over and over again of then-Gov. Bush giving the one-fingered salute. Why should we? It wasn’t important then, and it is not important now.
You know, libs can enthuse over Whoopi, Cher, Bette, Kanye et al when they use derogatory and inflammatory words to describe other human beings. But boy, does the stuff hit the fan when it’s turned around on the Left and it’s a political figure using a political finger! Some “sense of fairness,” eh?
The only thing I remember that GWB did that was off-color was him and Cheney during the 2000 election calling NYT writer Adam Clymer a “first-class a$$hole.” Yet you didn’t hear a firestorm of protest over it except from the MSM. You know, those guys and gals have to defend their own.
Of course, it ain’t slander if it’s true……right, Adam?
Synovasays
The libs can enthuse over Whoopi being crude yet have a cow about “conservatives” because they think they are holding conservatives to the conservative rules. Conservatives are a bunch of Bible Thumpers (or at least depend on Bible Thumpers) and so the finger takes on greater significance… or it *should* because the Repub base should be offended… if the Repub base is *not* offended, then it’s a case of hypocracy.
The thing about GWB giving someone a good natured f-you that will sprain some brains is that it most certainly*helped* him in the election. Manly men are allowed to be crude, just not in front of ladies.

So VP Cheney wasn’t a manly man when he uttered “Go F yourself”.
Thanks for the clarification.

Who did he say “Go F yourself” to? I had missed that one. So what part of what I said did he violate? Manly men (I’m sort of joking to use that term but not quite) get to be crude, so it must have been in front of ladies? Well, “ladies” is sort of situationally dependant in a “that ain’t no lady” sort of way, and of course, if he was *defending* a female person he loses points by failing to be crude.
Wouldn’t it be nice if social rules were easy?
Anyhow, do *you* think Governor Bush’s finger is something I should be offended by?
Speaking of crude cows, check out #s 19 and 21. Same dykette who was talking about docking herself in another thread. Get thee to the Teacup dear and find some action.

#8: hmmm…How about, on more than one ocassion, that Bush has said “things would be a lot easier if I was a dictator.”? He was laughing all right and said it right to cameras/microphones that he knew were live and running. Maybe funny once, but he’s said it more than once and that’s kind of scary froma guy who’s supposed to be leading a democracy. And how about one of his comments in New Orleans – people still trapped, starving, dying and he decides to tell a little story about his fond memories of having too much fun the French Quarter.
And exactly how old will Bush be before people stop laughing off his childish behavior as “youthful mistakes”? Seems to me that in the last couple of months he gave the finger to the press as he was walking away from them in the Capitol. Hell, even that nutcase Nixon could hold it together when he was out in public.
Also, check out his body language when he first “apologized” for the slow lack of response from the Federal Gov’t on Katrina – He moved and squrimed and kept turning. His entire body kept saying that he didn’t believe a word he was saying and he didn’t want to be there.
All of this simply points to the basic fact that this immature man-child should not be leader of this country.
Conservative Guysays
Kevin, I run a small committee for a local club. These people can’t agree on anything and waste a lot of time. Every meeting I say to myself, “Things would be a lot easier if I were a dictator,” because it’s true. Does that make me a scary person? When Bush says it, are you scared because you think he really is plotting to abolish Congress and suspend the Constitution? I’m sure most U.S. presidents have wished at one time or another they could just move ahead with the policies of the Executive branch and not have to deal with Congress.
I can sense some tongue action in that pic, can’t you??

Voting Americans consistently identify themselves as (approx.) 33% conservative, 47% moderate, 20% liberal.
That means you can elect a conservative President with 18% of voters who are moderate…..but to elect a liberal, you need a whopping 31% of voters who are moderate.
