How did I miss this anniversary yesterday given the fact that I saw the first Back to the Future movie 20 times …. in the theatre… in 1985?
It was on Saturday, November 5, 1955, Dr. Emmett Brown fell off of his toilet, struck his head, and had a vision of the flux capacitor — the invention that made time travel possible.

He would then incorporate that technology into a DeLorean and create a time machine that had its first trip on October 26, 1985.

While checking out various links on this important movie date, I was shocked to learn something I never knew before. President Ronald Reagan was offered, and declined, to play the mayor of fictional Hill Valley, California (circa 1885) in Back to the Future, Part III. I so wish he would have said yes! That would have been fantastic.
Some great lines from the first Back to the Future movie that I love:
“When this baby hits 88 miles per hour…. you’re gonna see some serious shit.”
“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
“You are my density….I mean my destiny.”
“Now make like a tree, and get out of here.”
Marty: “This is heavy, Doc.”
Doc: “Gravity has nothing to do with it!”
”Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and he told me that if I didn’t take Lorraine out, that he’d melt my brain.”
Marty: “Bullet proof vest, how did you know? I never got a chance to tell you. What about all that talk about screwing up future events, the space time continuum?”
Doc: “Well, I figured, what the hell.”
Happy 50th Anniversary to Doc Brown’s invention! November 5, 1955 — “a red letter day in the history of science!”

PS – I’m soooo pissed I didn’t know about this event. I probably would have figured out a way to go!
Great. Can you take it back to the night the George and Barbara Bush conceived GWB and stop that event from happening?
There’s a few newsclips from the last few years on TV tonight. One of them shows a close up of GWB (post 9/11), urging all nations to join and fight terrorism. Then, without a cut, the camera shot pulls out slight and GWB says “Watch this drive.” Turns out he was standing on a golf course. Just also saw his infamous, smirking “A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier” comment. My God, how can intelligent conservatives take this moron seriously?? How can people attribute any serious thought, commentary or “doctrines” to him personally? This guy proves over and over and over that he is the dumbest, stupidest, biggest idiot to ever sit in the White House.
And yet another “intelligent” comment from an “enlightened” lib comes forth on this blog like the vomit Charles De Gaulle predicted in the headlines below…
Undeniable truth of life – libs are easily depressed and hate to see others have a good time. They figure misery loves company. If they have to be miserable, well then gosh darn it, so does everyone else!
Hey Kevin – I hear that they miss you over at Daily K-os. Go bug them for a while until you can come up with some intelligent arguments.
Regards,
Peter Hughes
Heh. When I was a kid I got the greatest satisfaction out of figuring out that Marty returns to 1985 on my birthday in 1955…..
No. 1, Kevin, you’re right and alas, that is what we’re stuck with for 3 more years. The answer to your question of “how conservatives can take the moron seriously” is this: they don’t. But, for the sake of party unity, they also do not criticize him, for fear that criticism might undermine party prospects. Just as gay conservatives do not criticize even openly bigoted Republicans such as Coburn of Oklahoma. It has now been 24 hours since Coburn uttered these extraordinarily moronic and bigoted words and not a peep from the so-called Gay Patriots here. They’ll tolerate any outrage as long as there’s an “R” attached to the person. And they wonder why they’re called “Uncle Toms”…
24 Hours Ago, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) said…
“It (the gay community) is a threat to undermine the family. It does undermine the family. And if you look at the structural problems with our country today, what is happening to us at every level as a nation and in our culture? Our families are falling apart.”
Response from Gay Patriots is…?

My God, how can intelligent conservatives take this moron seriously??
That’s because intelligent conservatives know that he was joking when he made the dictatorship comment. Only the dumbest, stupidest, biggest idiot liberals who rely on “Bushisms” with no reference to context actually buy it. If you weren’t so motivated by hatred, you might know better. Too bad.
There’s a few newsclips from the last few years on TV tonight.
Actually, he was talking about Israel and Palestine. What you saw is what Fat Bastard Moore spun it into what he wanted you to believe. See, he was banking on dumbass liberals not knowing any better and taking his word for it. Looks like he got his money’s worth off you.

So when are liberals going to comment on Corrine “You all look alike to me” Brown, Gary Trudeau, Ted Rall, Sen. Chris Dodd, Fritz Hollings, Ted “Neanderthal” Kennedy, Harry “flat nose and black skin” Reid, Robert Byrd(D, KKK),Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Cynthia McKinney, Dick Durbin etc. etc. etc.?
LOL….of course Coburn’s words are wrong, Queer Patriot. That’s a given. Coburn is on record as having said numerous other awful and untrue things about gays; the man is quite obviously an antigay bigot. Duh.
Meanwhile, as for not criticizing bigoted conservatives, you’ve tried spinning that lie millions of times, and you always lose.
Of course, I can’t blame you for trying, especially when “queer patriots” like yourself and Pussy were calling John Kerry’s support of antigay state constitutional amendments “pro-gay” and “gay-supportive”. The only way in which you can keep yourself from looking like hypocrites due to your inability to criticize antigay Democrats is to try to deflect attention.
And that is the difference between gay conservatives and gay liberals, Queer Patriot. Gay conservatives CAN criticize people in their own party……gay liberals criticize others because they can’t.
Thanks for ruining my BTTF thread, Kevin. Sheesh. Go back to Kos, I agree.

Second
Oh come on, get a sense of humor.
Kos? Sorry, I don’t get that reference, please explain.
I mean, c’mon, be honest….you really can’t give GWB a lot of credit for being a mental giant. I remember back in the 70s when Ford took a bit of ribbing for tripping a couple of times. But GWB – I’ve watched him talk for nearly 6 years. (and yes, I do watch him speak so my ideas can be informed and not based on the evil Michael Moore). If he ain’t scripted, he finds it mighty hard to say a complete sentence…you know you’ve seen it…admit it….
Speaking as a native Texan, Kevin, it is true that GWB is not blessed with “style slicker than dog snot,” as we would routinely describe Bubba Clinton, but you have to understand that he talks the way we NORMAL folks do down here. You have to understand that the words are important, not the delivery. People who sound like some two-bit tinhorn pan salesman don’t get very far down here.
And speaking of which…when Ma Richards was “the gov’nah” 10 years ago, nobody berated her for her “uhhs” and “weeeeels” on either side of the aisle. In fact, her whole administration was scripted. Nobody ever caught her at an impromptu moment because she never let them. And media bias being what it was (and is), nobody raised an eyebrow.

PS – As for the Daily K-os (pronounced “Chaos”) rejoinder, it’s the liberal antithesis of this blog. It is also comprised of members who seem to be about a collective 30 points lower on the IQ scale.
Let’s not confuse a “style slicker than dog snot” to someone who can’t speak a clear, complete sentence. I’ve been to Texas several times and come across some quite colorful language, but that’s not the same thing as Dubya’ speech and thought.
One of the best examples was his comment last year about doctors getting out of business, how ob/gyn’s could not practice loving their patients. WTF??
Now, my best friend is a gay, conservative, Republican, OB/GYN who supports Bush. I was laughting my ass off when we talked about his comment and my friend responded “yeah, he’s not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree, is he?”
(shrug) Let’s put you in front of a audience of TV cameras and microphones, throw question after question at you, then edit the video, Kevin. We could make you look like a complete idiot easily.
What you don’t realize, Kevin, is that the American public is smarter than you give them credit for being. We know that the reason you bash Bush’s grammar and pronunciation is because that’s all you have.
Excuse me, but I watched that speech from the moment he was introduced through all of his comments, not just the sound bite, thank you very much.
Secondly, I expect a bit more from anyone (no matter their political affiliation) to clearly speak and get their ideas across. I’m not looking for “everyday joe” to be the person to lead the USA. Anyone who has spoken in public has made a gaff at once in a while, but GWB has spoken like this time and time again when not scripted. The inability to speak a complete sentence on a regular basis really does go directly to someone’s level of intelligence.
Excuse me, but I watched that speech from the moment he was introduced through all of his comments, not just the sound bite, thank you very much.
I’m sorry, but I rather doubt that, especially from someone who insisted that Bush said he wanted to give voting rights to guest workers — a flagrant falsehood.
I think you just hear what you want to hear and run off to spin your lies. As soon as you demonstrate you can tell the truth, we might think about believing you.
