Double Standard Democrats
Hey America… it’s okay that I come to the floor every day for five years and call the President and Commander-In-Chief a liar, a draft dodger, a cocaine addict, an election stealer, a corrupt man, incompetent yet Hitleresque….
But…. *sniff, sniff*…..Don’t you dare say mean things about my friend Jack Murtha!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be soooo unfair and I’m gonna cry.
PS — America is evil and I hate handguns and puppies.

10PM Update – Because of the multiple procedural votes before the actual vote on the Iraq withdrawal resolution, it will allow the Democrats to be able to say that they voted FOR surrender before they voted AGAINST it.

I think Tammy Bruce had Pelosi in mind when she called the moonbats “pod people” in her latest book, “The New American Revolution.” Pelosi looks like a goddamn alien. I just wish she was an illegal alien and we could deport her.

Much Ado About Nothing
The drama unfolding in the House tonight represents political theater at its best and worst. As usual, the media is gleefully going along for the ride. Liz Sidoti from the AP reports:House Republicans, seeing an opportunity, maneuvered for a quick

Please separate Nancy Pelosi and others on the Democratic left from Congressman John Murtha.
No one can question Murtha’s patriotism and commitment to our Armed Forces. I’m willing to bet he agonized long and hard before rising to demand that we withfraw our troops from Iraq when “practicable”.
Murtha has close and strong ties to the uniformed military and he may be expressing the frustrations military commanders have over the inept management of the war by Pentagon civilians and the Vice President’s office.
I don’t necessarily agree with Murtha. I think Bush and Cheney made a horrible mistake to get us involved in Iraq and have blundered repeatedly in mismanaging the war, but I think we have to stay there until Iraqi forces are capable of standing alone.

Sorry, Jack, but I have to disagree with you. This reeks of another attempt by the Cindy Sheehan leftist Democrats to buy respectability by co-opting someone else’s war record.
Unfortunately, Murtha seems to have gone the route of Marshal Petain…..or his record as a good and loyal soldier is being co-opted and manipulated by unscrupulous leftists like Pelosi who would rather see the US burn than Bush be leading it.

“No one can question Murtha’s patriotism and commitment to our Armed Forces.”
Oh yeah? Watch me. “Murtha is a treasonous turncoat who hates America and our men and women in uniform.” There. So much for speaking in absolutes.

Sorry, Jack, but it turns out your man Murtha isn’t quite so pure as you made him out to be. I am sure it’s just a coincidence, but just before he became a hero to the left and the MSM, Roll Call was reporting that he was about to be subject to ethics investigations for steering defense contracts to businesses represented by his brother’s consulting firm.
Second, “No one can question Murtha’s patriotism and commitment to our Armed Forces.” Bullshit! I’ll question the patriotism of any politician who puts our soldier’s lives at risk by conveying to our terrorist enemies the impression that if they kill enough of them, we will surrender.
And finally, although I hate to sink to this level, what’s with Nancy Pelosi’s face? She looks like a vampire. How many facelifts and botox injections does it take before one’s face looks like a latex glove stretched over the skull of a cow?

Jack -
I am going to join you in declining to question Murtha’s intentions; but, I have to join the others in questioning his judgment.
First, there is simply no question that Murtha’s position is irresponsible. We are on the brink of success in Iraq: the election and institution of its first genuine democratic government.
Immediate withdrawal – and Murtha has used the word “immediate” many times in his recent public comments – would abort that process and turn the Iraqi people directly over to butchers.
Next, Murtha is spreading demonstrable falsehoods about the Iraq war, to justify his irresponsible position.
He says “Our troops have become the primary target of the insurgency”. It’s demonstrably untrue: Iraqis, both common people, police, armed forces, and officials of the democratic government, are the primary target of the Baathist / al Qaeda insurgency.
He also says Iraq is “not going as advertised”. Literally true, but only when taken in the exact opposite sense of what Murtha intended. Anyone who reads milblogs and who follows Iraq’s progress toward its first genuine democratic government knows that Iraq is going considerably BETTER than advertised by a Bush-hating, irresponsible MSM.
To sum up – An incredibly irresponsible position, backed by the mouthing of falsehoods, deserves unmitigated criticism.
I don’t question Murtha’s patriotism, but how his JUDGMENT could have become so warped and wrong is a question that needs looking into.

It seems that the Gay Patriots cannot tell who a real patriot is.
My current suggestion to rename this blog:
Gayish Faux Patriots
It seems to be an accurate assessment of the conserve congregants here.

Mirror in the house, anyone?
A real patriot:
(1) Wants America to flourish and succeed in the world
(2) Is genuinely happy when America flourishes and succeeds
(3) Makes criticisms, or advocates policy changes, that will genuinely help America to flourish and succeed.
Sorry babe, but you’ve shown at different times that you fail on all 3.
Murtha only fails on the third one.
But he fails so badly, his goodness on the first 2 almost don’t matter.

Amazing that Murtha’s militory record makes his statements unquestionable. McCain has a much more dramatic record than Murtha and supports the war effort but somehow his views can be overlooked/dismissed. What makes Murtha more important than McCain?

You know, if the left really believed their “You can never question the wisdom or integrity of a man wounded in the service of his country” rhetoric, wouldn’t Bob Dole have been elected president?
Also, I don’t recall any lefties ever being this deferential to Oliver North. (Three Purple hearts in Vietnam).

It’s despicable that a man’s patriotism is questioned simply because he disagrees with an administration’s war policies.

6: Ya know, this blog claims to have the support of conservative Lesbians, but based on your comment (and similar ones I’ve seen in other posts) I’m kinda finding that hard to believe. Interesting how men can so easily attack women on on their physicalities.
I noticed you don’t upbraid Rep. Jean Schmidt for making a personal attack on Murtha on the floor of the house. shame on her; she deserved the booing she got.

15: Believe it. It’s really easy to do to democrats, but it’s pretty scarey that they do it to their own party members. Look at how some Republicans have been sacrificed / villified when they stand up and show that their loyalty is to the USA, the people and the constitution; not to You-Know-Who.
This is why the judiciary is under such attack now…many there are being labeled “activist judges” yet they are conservative interpreters of the constitution/law. Seems that the laws of the land and the constitution don’t fit in with the agenda of some of our elected leaders in DC these days.

No, Jack, what’s despicable is a politician who, facing an ethics nivestigation, decides to kiss up to the left-wing press by calling for our troops to surrender in time of war, thus encouraging our terrorist enemies to carry out more attacks. What’s despicable is a politician who wants us to desert our enemies in time of war, thus validating what our terrorist enemy said about us.

Comment 16 – What’s to upbraid?
In what way did Rep. Schmidt make a personal attack?
I saw the clip. In effect (quote not exact), she says “My constituent, a Marine, told me to remind Rep. Murtha of the fact that Marines aren’t cowards and don’t cut and run.”
Explain in what way, clearly and precisely, that would be an attack on anybody?
Are you treating it as one, because it hits a nerve for you? In other words, are you wearing the shoe eagerly, because it fits?

If all “dissent” is patriotic, then those people out in San France holding up the signs that say “We Support Our Troops When They Shoot Their Officers” and “I Like NYC Better Without the WTC” must be the most patriotic of us all.
