Ford Motors Vs. Gay America?

December 9, 2005 by GayPatriot

I haven’t really followed the hubabaloo around the Ford vs. gay thing that has a lot of other folks riled up. So I can honestly say I don’t feel as if I have enough information, or care enough to comment. All I do know is that I have a Ford Explorer that has treated me well for the past six years, despite the partisan attack on it last fall.

But I figured many of you would want the opportunity to comment, so this is your chance. I’d be interested in what the range of comments are.

Meantime, NorthDallasThirty (one of my favorite blogs) has a good wrapup of the blog-driven “scandal.”

I’ve been covering this one on my blog – and have corresponded with the Dallas area dealer. Aravosis has been pushing this one on Americablog. What’s interesting is he was late to get to it. Pam Spaulding has been following the story for a while now. Aravosis has – predictably brought the Bush administration into it – because there were some former Bush administration officials who met with Ford.

I would encourage you to call your Ford dealer, and let them know you don’t appreciate them making advertising decisions based on what the AFA wants. I can fully understand business decisions.

The Dealer in Texas who brokered the meeting between Ford Execs and the AFA had no idea who the AFA was until he got calls from Customers – who reacted to an AFA alert. Instead of finding out about the AFA and contacting his customers to find out more about what their concerns were, he went into the kneejerk (and wrong) response of contacting the AFA to try to deal with them.

This was a dumb thing to do by Ford – and it was dumb of the dealer in Texas, Jerry Reynolds to kowtow to the gay obsessed AFA.
