Icy Travel Day and Other Thoughts

I’m still suffering from high-speed Internet withdrawal! Our new house is so high-tech, we can’t figure it out. And now my new problem is that my wireless modem isn’t working on my new Dell. Grrr.

So I’m on my way to Chicago for work after my flight last night was cancelled due to bad weather at O’Hare. And this morning there is an ice storm in Charlotte and mine is one of the few flights getting out. (Have I mentioned lately how much better US Airways at Charlotte is versus United at Dulles — or anywhere else for that matter).

It will be a quick trip to the Windy City and I’ll be back in the Queen City by Friday noon.

Hopefully the hotel tonight will have high-speed, and I can also figure out what ails my wireless modem.

Happy Thursday!

  1. Bit of parallelism there. After I flew up from the Carolinas to interview for my DC area job, I returned to find the entire area under ice. Our power was out for five days.

On my flight to DC for the second interview, I awoke in my hotel the day after the interview to find a snowstorm moving in. Since my flight out was in the afternoon, I knew I’d be stranded, so I hijacked my rental car and drove all the way back to Greenville.

  2. If you’re forced to call Dell “support,” be prepared for the most frustrating experience of your life.

    I speak from experience.

  3. 2: Hmmm….why is it frustrating?

  4. Before you start, Kevin, you are aware that Dell tech support is run out of BOTH the US and India, right?
