Cowboyin’ It — Charlotte Style

February 5, 2006 by Bruce Carroll

PatriotPartner and I ventured into unchartered territory last night by attending the East Coast World Rodeo Finals at the Cricket Arena in Charlotte. Well, that’s not entirely true as we did go to a rodeo in Cody, Wyoming about three years ago during a tour of the West.

But this was our first Charlotte entertainment activity since we moved here in December. And trust me, it was a Blue Staters Nightmare!

The National Anthem was sung proudly and loudly, prayers for the crowd and the cowboys and cowgirls were said with reverence, and all four flags of the branches of our Armed Forces were galloped around the arena on horseback.

Now, I ask you… what’s not to like about the rodeo?

More photos after the jump.

The ultimate event of any rodeo is the bull riding competition which comes at the end.

You ought to mention that it’s PETA’s nightmare too.

You ought to check out the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo sometime. You ain’t seen cowboys and bullriders till you see the HLSR. Especially on Go Texan Day.

Ridor, my partner and I check out other guys all the time. Since you can’t get a man, I wouldn’t expect you to understand.

We do the same raising of the flag and the Pledge of allegiance in my hometown rodeo too Bruce. That would be in Burbank, CA at the equestrian center. A red stater’s nightmare come true.

    Bah.
