or that he had been given what appears to be extraordinary access to the White House for a non-government employee.

AND

We ( the American People) still have NO idea why Jeff gannnon was at the White House over 200 times without the proper security clearances....Now EXPLAIN THAT AWAY PLEASE!

Well, you had to be paying attention. If not, you could at least get off your lazy ass, get away from the liberal lying points sights and do a Google search.
He got a daily press pass to the briefings by supplying his REAL name, birthdate and SSN, etc. He never got a permanent pass, which requires an FBI background check, and he didn't get that because you have to have a pass from the Senate press gallery.

#41

Never forget the rape of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast by a government too into itself to provide aid to those in need on a timely basis. That is one thing I truly hold against Bush and company, that they allowed our nation to look like a charity case before the world.

Actually, it was the liberals who had been raping New Orleans and the state of Louisiana long before Katrina got there. Not only that, but they've allowed the nation to look like a charity case long before Katrina as well.
How about the fact that everything Big Media reported about New Orleans, other than the fact that a major hurricane hit there, was a damnable lie, worse than Rather-gate? Is that what we should forget instead?

Since we don't want America looking like a "charity case", how about the people rebuild New Orleans their own damn selves instead of worrying where the USPS is going to deliver their checks? New Orleans wasn't built by the federal government, why the hell should it rebuild it? Since you're so fucking worried about looking like a "charity case", it's my guess that you'll go along with that, right?

#47

I don’t know why the US government can’t manage things on its own. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Because we're not a socialist country where the government has to manage everything. I thought you might know the difference between America and the Fatherland.

BTW, you haven't mentioned your living in Germany for a while. You're long over due.

Then what do you think of the current White House press corp? I call him a journalist only relative to them. They can't even bring themselves to accurately state what the White House has said about X. (Which is by NO means the end of their duties; but, the beginning.) Gannon could at least do that.

I have too much pride in my journalism degree to let you guys call Guckert/Gannon a "journalist". And I still don't understand how he was able to get a White House press pass.

Malin the gay liberal ex-escort who goes to Christianity vs. Gannon the conservative who supposedly becomes more supportive of homosexuals after he is out.

Just to remind you, this (regarding Gannon/Guckert) is not unusual. If you don't remember the case of Robert Bauman, the "married, with children" and viciously anti-gay Republican Representative from the eastern shor of Maryland, who, in 1980, resigned from his seat after being discovered having homosexual "dalliances," do a google search. Initially, he claimed that his homosexual "dalliances" were the result of alcoholism. Later, he sought the support of gay people, professing support on pro-gay issues.

Regarding Bauman's pleas, I might have been born at night, but not last night.

As far as I was concerned at the time--and I still am--good riddance to bad rubbish.

-So you think GP should have been hard on Gannon and was trying to do a backhanded puff piece on Gannon? (Asking to check my understanding)-

I think that GP was trying to make Gannon sympathetic by comparing him to Malin - Malin the gay liberal ex-escort who goes to Christianity vs. Gannon the conservative who supposedly becomes more supportive of homosexuals after he is out. It's some kind of a good conservative vs. bad liberal stretch, I guess, but I just have to wonder why Gannon neds to be compared to Malin. The article to me also implies that it's somehow bad or wrong for Malin to have embraced Christianity, and says this is a "mirror image" of Gannon, when Gannon has mentioned his newfound religious beliefs in interviews. Gannon has also never said he's gay, which this article doesn't mention. The article paints a picture of Gannon that does not necessarily gibe with what Gannon has said.

(#49 cont.) Just for starters, notice the title of the piece: "The Democrats' Jeff Gannon".

That wording, in itself, suggests being a Jeff Gannon is a bad thing.

The piece goes on to analyze Gannon and Malin as exactly corresponding mirror images of one another, putting both men in a negative light.

Finally, the key rhetorical focus is on lefty bloggers' hypocrisy (for how they handled one vs. the other). Again, no Gannon puff piece.

-So is he an ex-gay or something? Says he’s found religion or some crap like that.-

Many gays are religious, especially in Texas. Dallas has that big gay church.

-

Please spell it out. What, precisely, about Gannon should anyone have remembered or mentioned earlier in this thread?-

In this article, Crain outs several politicians.

http://washingtonblade.com/2005/12-2/view/editorial/cunningham.cfm

Gannon has criticized those who out people, yet he has no problem working for Crain. I could be wrong, but I thought there was an article at GP at some point about Crain and his views on outing. It just seems like this big puff piece about poor Jeff Gannon vs. terrible, awful Malin doesn't really go in to all the twists and contradictions of Gannon. GP says that Gannon has fully embraced his gay roots and criticizes Malin for embracing Christianity, as if Malin had somehow claimed he found Jesus only after he was outed (I think his site was up before he was outed as an ex-escort), and as if Gannon was now openly gay (he claims he's bi or that his orientation isn't an issue) or wasn't using religion (Gannon also said he has found religion).

The article paints a picture of Gannon that doesn't really seem to match anything from Gannon, apparently because we need to view Gannon as wonderful and Malin as horrible. It seems like a huge contortion to me. Apparently Malin's major sin is not his past, but his happening to be a Democrat or not being Jeff Gannon.

#40 V the K — February 20, 2006 @ 8:36 pm - February 20, 2006

...but not racist to get in a hysterical tizzy because ‘Rabs are going to own a company that loads and unloads ships at a seaport?

From what I have read, the Dubai company is not going to load or unload ships at any seaport. It is going to manage operations at the seaport. I'm not sure why the ports need a company to manage operations there, and why the ports couldn't set up their own management operations. But I do know that the US government has (or has had) contracts with several US companies to manage operations at the National Labs and the nuclear weapons development facilities. I don't know why the US government can't manage things on its own. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Slightly off topic... Taking a step back...

Gannon, Cheney's hunting accident, Katrina, "Bush lied!!!", Plamegate, Rather's forged documents, many others... so many big, hysterical, breathless liberal media controversies (against the Administration) have turned out to be nothing as more facts came in. One after another after another...

Don't these people ever stop, reflect or learn? I mean, when they've been wrong 13 or whatever times in a row... wouldn't you?

There is one potential serious scandal going unreported this minute. Namely: Why is the Bush Administration trying to cover up Able Danger?

That the Clinton Administration would want to cover up Able Danger, I can understand. (It happened on their watch. It more or less predicted 9-11 and some of the people involved, before 9-11. Sandy Berger destruction of National Archive documents, anyone?)

But what has the Bush Administration got to lose from Able Danger coming out? Why are they trying to prevent it? You'd think the doughty Washington press corps might want to get their shoes dirty, uncovering something real, like that. As opposed to Cheney's bird pellet, Gannon or whatever.

#41 - "It’s like the impeachment comments made by Republicans about Clinton. If Republicans stood by them today, Bush and Cheney would have been impeached by now"

Really? Please justify that statement. I.e., explain what you mean.

As far as I can know, Cheney hasn't intentionally lied under oath to obstruct justice. Do you know something new/different?

#37 - It would be hard for anyone to have mentioned something you think should have been mentioned, Carl, when the reference (in #37) has gotten as vague and twisting and turning as that.

Please spell it out. What, precisely, about Gannon should anyone have remembered or mentioned earlier in this thread? And if you would like to refer to some earlier GP post - what post? (please link it) (they have a Search facility in the left-side column)

It's like the impeachment comments made by Republicans about Clinton. If Republicans stood by them today, Bush and Cheney would have been impeached by now. Same deal with Cheney and the shooting vs. Teddy Kennedy and Chappaquiddick.

Both sides are equally guilty of the hypocrisy. Try a mad libs game: Take either party's statements about a political opponent and replace the opponent's name with that of an ally in a compromising position and you'll sound like you switched parties.

Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, secular, theocon, neocon, Christian Fundagelical or Islamic Jihadi: for all your vaunted statements, whited walls you were and are. Gang, that's most of this world. And even though I try not to be one of you, I'm afraid I still am.

And with the money-changers and business interests in charge of much of Christianity, especially in this country, a far more thorough cleansing of the Temple is needed over the one done 2000 years ago.

Never forget the rape of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast by a government too into itself to provide aid to those in need on a timely basis. That is one thing I truly hold against Bush and company, that they allowed our nation to look like a charity case before the world. A nation that can't or won't take care of those in extremis cannot long survive as a great nation and is in no way a Christian one.

OK Hank, then explain it to me: Why is it racist to subject Islamic males to extra scrutiny at the airport, but not racist to get in a hysterical tizzy because 'Rabs are going to own a company that loads and unloads ships at a seaport?

Oh, come on. He might be despicable, you've gotta admit he's cute. Have you seen his pics on the archived escort pages? Hot!

So is he an ex-gay or something? Says he's found religion or some crap like that.

-

Which chain is that? I had read that he was writing columns for Window Media, which publishes Southern Voice, Washington Blade, NY Blade, among others, but I hadn’t read that they particularly supported outing. Are you referring to another chain? -

I think that was Window Media. I remember something about Crain or someone else at the paper supporting outing, and I think someone at GP may have even had a very unhappy article responding to this.

Interesting that none of this was mentioned when it's time to try to make Gannon look sympathetic.
