Well, lookie here…. (via Log Cabin Republicans).
President Bush has appointed Log Cabin National Board Member Troy Benavidez to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS (PACHA). “Log Cabin congratulates Troy on this well deserved appointment,” said Log Cabin President Patrick Guerriero. “Troy will be a valuable member of PACHA. His voice as a Latino gay conservative will provide important guidance for the Council.”
“I’m honored to be appointed to PACHA,” said Benavidez. “Much work still must be done to get this epidemic under control and to provide assistance for the hundreds of thousands of Americans living with HIV/AIDS. I’m proud to be a part of this effort and I thank the President for selecting me to serve on the Council.”
Benavidez has valuable experience that makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the Council. He has served on the boards of both New Mexico AIDS Services and the Samaritan Counseling Center, a faith-based counseling center in New Mexico. In addition, he brings to PACHA 13 years of experience working in government at the state and federal level.
I….can’t….compute…..this….news. Bush hates gays and minorities. My…brain…is….about…to….explode.
*puts down The Advocate*
Okay, all is fine.

Everytime Bush appoints a minority or MO or both, the PC “god” kills a kitten.
ummmm…this guy works for Astra Zeneca.
“Fox here is your hen house!”
Sheesh! You can’t make this stuff up!
…and you just HAD to know the moonbats would find a reason to bitch about this, as well.
Eric in Wonderland
And of course, why doesn’t the MSM trumpet this tidbit of “diversity” and “inclusiveness” in the government?
Oh, yeah, that’s right – a Republican is in the White House. Silly me!
I daresay the Bush White House is a lot more diverse in it staff makeup than the Clinton one ever was.
Quick – besides James Hormel (insert “wiener” joke here), what other gay person was appointed to a post in the Clinton White House?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
(Crickets….)
I rest my case.

Peter Hughes
Um…From the Advocate July 20, 1999, “…Virginia Apuzzo, the Clinton administration’s highest-ranking lesbian official, announced June 14 that she would leave the White House to take a position at the Policy Institute of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Currently assistant to the president for administration and management…”
Peter, gay appointments in the Clinton Administration? How about Roberta Achtenberg at HHS, Elaine Kaplan at the Spec Counsel’s Office, Dr Scott Hitt and the other Prez HIV Commission members, Masha Scott and Rich Socarides, Lani Guinier, and the list goes on and on… I think the Clinton revisionists offer he appointed between 150-175 gays to prominent positions in his Administration and Al Gore, if he had won in 2000, would have appointed over 300 or 3,000 (their number is fuzzy) –but he a had list ready to review on the drive up Constitution Ave and his swearing in ceremony. Hit the ground running, Gore would.
Both men are on record at the Wash Post and NYTimes as stating that they wanted to do more appointments of gays to prominent posts but time ran out… 8 years wasn’t enough and Congress didn’t want to help… something about advice and consent functions?
I think Clinton pardoned more gays than he appointed.
Thanks Gene, I forgot about Ginnie Apuzoo -and her tight, side silt power suits. I think Bill hit on her, too.
Michael, did you know that the real archangel Michael is gay? It’s in the daVinci Code… page 431. He’s gay and he likes buff guys. You’ll have some ‘xplaining to do Lucy when you get up there for the eternal cut.
(I think Bruce ax-ed another comment from Michael the Archangel of Truth)
his ratings are in the toilet and now he actually hires someone who’s fully qualified for a job? hmmmmm. then again, has he appointed on a out/gay person to a position that isn’t related to a disease that is still, 20 some years later, primarly linked to gays?
7: Can’t take the heat, huh? he threw a fact right in your face and you attacked her for being a bad dresser. Glad the people on this site are so encompassing of women too.
I would laugh, Kevin, given the attacks by your ilk on Condi Rice and other high-ranking women in the Bush administration, but once again we’d run into the problem of your irony deficiency.
Kevin at #11 “7: Can’t take the heat, huh? he threw a fact right in your face and you attacked her for being a bad dresser. Glad the people on this site are so encompassing of women too.”
Ummm, Kevin, loosen the tie a bit; it’s cutting off either blood or oxygen to your brain. I’m the one who listed the known Clinton gay appointees at #6 for Peter –scroll back after you loosen that tie, boy.
Ginny Apuzzo did often wear tight, side slit skirts and ravashingly beautiful jewelry to the office. I know.
It wasn’t a slam; just recognition of the fact she was/is hot. I guess gay guys have trouble understanding the objectification of women.
I think the “he threw a fact in your face” comment deserves an apology; after you’ve pondered it for a bit.
Time to join the others and take that long walk off the Democrat Plantation, kevin.
Thanks, Matt. I owe you one.

Peter Hughes
Well, Benavidez almost makes up for Lusk.
