Bruce, you’re becoming like Clinton, using a poll to determine your vacation locale. (Go for Greece–such natural beauty (and not just the landscape) and such history.)

I went to Greece in the last year and had a fabulous time. So beautiful, and so much history! Very inspiring.

If you decide to cruise Greece one stop I would recommend is the tiny island of Hydra if you want to really get away from it all; the island doesn’t allow for automobiles (only the sanitation dept is allowed to use tiny truck), all homes rebuilt must replicate the original stucture and the sea is crystal clear. OF course there are so many beautiful islands to see!! That said, I voted resort in Hawaii because getting to the beautiful Greek islands is half the vacation.
Actually, a typical vacation for me (and the kid) is to take a plane to a city we’ve never been to, rent a car, and just drive off down the highway and see what happens.

Well I was attempting to vote for San Deigo and never had a chance, now it is out of the running.
Try Travel Dynamics’ small-ship cruise to the Lost Cities of Libya & Tunisia. It’s a marvelous cruise aboard a 114-passeneger ship, and I guarantee the both of you will visit lands very few westerners will ever see.
It is, indeed, the trip of a lifetime.

If it’s not too late try Blue Chairs in Puerto Vallarta.
My idea of a vacation is home, in my shorts, relaxing. I guess it’s age. And I’ve been to the corn palace — don’t.
You could always come to Pennsylvania. The center of the state in the mountains is pretty. And we could get together!

Having lived in the Mediterranean and with several relatives still living there, my obvious choice is the Greek isles. But don’t do a traditional cruise – do day cruises and island-hops. Here’s how:
1. Book a flight to Athens and spend 1-2 nights there just to see the sights. By day 2, you’ll be ready to leave. Trust me.
2. Take the metro down to the port of Piraeus, about 20-30 minutes from downtown Athens. Buy a first-class ticket to Tinos, an island just 15 minutes from Mykonos. Make sure you get a cabin – it’s included in the price of the boat ticket, but they are on a first-come, first-served basis.
3. The ship will take about 3 hours to get to Tinos. Get comfy in the cabin, open up some wine or buy some beers from the bar on board.
4. When you land in Tinos, stay at either the Hotel Delfinia or the Poseidon on the waterfront. This is a quintissential Greek isle with hardly any non-Greek tourism, so it is charming and peaceful. I’d give it another 1-2 nights. You’ll be so relaxed and upbeat, you may wish to stay more nights! (Think “second honeymoon.”)
5. Buy a cheap ticket for the 15-minute ride to Mykonos. Stay at the Elysium Hotel, gawk at the cute Euro gods in their speedos and gorge yourselves on souvlaki and pastitsio. Drink lots of good Boutari wine and have an ouzo with coffee. OPA!
Hope this helps. You have my e-mail address if you want more detailed information. Happy traveling!

You didn’t say how long you’d be gone. If you’re considering Greece, make sure you’ll provide at least 2-3 days to get over jet lag since you’ll probably miss a night’s sleep on the way over.
You could always do Gay Days with the thousands of other queens.

I voted for the cruise in Greece, but I can highly reccommend Key West as well. Don’t do Disney World, it’s totally lame for anyone under eight.

#13 – Raj, the jet lag is worse going from east to west. I can get to Greece via Air France or KLM and my rest is never disturbed…it’s the return flight to the US where I start needing toothpics to prop up my eyelids.

PS – Don’t EVER fly Delta to Greece; take a European carrier as their service and connections are much more amenable. I had a very bad Delta experience and will never do that again.
Yeah, I second NDXXX’s recommendation. Ranch it up, cowboy.
If BBMtn’s success means that we all have to endure cowboy wannabe studs running around in white straw hats in the middle of winter, then you need to get to a ranch, get on a horse, and learn how to ride, how to handle a loaded pistol and how to wear the right cowboy hat. It’s the only butch vacation in the list.
Parlimentary inquiry: Is there a difference between Disney World and Key West? I thought they were peopled with the same plastic guys.
We want LOTS of pics of you both in Speedos (or less, if inclined)…..is that a deal?
