Gay Bookstore Favorite Supports Anti-Gay Regime

BoifromTroy pointed out last month that our local “gay” bookstore carried works by anti-American author Noam Chomsky, but not the most excellent new book by the lesbian daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Yet, according to Powerline that linguist prefers the anti-gay Islamicist regime “Hamas to the United States and Israel.” Israel is clearly the Middle Eastern nation most tolerant of gay people.

Why would a bookstore which styles itself as a gay establishment carry books by a man who praises anti-gay regimes (and organizations) and not one by a conservative lesbian who criticizes the president for his support of the Federal Marriage Amendment?

  1. The Kool Aid that most gays drank make most gays (and gay bookstore owners) rank anything Republican — no matter what it is — well below the musings of an anti-American, anti-Israeli, anti-gay regime supporting liberal.

  2. #1 – Exactly so, PatriotPal. You hit the nail on the head.

  3. All reason, like all patriotism must be sacrificed to the golden calf of Socialism. Yaweh has nothing on that cow’s demands.

  4. Because Noam Chomsky hates Bush.

Don’t laugh; in three weeks, I fully expect to see people carrying Hamas flags “in support of the Palestinians” in the Pride Parade here in SF.

  5. Oh, I’m sure that pro-Palestinian flags will be big at the top ten pride events (Hamas or otherwise). Funny, I remember a time, not so long ago, when at any organized GLBTXYZ event, making a comment that wasn’t pro-Israel (or at least pro-Zionist) was enough to get you many a “What planet are you from?!” look and perhaps even a lecture on the pro-Gay policies of Israel. Where have all the Jewish lefties in the community gone?

  6. NDT, this is what you call “Gay Supportive” isn’t it?

  7. Still waiting for that gay conservative suggested reading list GPW.

  8. In other news, Gryph: some others would still be waiting for you to understand/practice concepts of reasonable argument, like defining terms and substantiating allegations.

    But, I digress. (sigh) Later.

  9. “Israel is clearly the Middle Eastern nation most tolerant of gay people.”

Canada is clearly the North American nation most tolerant of gay people.

    So what is the point?

  10. Don’t you love Canada, jimmy? The Left does. Don’t you hate Isreal, jimmy? The Left does.

  11. ONE phrase explains it all, Dan: Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Supporting anyone, anything – IF it’s against GWB – then makes sense.

    Sad – eh?

  12. Chomsky’s dementia goes a lot deeper than BDS. As far as he is concerned, the US is the nastiest archetype of the filthy goy. Even Israel itself is treyf for him. He has a very simple-minded worldview, and he wraps it in obscure, vague and convoluted rhetoric to make it sound clever and profound – the same as his “professional” work in linguistics, which any undergraduate can see through and which was debunked back in the 70’s.

    He hate us long time

    Comment by Jim — June 4, 2006 @ 12:53 am - June 4, 2006

  13. The point, Jimmy, is that Chomsky is viciously anti-Israel, praises anti-gay regimes, yet a gay bookstore stocks his books and not those of a conservative lesbian.

And that’s what the post is about. Or did you forget to read the title?

  14. I will take this a step further. The real reason why Roy Cohn was hated by gay leftists was not because he was a corrupt creep (which he was) but precisely because he was an anti-communist. The gay left in the 1960s through the 1990s never found a leftist/communist regime it didn’t like, no matter how viciously gays were persecuted. They did so, not necessarily because they were self-hating homosexuals, but because they were willing to sacrifice gay interests for The Cause. This, I submit, is the proper context to understand what would otherwise be irrational Mary Cheney-hatred.
