Considering that our “enemies” know that this is a media-driven struggle, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if either the locals or a nearby insurgent-cell embellished or set-decorated the scene of this “atrocity” in the convenient gap between the departure of the Marines and the arrival of the “outraged” local inhabitants and the MSM. Would insurgents shoot the rest of the family to add to the body count? Allah forbid….

Equally, it would not surprise me if the initial combat action-reports and events on the ground didn’t “exactly match” either. That’s just the nature of combat and dealing with one’s superiors and the PC-Nannies up the chain of command. Remember the poor Marine that the Press convicted on National TV for shooting the “surrendering” insurgent who attacked them from inside a Mosque? Though, I doubt they’d be STUPID ‘ENUFF to cold-bloodily shoot children execution-style in their own homes….AND just leave the bodies.

I’m not sure the name similarity means anything other than that their families come from the same town (i.e.: al-Haditihi is from Haditha; al-Zarqawi was from Zarqa, Jordan; the al-Mashhadani ’s are likely from a town or area so-named.

I don’t know either. I appreciate the fact that you’re just tossing out a “what if” for discussion but until the NCIS completes its investigation of the alleged crime and the special forces general completes his investigation into a possible cover-up I think it’s a mistake to travel down even a “what if” path. Why don’t we just cool it until we know the truth. And I trust the military to get to the truth.
