Conscientious Effort
While struggling with the introduction to a paper, one of my favorite quotations suddenly popped into my head. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll be using it, but I thought I would share it with y’all. Carl Jung wrote these words in a September 14, 1960 letter to Chilean diplomat Miguel Serrano who includes them in his book, Jung & Hesse: A Record of Two Friendships:
Thus an old alchemist gave the following consolation to one of his disciples: ‘No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you’.Â

Beautiful quote, I just hope you don’t feel like you are an alchemist. Though even alchemy led to good, real chemistry.
