It seems that whenever I am doing cardio at the gym and look up at the TV to see political commercials, I’ll see one showing my man Ahnuld speaking while my man George W smiles in the background. I do see some words critical of the Bush Administration on screen, but nothing about Governor Schwarzenegger’s decent record. I guess it might be different if I could hear the sound.
These ads, produced by the California Democratic party, are designed to benefit their candidate, a guy named Phil Angelides, in this fall’s gubernatorial race by playing on the president’s low poll numbers in the Golden State. So consumed are Golden State Democrats with hatred for President Bush that they’re convinced that when Californians are made aware of Schwarzenegger’s support for the president, they’ll turn away from him in droves.
Well, it looks like the Democrats’ ads are really hitting home. The average of the last five polls has my man Ahnuld up by 12 points, with one poll giving him a 23 point lead. (H/t: TKS.)
as a bay area resident and confirmed liberal nothing bothers me more than these George W. Bush commercials. will someone, I suspect no one here, tell these nimrods, that at the state level Ahnuld’s love for George W. Bush means nothing, nada, zip
Look at their candidate, ralph.
Does Angelides have a single redeeming characteristic?
What amazes me is how a man who is a puppet of virtually every single special interest in the Democratic Party is loathed by virtually every one of them.
And also, ND30, notice that Phil Angelides’ candidacy is not even registering a blip on the national radar? Certainly nothing like Lamont/Lieberman or Casey/Santorum…
Mayhap because he is down by double digits???

Arnold is pretty liberal and a movie star. That helps in California.
Plus, Phil Angelides is ugly. That too matters in California. LOL
Though I was disappointed the Governator didn’t sign the gay marriage bill passed by the legislature. I think we could win a ballot question in California now. It’s likely that it will be in California that the gay community, playing the role of the Russians, will finally have its Stalingrad and defeat one of these constitutional amendments. And from the shockwaves of that victory, the tide will turn.
Bob Teeter used to say that it’s a truism in campaign politics 101: When your opponent launches ads to shore up his/her own base, your opponent’s campaign is in deep trouble. Time to hit harder.
Ned Lamont is running ads which declare Joe Lieberman isn’t Democrat enough and questions his morality of “promising to support the Party”, losing the primary race, then opposing the Party’s choice. You can’t question Lieberman on “morality” grounds –the guy uses the word every other sentence in speeches for the last 25 yrs… he is Mr Morality.
The key is that Lamont is speaking to his own base… not independent voters he needs in order to win. Same is true with the CA Democrat Party ads linking the Governor to the President… problem is, the President’s approval ratings are rising, should be near 50% by late-October and that’s a death warrant for anyone who’s been trashing him… CharlieWrangleMeUpSomeBribes knows that very, very well.
If you have to run ads to get your message to your base –and I don’t mean GOTV ads– you’re campaign is in deep trouble.
If CA is as shallow as Chase is indicating, no wonder the Left is in so much trouble!
After all, what would happen if an attractive man ran against Nancy Pelosi??

with all due respect, could you have a nice sit down with “your man ahnuld” about his idiotic global warming views? 🙂
