  1. Congratulations, Dan! Mythological Studies… hmmm, there ought to be a job for you in the Bush Administration. ;-) Just kidding. So are you going on for a Ph.D.?

  2. Congratulations! Mythology is a wonderful and rich field of study.
I was once told that if you ever really wanted to fully grasp any group of people, study their mythology and you will understand.
    Very well done!

  6. I doubt a person like you can interpret mythology without some sort of narrow, ideological slant.

Who wants to learn mythology from someone that sees only in black and white and through a narrow tube at that?

Maybe you can get a job at Liberty University.

  8. Did you ever get to watch, read or study John Romer? He’s primarily archeology but he ties in a good deal of myth and plain humanity and mondern connection into his work and he would seem an asset to such studies.

  9. Re #6, see VonDer Aschloch’s classic study, The Mythology of the Envious and Spiteful Bitch, (translated from the German, of course), PityPartyTown Press,
    Cyberville, 1963, p. 666.

And yes, I probably will turning to you when I need information about mythology. Or as I like to say, one persons religion is anothers mythology.

  13. Master’s in Mythological Studies? So there’s an entire field of study devoted to the Democratic weltanschauung?! I never knew.

  14. Well done, Dan!

Looks like a really interesting program, thanks for sharing the link. I think I can see how this would provide excellent fuel for your storytelling. I hope you will share some of your insights about mythology with us in the months to come.

I guess you are reading this at the library… sorry to hear about your computer! At least it didn’t die before you printed your papers… perhaps the gods are telling you to take a celebratory break!

Not sure whether you meant to invoke the prophet Snoopy, but that is the happy dance that came to mind. In any case, keep on dancing!

  15. Congratulations! I expect to see many allusions. It’s a lost form. There is something to be said for a common culture. Attempting it now is an almost Sysiphean (sp?) task :-)

  16. Congratulations. I’m sure that a degree in mythological studies will serve you well in your continuing political rants.

My goodness. Don’t Mighty Righties study anything useful anymore? Aside from the art of warfare, maybe some might consider something like engineering. Or even science.

  17. #16: Congratulations, Dee’s older brother, you have managed to reach a new low in human decency. Keep digging!
