As an informed citizen, I know that I vote on any Federal constitutional amendment in at least two ways: one, via choosing my representatives to Congress, and two, via choosing either my state legislators (since three-quarters of the states must approve) or delegates to constitutional conventions called by the states.

Quite frankly, Allen’s racist “youthful indiscretions” at University 35 or so years ago wouldn’t bother me. More than a few of us have had “youthful indiscretions” when we were children at University.

What would bother me (I’m not a VA resident, so I can’t vote against Allen) is the not the fact that he made “youthful indiscretions” 35 years ago, but that he obviously has continued to make “youthful indiscretions,” including calling an Indian-American a monkey in public only a few weeks ago.
