Well, that’s true, for sure. I guess I just feel that I’m in a safe place here where I don’t have to censor myself.

I’m sure progress has been made in bridging the gap between gay conservatives and the GOP at large, and I’m sure plenty of work remains. Similar, I’m convinced that neither party has a monopoly on the gains LGBT persons have made.

Left-leaning LGBT organizations need to recognize the diversity of the community, even and especially when it comes to politics; right-leaning LGBT organizations should do the same. Both sides can learn from each other.

But you have to convince people otherwise.

And frankly, saying that people have “chosen not to use their brain” isn’t the way to do it.

There is no rational basis for differentiating gay marriages/partnerships from straight ones. They are the same in all essentials.

Unlike consensual sex between adults, marriage is not a right. However, I do believe that those who support marriage as a legal institution, but want to deny access to same-sex couples, are either misinformed about the nature of same-sex partnerships, or have chosen not to use their brain on this issue.

A very simple example is marriage. male/female couples only have to spend a few dollars to obtain a marriage license that affords them a whole slew of rights as a married couple. The response I’ve seen here to this issue is “well, just get a lawyer to draw up agreements for that stuff”. Well, I’ve known people who have done this to the tune of 10s of thousands of dollars. In addition, there is never a guarantee that a place like a hospital is going to recognize a power of attorney, even if the whole document is shown to staff, to say nothing of what might happen if blood relatives challenge this power of attorney. Have you ever heard of a male/female couple where a spouse had to actually produce a copy of their marriage license in this kind of situation?

When it comes right down to it, many people in this country, not just gays, do not enjoy equal protection under the law as guaranteed in the 14th ammendment, pure and simple.

He’s another one of those helpless, self-loathing Democrats who knows they shouldn’t have wasted so much money on John Kerry — but rather than admit his precious Dems cheated him, he tries to tear down Republicans.

That’s why he and his fellow Democrats are calling gay Republicans and conservatives “Judenrats”, just as their fellow minority slave blacks call successful African-Americans “oreos” and blast them for “acting white” — they want to tear those folks down to their level.

Second, I didn’t suggest that Dr Dobson doesn’t have a significant influence in the natl GOP —never said it, never will. But I think you guys on the LeftSide of reality think it’s far more than I’ve found it to be in my experience INSIDE the GOP –and there’s the rub of it, keogh… I have a tad better advantage on perspective than you.

I simply said before you start raising the Dobson cliche up the flagpole, remember that it was your own MikeRogers (and now it turns out the HRC-hiding-behind-a-fiction-blog) that was last reaching out to Dobson and his followers in an effort to smear and embarass GOP staffers on the Hill… which didn’t work even with guys like Ian extending the smear campaign to incumbent GOP Senators.

And let’s not forget that before MikeRogers ooozed out of the sewers for this latest slimefest of the GayLeft-beholden-2-the-Democrats, the Democrats own fearless leader (well, that’s a stretch given he’s dodging any on air time in the hope that voters will forget ScreaminDean) Dr HowieDean feeding his brand of religious-Left to Pat Robertson and the 700 Club.

Not exactly the most honorable moments for those inside the atheist GayLeftBorg, was it keogh? Detach the conduit, walk off the Democrat Plantation and think for yourself. It’ll raise your IQ at least a dozen points.

It is in the hope that as Log Cabin’s new leadership will return to these noble principles that I will be rejoining the organization tonight.

Even the LCR admits that their party is owned by the Dobson Conservatives – Go to the LCR homepage. You will find an article called “Retrieve party from grasp of fundamentalists”
All of this brings up the obvious question:
How can the LCR even exist (or be relevant) when its party is owned by these “fundamentalists?”

First, the California chapter of the LC(R) is hardly rightwinged –it’s probably one of the most progressive Left, inclusive LC(R) agencies in operation.

Second, joining the group as a gay is hardly the act of submission to authority or selling out of one’s principles (religious, ethnic or otherwise). Ca has one of the most gay-tolerant LC(R)s in the nation– or do you just like to shoot from the hip with an uninformed sight and no bullet in the chamber?

Third, the LC(R)s –state-by-state and nationally– have been decidedly anti-Bush, so you ought not be snarking up some condemnation for Dan but you should be praising his contribution to a group that will likely endorse a Democrat in 2008 unless the GOP choice is Rudy Guiliani or Christie Todd Whitman or Chris Shays (all unlikely I think).

Rather than snarkily condemn Dan, you should applaud his choice.

But then, you’d need to put down the tinfoil hat, resist your urge to find solace with your gay-sellout buds over at the DailyKos, and see “political activism, writ large” as something MORE than preserving your presumed right to march down mainstreet in buttless chaps while dragging the twink pick-up left over from last night’s bareback party at your rent-subsidized low income apartment.

A little time in front of the Mirror of Truth might reflect back to you that YOU are actually the traitor to our cause by selling the gay community’s long termed interests down the river in order to help out your political Brotherhood of Victims over at the DNC. The gay community may never recover from the “leadership” given by the GayLeftDemocrats in America –you’ve antagonized the military, the Silent Majority, religion in general, Catholics in specific, and voters in state after bloody state.

With “leaders” like that, the gay agenda may never approach a constructive stage again.

Mostly because you don’t have a clue and you ought to recognize superior intellect when you have the opportunity –frankly, in the crowd you hang with, that rarely happens because the GayLeftBorg has dumbed down to its lowest common denominator.
