I think there is a fundamental difference between the parties. The GOP isn’t pure as snow, but it’s better than the mud bath of voter fraud as an election strategy in Democrat-controlled big cities across the US.

And I commend your endorsement of requiring photo ID for voting. It’s a small, tiny first step that might end the dead people voting for the Democrat nominee twice in an election. “Might”.

As for other forms of corruption, in my county in NJ, it is the Republicans that have the heavy duty corruption going. Yeah, the Democrats are corrupt here as well. But in terms of getting jobs, contracts, etc., it’s the Republicans. Now that the Dems are in power here, I suspect they will catch up and overtake the Republicans in corruption.

Unlike conventional Democrat-proposed election reforms like:

1) absentee ballots for any reason;
2) instant poll-site registration without accompanying proof of residency;
3) cross-over voting in political party primaries;
4) payment or food awards for votes cast;
5) lower standards to get any initiative on the ballot;
6) exemption of campaign calls from Do Not Call natl registries;
7) unfettered 527s;
and the “Mother of All Democrat Election Reforms”…
internet voting.

The simplest change with the greatest benefit in all of conventional reforms would be to require voters to show photo ID on election day… and the Democrats in Michigan or at DeanWorldHdQtrs are 100% opposed to the simplest of reforms.

I’ve long since abandoned the notion that we could get local Democrat clerks to clean-up voter lists under their jurisdiction and just eliminate the known dead people or those who haven’t voted in 15 years. Just that minimum of reform is opposed here in Detroit, Saginaw, Flint, Pontiac, Muskegon, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Benton Harbor, and dozens of Detroit-metro communities.

Pat, Democrats have long snubbed the idea of meaningful election reform… but they want the franchise to extend to felons in prison, illegal immigrants and unregistered voters. So it sure as heck is NOT “equal” whining from the Right and Left… and it isn’t on that axis of the political spectrum anyway… it’s GOP and Democrats.

When Democrats actually start to respect integrity of the voting system and clean-up those systems under their control, you can argue that vote fraud is bad on either side of the aisle. I’ve watched lots of polling places as a part of citizen-based voter security programs and I have yet to see the fraud occur in GOP or rural areas… it’s always been in the inner city where corruption is the standard operating procedure… in permits, in contracts, in vote counts.

Democrats can scream about electronic machines… conspiracy theories… and corporate manipulation of the electoral system but the truth is that Democrats have a long history of vote fraud that dates back to their founder Thom Jefferson.

You forget you are dealing with someone who thinks Republicans are out to exterminate him.

It’s kind of funny that lefties whine about Diebold all the time, but also strongly oppose commonsense efforts to prevent voter fraud through photo ID requirements. And it’s still a hell of a lot easier to commit frauds with paper ballots than it is with electronic voting machines. Which is probably why the Democrats hate them so much.

Or the GOP investigating voter fraud by Democrats in Missouri, Wisconsin, Washington, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Philadelphia, Detroit, Pittsburg, DC, Hawaii, Chicago, Atlanta, LA, Seattle, Boston, New Jersey, Hartford, Miami and all of Dade County, et cetera.

Right, for years the Democrats (Big Labor) and urban areas have been identified by any reasonable group as the centers of widespread structured vote fraud… for Democrats to begin crying foul in 2000 or 2004 with the mantra of “vote fraud stole the election” underscores that point: teh Demos just didn’t do enough vote fraud in those elections in order to win… or is it “not lose”.

Kevin, people in my community do trust voting machines… we just don’t trust other communities run by Democrats to share our value in protecting the integrity of the vote. That’s the problem… not the technology.

Try actually watching “hacking democracy” These folks investigated and tested their claims of voter fraud by the diebold machines and they show some pretty compelling evidence to warrant a strong look at how these systems work. Why do you think the number of abentee balloting is rising at such a fast rate? People who actually want their vote to count aren’t trusting the computers. Frankly, I think where Kerry really did fail was not pursuing the voter fraud issue in Ohio in 04

Whining? As in, “Waaaaah!! John Kerry would have won but Diebold fixed the voting machines in Ohio” or as in, “Waaaah!! AlGore would have won but the Supreme Court selected not elected Bush.”

With the likely election of Deval Patrick as governor, we’ll give America a brave new Dukakis, not to mention an advance glance at an Obama administration.

What pray tell Patrick and Obama have in common except the color of their skin? I realize that racist crap is what the GOP relies on in places like Tennessee but I’d like to think that’s not the case elsewhere in the country.
