Jules Crittenden hits the nail on the head: The anti-war movement’s big moment has arrived. The pressure for cut-and-walk is on. The moment of defeat is at hand!
While the Greatest Generation suffered 400,000 deaths in order to rid the world of Nazi Fascism, apparently America’s political leaders don’t have the stomach to confront Islamic Fascism in the same way.
The loud chorus of Kumbaya that precedes any American military unit will alert anti-American terrorists that here are people who want to understand why they hate us. Surely this will cause these heartless killers to pause, and reconsider their ways.
I expect John “Last Man” Kerry and John “Cut-and-Run” Murtha — as doves who actually have heard shots fired in anger and engaged in the American imperialist war crime that was Vietnam, but have since repented — will be leading the Doves’ Crusade. I encourage all peaceniks to climb on board for the Big Lose. When your grandkids say, “What did you do when the United States of America was humiliated?” you don’t want to have to change the subject.’
The only person standing between a major American defeat and major Islamist victory in World War III is President George Bush. Otherwise, the spines in America have become awfully soft these days.

It is theatrical, lol.
That’s why I read it. It’s entertaining.
Of course, it’s total BS. America should wait like Godot for the Iraqis to get their s**t together?
I am amused by your statement, Chase, especially since we’re still “waiting like Godot” for the Kosovars to “get their shit together”.
It never hurts to let the Iraqi government know we’re displeased with their progress. However, they seem to be doing a fine job of that themselves, which is indeed the whole point.
What is really upsetting about that to leftists is that it would likely push aside the most radical (and Iranian-dominated) portion of the Shi’ites in favor of a moderate and polyglot government — a direct face-slap to Syria and to rising tensions against the government in Iran.
You will find “cut and run” AKA “Redeployment” in Donald Rumsfield’s letter a few weeks ago.
We would have given both Sunni and Shia a fabulous lesson if we would have taken that chubette Mookie Sadr out a few years back before the real sectarian warfare started up. It would have send a wonderful message to Iran as well. He is Iran’s boy after all. I really wonder if Bush has the stamina to endure these lameduck two years in office. The Iraq Study Group is raising the surrender flag and would give legitimacy to the mullahs and Assad in Syria.
According to our Sec. of Defense, we are losing the war.
The reason for our losing is because of the strategy employed by the Bush Admin.
This is his strategy:
Do one thing, pretend we are winning, don’t change course, yet privately acknowledge the strategy is losing, but still don’t change course.
Or put another way:
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
What did Einstein call that?
Kosovo? I think the last time there was fighting in Kosovo, Prince was still partying like it was 1999… because in fact, it was.
Comparing Kosovo to Iraq is like comparing a ruptured pool raft to the sinking of the Titanic.
BTW, Senator Barrack Obama will be on Monday Night Football tonight
I knew I owned stock in Walt Disney for a reason, good choice. 🙂
Well, looks like we’re screwed then.
And of course, having 3,000 or so troops in Kosovo is EXACTLY like spending 8 billion a month and 3 or 4 kids killed a day in Iraq.
Kosovo? I think the last time there was fighting in Kosovo, Prince was still partying like it was 1999… because in fact, it was.
Mhm…..so why are there still US troops there?
Comparing Kosovo to Iraq is like comparing a ruptured pool raft to the sinking of the Titanic.
Actually, you’re not far off; the Dems considered Milosevic the Titanic in terms of disaster, but downplayed Saddam as a ruptured pool raft.
And please do put Obama up again; I for one would love to hear why he’s so hep to intervene in Darfur for humanitarian reasons, but thought intervening in Iraq, where Saddam was making Darfur look clumsy and amateurish in terms of genocide and mass murder, was “unnecessary and unjustified”.
And of course, having 3,000 or so troops in Kosovo is EXACTLY like spending 8 billion a month and 3 or 4 kids killed a day in Iraq.
What I really wish you and yours would say, Davebo, is this: “The ratio of 125-plus Iraqis killed under Saddam (conservatively estimated) for every 1 US soldier killed in getting rid of him is too high; US soldiers are worth more Iraqi lives than that”.
You won’t get in any trouble with your fellow Democratic leftists if you say that; after all, they were perfectly OK with over 1 million Vietnamese getting imprisoned, tortured, killed, and “re-educated” in exchange for no more US casualties in Vietnam.
In Iraq, the US is absorbing the cost that is a direct result of the world’s intrasigence in not dealing with Saddam Hussein. It would be nice if there were more to help with that, other than the UK, but let’s face facts; for France, Germany, Russia, China, the UN, and the other states that leftists like yourself are citing, Saddam was a multibillion-dollar cash cow of direct bribes to them, markets free from US competition for the exports of their nationalized armament and weaponry companies, and cheap oil.
Worse, by doing so, Saddam knew he was buying the one thing he needed — time to arm. Once he achieved his weapons goals, it was irrelevant. Iran is doing the same thing; they know that European leftists are more than willing to look the other way in exchange for cash, and the Democratic Party, who is desperate for said leftists’ approval, will follow their lead.
Apparently, President Bush isn’t ready to surrender to our enemies (Syria and Iran – backing Hezbollah, Sadr and al Qaeda) just yet:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/07/AR2006120700162.html?nav=rss_politics
Thank God! Some good news!
I thought we won the war already. We cleared out the stockpiles and piles and piles of WMD. We dethroned Saddam Hussein and pulled down his statue and found him in a hole (really, we did, I saw it on Nancy Grace!). And then we, well, what did we, anyway….we won. So time to come home now…with the spines of the troops intact.
P.S. It’s worth noting that the Washington Post editorial board agrees with Bush:

Hat tips: CaptainsQuarters for the first cite; Instapundit for the second.
And BTW, the Rumsfeld memo did NOT call for cut-and-run, as falsely claimed in #4. It would appear that the author of #4 either didn’t read the memo, or, didn’t understand what he was reading. I wrote a longer reply with specifics, but yes, the spam filter ate it. This is all I’m going to say, the second time around.
#13 – Indeed, jimmy. We won the anti-Saddam part of the war and that is a great, positive achievement.
What remains is the al Qaeda-killing part of the war. And, in reality (i.e., according to boots on the ground), that war has been going fairly well as well – but (1) it is unfortunately a time-consuming process… and (2) we haven’t been winning it in the fantasy world of defeatist liberal media, that you read.

Powerline has a wonderful take on the ISG report, relevant to this thread: http://powerlineblog.com/archives/016153.php
Are you guys just teenagers, or are you willfully forgetting the Reagan/Kirkpatrick years? Seriously.
[Comment deleted for violating community rules of conduct.]
GP Ed. Note — Monty you are on the short list for a permanent ban. Take the personal insults somewhere else.
Bush can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in this war on terrorism, but time and the American public’s will are not on his side.
A soldier in Iraq has something to say about all this.
Fans of the Iraq Surrender Group, and especially those silly people who think making concessions to Iran is a great idea, must be really embarrassed that their Iranian heroes are hosting a Holocaust Denial Conference. Or, maybe not. There are at least a couple of people in this forum who think a Second Holocaust is a small price to pay for American Humiliation. (Just as the deaths of six million Southeast Asians were a small price to pay for liberals getting to gloat over American Humiliation in Vietnam.)
Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi’s pick to head the Intelligence Committee doesn’t know what Hezbollah is, and is clueless about Osama bin Laden’s religious affiliation.
Yes, the crooks have been replaced by the nuts. This is your Democrat Congress.
Bruce, you may be right when you write that only Bush stands between cowardice in Iraq and defeat in the WOT… it does seem like “French Fever” has infected DC these days. The benefit of all that is that, unlike the drills for child students in the 50s hiding under their desks, the liberals now will just have them practice raising both hands when the air raid sirens go off. So much easier and less traumatic for the little ones, eh?
Who’d have thought that some day in a comparison of the French to some former American leaders, the French would look like war heroes? It’s a world turned upside down and we’re only moments away from the Islamofascists declaring victory over the West… and bringing the jihad back to American soil.
I hope the bed made by the liberals will serve to keep them warm over the next 2 years. It’ll be the shortest lease on Congress yet.
You rightists are going mad.
Look, the path that Bush chose has led to Chaos in Iraq and Afghanistan
The links that Cal provided prove that Bush’s policy has wasted our soldier’s heroic efforts.
The path that Bush choose has become the national humiliation (to use someone’s words) Now we should change the path. As I have shown in other threads, to not change is simply insanity.
To label a change of course as “surrender” only puts salt in the national wounds caused by Bush.
Further, the shot at a Dem’s intelligence is well taken, but amusing from someone who is a proud Bush supporter
Which is of course, why we are DOOMED!
Whose fault is that? Keep wringing those hands, Gryph. (Instead of stepping forward with good ways, leaders and ideas for AMERICAN VICTORY.)
Further, the shot at a Dem’s intelligence is well taken, but amusing from someone who is a proud Bush supporter.
Once again, you prove yourself a profoundly silly person who doesn’t have the slightest clue what he’s talking about. I have never been a Bush supporter, much less a proud one. I have strongly criticized Bush’s positions on spending, illegal immigration, Harriet Miers, and, yes, even his tepid conduct of the war. I severely pissed off Michigan-Matt for criticizing the Republican Congress.
I am, unlike the Iraq Surrender Group, a great supporter of American victory in Iraq and elsewhere.
Just because you stupidly follow your party leadership without questioning or criticism, don’t assume everyone else does, you silly git.
Furthermore, it isn’t Bush spreading chaos to Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s the silly person’s good friends the Iranians and Syrians, the people silly person thinks we should be kowtowing to in order to bring “peace.”
In contrast to the terror being spread by Silly Person’s Iranian Heroes, This is what our side is doing.
They took the house by force just before sunbreak. It was a tiny four rooms shared by three generations of a Shiite family. The family was as terrified as their intruders, but welcomed the soldiers and offered them food. They pleaded with the soldiers to take the 4-month-old girl to the United States. It was obvious that the baby was showered with great family affection, but a birth defect had resulted in her bladder being outside of her body.
As darkness returned, another Marine vehicle came by and the soldiers left. They were going back to safety. The loss of their friend made the three inseparable. They shared fractures in their souls as well as a renewed steely determination. They spoke of the baby. The word spread and soon the entire company knew of the baby. The baby became their private mascot, representing goodness and hope without confusion.
A team was assembled and they set out in the dark. It was a two-hour drive under the best of conditions, but this night the wind carried the sand in a nearly blinding gale. The house was dark and the family asleep, but the door opened moments after the first knock. The soldiers were warmly greeted. They couldn’t stay but they had come for the baby. The baby was wrapped in the best blankets and handed to the departing Humvee. The family would send someone to follow in the days ahead.
The baby arrived back at camp. Few babies on Earth have had this many champions.
See, the Iranians and Syrians, who Silly Person thinks we should negotiate with, murder babies and children. Our side treats them differently. And Silly Person blames US for the chaos.
Remember, these are the soldiers Silly Person’s left-wing comrades are literally spitting on. when they return from duty.
For the first time, GP (Bruce), you are right.
I have become way too snarky recently and will follow your example on how to apply your “rules” when posting.
My apologies to all.
monty
A short lease on Congress, eh?
The Republicans really are slow learners. If the war in Iraq isn’t over in two years time, you and your fellow Republicans will be experiencing a bad case of deja-vu on election night in 2008, Michigan-Matt.
The majority wants the war to end. If it does not end, the voters will again punish the President’s party on election night in two years time.
Silly Person’s Hero (and the ISG’s “Partner for Peace”) : “Israel’s days are numbered”
Classic! VnK brings up Lauren Maggi’s awful deed inorder to create a false line in the sand! (I encourage anyone who is interested to do a google search on “Lauren Maggi” its fascinating glimpse into how the rightist hype machine works)
I have never seen you condemn the Westboro Baptists..they do a lot of spitting yet their views more closely align themselves with the Repubs…
But you know what? I don’t see many lefties extrapolating the WB’s troop hatred to all rightists…
And I am glad you have cleared up the fact that you don’t think Bush is a good president and Commander in Chief. I don’t either!
At least we can agree on that.
Now if we can find consensus on a new way forward in Iraq, people can call us the internet version of “Baker-Hamilton”
Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptists are Democrats, you silly git. F And you are being silly, ignorant, and dishonest as usual by claiming I’ve never criticized them when they are regular objects of ridicule on my blog. And Fred Phelps and his cult are roundly condemned throughout the right side of the blogosphere.
On the other hand, Lauren Meggi’s actions are entirely consistent with the prevailing attitudes of the Democratic Underground and Indymedia, (which featured images of US soldiers photoshopped with Nazi regalia), Daily “Screw ‘Em” Kos, and other popular left-wing sites where U.S. soldiers are portrayed as murderous thugs and dupes.
You know, Silly Person, maybe you should check your facts before spouting off ignorantly. But if you limited yourself to posting accurate statements, we’d never hear from you again.
Check my facts?
Don’t you in post 32 claim that W.B. are dems? (Not True)
Don’t you make the claim that “left-wing comrades” are spitting on the soldiers when they arrive? (Not true)
Further, I typed “never seen” not “never have” That’s a big difference…
What does matt say…something about reading 4 comprehension…
Anyway…this discussion did make me look at your blog…not bad! And funny too!
Good work
A wonderfully clear-sighted analysis from Robert Tracinski in today’s WSJ, of the ISG report and what we really should be doing to win:
http://www.opinionjournal.com/federation/feature/?id=110009374
Cal – That is too one sided. It does nothing to look at the how the Saudis need to clamp down on the Sunni. And he hasn’t learned the lesson of Humpty Dumpty. Its hard to put things together once their broke…
No, the best thing to do is what Biden said to do. Split it into three – Iraq’s borders were created by the Brits less than 100 years ago.
Why not recognize that those lines have run their course?
Further I just read David Duke was in Iran for holocaust deniers symposium…hmmm
Look, what do you expect. Schools don’t teach history. You know Chamberlain, Churchill and true leadership. Even during the Revolutionary War, a third were for the Brits, a third the Patriots, and a third were “undecided moderates”. Schools don’t teach what happens when you don’t take care of problems before they become horrific problems. The left would rather leave this for another generation to deal with. We as Americans are too busy shopping and X Boxing to be bothered with other lands and persecutions. And if you are Godless, hey whats the punishment for looking the other way? In Nazi Germany, HItler was God. So murdering Jews came with no expectation of going to hell one day.
We won another seat. 🙂 In a Texas size upset, former Democrat Rep. Ciro Rodriguez defeats Republican incumbent Henry Bonilla, 57% to 43%.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16178317/from/RS.1/
And again, if Bush won’t end the war, they’ll be more where that came from in 2008.
LOL…..oh, perfect. Nothing like Rodriguez, who supports complete amnesty for illegal aliens and voted AGAINST every single attempt to make our borders more secure against terrorism, to make it obvious what the leftist Democrats like Chase believe.
#34: Silly person, you need to check wikipedia.
And, yes, my statement about lefties spitting on soldiers was accurate. Lauren Meggi is a leftie. She spit on a returning soldier. Other lefties have committed vandalism at recruiting centers and physically attacked recruiters in, for example, Seattle and Santa Cruz.
And if we follow the Biden plan and split Iraq up, what happens to places that are mixed Sunni/Shiite or Sunni Kurd? Do the words “ethnic cleansing” mean anything to you, Silly Person? If the Iraqis decide to split up, that’s their choice. But forcing that final solution on them seems rather imperialistic to me. But then again, damn the consequences! The important thing is to humiliate Bush. Right, silly person?
And you clearly meant to imply that I had never criticized Fred Phelps. Playing a silly word game is… well, Clintonian. But it still reflects that you spouted off in ignorance… which is all you ever do.
VdaK writes: “I severely pissed off Michigan-Matt for criticizing the Republican Congress.”
Nawh. Can’t happen. BTW, I agree with keogh… you have a great, funny iconclastic site V… it’s a pitstop for humor every morning. I hope Sullie checks it out every so often.
Phelps a Dem?
By your standard of what constitutes party membership, your republican pals met in Iran to question the holocaust. (David Duke)
Liberals are not spitting on soldiers?
By your standard of what constitutes ideological membership, conservatives are protesting at soldiers funerals (Westboro Crew)
Perhaps you need to review your standards…
And no all “never seen” means “never seen.”
On to important stuff:
Ethnic warfare is already happening lets stop making it worse…
The borders were already imposed on Iraq in imperialistic fashion, why hold them. And by fortifying their neighborhoods and regions, they are already deciding to separate…I predict that in the next 2-3 years, the Kurds leave..
And the point is to stabilize the country and get the F%&k out, nobody cares about a lame duck president whose failed strategy has already created a “National Humiliation” (to use someone’s words)
I am honest enough to admit that David Duke registered himself as a Republican and has since been pretty much drummed out of the party… unlike another Klansman, a Democrat who is going to be President Pro Tem of the Senate come January.
But denying that Fred Phelps is a Democrat when he ran for office as a Democrat and endorsed Al Gore is the height of silliness, unless you can produce evidence that Phelps changed his political affiliation.
According to wikipedia, Phelps is also a champion of Fidel Castro. Also, the Westboro Baptards went to Iraq when Saddam was in power to offer themselves as human shields. Except for one issue, it appears they are much more ideologically comfortable on the left.
(See what happens when you actually look up stuff instead of just spew DailyKos talking points.)
I’m laughing right back at ya NDT!
If Republicans like yourself want to keep on using the the same old tired talking points that Americans have rejected, thereby continuing to lose more elections, that’ll be just fine by me.
That is fine.
You can call him a dem if it fits your purpose.
No matter how you spin it, its still not true.
Just as it is not true that liberals are spitting on soldiers!
Chase, dear… the decks chairs on YOUR Titanic are already arranged for a first row seat in the sinking of that “Democrat mandate” you’re so fond of… you know, the one the “voters” unsuspectingly gave to the most corrupt pre-sworn crowd of Congressional leaders since… well, gosh, for a long long time.
Fiddle with your backseat… get the lap blanket ready… your ship is going down in less than 2.
First it was bye bye Al-manbear-Gore… now it’s bye bye mandate. I like that your laughter is now joined with wise, knowledgable Republicans who have your passage ticket punched.
Bye bye Chase.
No matter how you spin it, its still not true.
Just as it is not true that liberals are spitting on soldiers!
And since Lauren Maggi proves that lefties are spitting on soldiers (not to mention the protesters in Ithaca and Santa Cruz and, oh yeah, the San Francisco city council {figuratively}) …
It’s kind of funny the way you can cite absolutely zero evidence to support your claim that Fred Phelps is something other than a democrat who sought political office as a Democrat and was a Gore supporter, an anti-war activist, and a fan of Fidel Castro … but you just pound your fists and shriek “He’s not, he’s not, it can’t be true” because the invasion of contrary facts into your elaborate fantasy world simply can not be tolerated.
You know one poster at Democrats-dot-com commented on Maggi and said she admired her moxie and hoped she would run for Congress. I’d provide you a link, but I don’t think your delicate fantasy world could handle it.
Speaking of leftist hate, Hot Air is reporting (And backing it up with screencaps) that DemUnderground is frantically deleting posts from lefties expressing praise and support for David Duke at the Holocaust Denial Conference.
Another unwanted intrusion of reality into silly person’s fantasy world where all conservatives are knuckle-dragging bigots, all liberals are enlightened beings, and those children that are permitted to be born are above average.
VdaK, David Duke has spent more of his life as a Democrat than anything else… including GOPer, Libertarian, and a few others.
Since we’re now off-topic by just a tad… I have never understood the willingness of GayLeftDemocrats to tolerate the bigoted, hatefilled, homophobic speech and policies found commonly in BigLabor union halls across the US. Factory workers in union shops are some of the most bigoted, hatefilled people I encountered in our efforts to advocate for civil unions in Michigan.
And my GayLeftDemocrat friends embrace those people at rallies against NAFTA, rallies against WalMart, rallies against the World Bank almost like those organized union members were all fag hags. It’s amazing how far the proverbial GayLeftDemocrat head will turn to avoid reality and avoid recognizing who they’re laying down with on that infamous political bed.
And the GayLeftBorg gets mad at conservatives because we’re “enablers” of the ReliRight? Talk about projection. Gheez.
It’s not that hard to understand, Matt. The left and the Democrats have always been about power. They will overlook anything in order to gain power (as the parade of sleazabags in Nancy Pelosi’s “Cleanest Congress Ever” clearly demonstrates.)
The Democrat Party was founded under Andrew Jackson, who took power by taking land away from American Indians and distributing it to white settlers. The Democrat party took power in the south by taking labor away from black people, and distributing it to white slaveowners who kept them in power.
The only difference is, in the modern era, the Democrats confiscate wealth from people who work and distribute it to people who don’t, all in the service of power. The left cares about nothing except power, and will do anything to get it and hold onto it. If NAMBLA were a large enough voting bloc, the Democrats would demand taxpayer-funded subsidies for child-sized handcuffs, and there would be university degree programs in Pedophile Studies..
