What I find amusing is how vaara, in attempting to prove that the intolerant left isn't, makes this statement:

Heck, even the über-ultra-super-duper FemoDemoMarxoMexoHomoLiberal San Francisco Chronicle has a resident "libertarian" columnist, Debra Saunders, whose viewpoints have a curious way to aligning precisely with whatever the latest RNC blast-fax says.

Sort of like the KKK saying, "We're not racist because we hired a black accountant, even though we believe he's an incompetent moron who can't think for himself like all other black people."

Pointing out that Debra Saunders works at the Chronicle is negated and turned upside-down by the fact that you belittle and mock her in the same sentence, vaara.

It looks like Fox News finally took off the kid gloves when dealing with Andrea Cooper's lies and distortions. This is priceless!

http://newsbusters.org/node/10364

I suggest we start calling Cooper "Paris" from this time forth.

Regards,
Peter H.

#29 illustrates the MSM concept of balance. If you include one moderate conservative columnist or commentator for every 1,000 left-liberal commentators, columnists, editors, reporters, and anchors, that's "balance"

And, in terms of intellectual throw-weight, that may be right.

vaara writes: "The so-called "liberal" media is far more tolerant of opposing viewpoints than the conservative media is." I really, really doubt that... and if YOU believe that bunk, you need to put down the Advocate magazine and read more.

However, that is a lesson the GayLeft ought to learn when embracing their gay brothers on the Right or gays who declare themselves to be religious or patriotic or pro-military or Republican.... or all of the above.

But of course, as well proven here, it's better to demean, belittle and try to revoke their GayCard... so much for that living, loving compassionate liberal meanstreak called the GayLeft. Right vaara, the liberal media is oh so tolerant of conservatives... almost as much as university elites.

#23 - Exactly. These zillionaire Democrats stand for spending other people's money - usually the money of middle- and upper-middle-class folks who might rise to threaten their power.

And no, JAQ, their programs don't help people. It's been shown time and time again that the War on Poverty has kept poor people down, destroyed their family structures, etc.

You're 0-for-2!

President Clinton, through his private HIV-AIDS Initiative foundation, began helping AIDS victims in China as well as lower drug prices for patients in the country in 2004.

Your hated George Soros gives away millions a year of his own money.

Oprah, whom Bill O'Reilly sneers as a "secular progressive," heads her Angel Network which has a 4 star rating with Charity Navigator. She covers all administrative costs personally and to date has raised over $51 million for non-profit organizations around the world.

Heard of Warren Buffet? The Democrat signing over $37 billion of his fortune to charity?

Bill Gates, another one of those secular progressive who while not technically a Democrat is certainly a liberal and we know of he and his wife's charitable fund.

Gordon and Betty Moore?

Ted Kennedy heads the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation, along with Eunice Shriver, and he also donated the net proceeds of his children's book to charity.

Even Cooper himself donated part of the proceeds from a 2005 book deal to charity.

You're kidding right?

"I have no misconceptions that there are a lot of wealthy Democrats, but in general they do seem to advocate, if not sponsor, programs designed to bring people up rather than ignoring the less fortunate."

Okay, JAQ - name one. And I'm not talking about anything they're trying to pass in Congress. Name ONE program that a liberal Dhimmicrat created that runs without government funding, is wholly subsidized by his/her personal fortune, and has name recognition.

We're waiting.

Regards,
Peter H.

Sorry, we don't have Trader Joe's in Houston. I prefer going to Fiesta (Hispanic owned-and-operated; freshest produce available, straight from the undocumented migrant workers). They're very Catholic and for a while didn't sell OTC birth control devices until someone went ballistic on them.

There's also Randall's (so conservative that until recently they didn't sell alcohol or distribute free papers because they advertised same-sex dating, i.e. "Men Seeking Men" and "Women Seeking Women."). They got all sorts of flak about that last one so they had to change their policies.

Interestingly enough, both retailers have stores in the gay section of town, and I bet you nobody realized that they were contributing to the vast right-wing conspiracy by shopping there. So much for "voting with their pocketbooks."

Of course, me being me, I always love to tweak the libs by pointing this stuff out. ;-P

Regards and happy shopping,
Peter H.

Well, you should shop at Trader Joe's. They're cheaper than Safeway and their stuff is better! And their shopping bags have "God" on them. (Really.)

Actually, the best description of a liberal combines both yours and mine. To wit: just check out the average shopper at Whole Foods Market.

Trust me, I'm too poor to be THAT liberal.

Peter H.

Well, it does rather contradict the *other* popular stereotype about liberals, which is that we're all patchouli-drenched, dope-smoking, flea-infested, worthless unemployable hippies.

Vaara, do you prefer the term "champagne socialists" instead? More alliterative and just as apt.

Regards,
Peter H.

The "rich liberals" argument is the flipside of the "chickenhawk" argument, and is just about as valid.

"Apparently in your world it's only OK to have money when you don't do something to help those less fortunate, right?"

Okay, JAQ - like the Kennedys, Clintons, Pelosis, Boxers et al who preach "do as I say, not as I do?"

Try again.

Regards,
Peter H.
