Funny. I generally check out the real people involved in politics to form an opinion, not trying to read the lines between the dialogue in a late night comedy skit. Then again, how about we tally up the number of skits making fun of Republicans as opposed to Democrats. Madeline Kahn as Pat Nixon writing her memoirs about life in the White House with Nixon (Dan Akroyd) was a particular favorite of mine.

#9 - Vic, those are her ONLY points. What are her positions on pressing issues? In her iPod campaign kickoff, she spoke in nebulous terms about "the future" without relating what she would do about the troubles facing us NOW. We're in a war, remember?

In general, Americans know far more about her troubled marriage than they do about her positions on energy independence or the Iranian nuclear threat. Plus, she has one big albatross around her neck - Slick Willie himself.

For more than thirty years, the lady has been upstaged by the Big Lug and she wants with all her heart to break the pattern. Note Bill’s absence and virtual silence during the bally-hooed launch of her Presidential campaign.

If she can’t even stand up to a cheating husband, how can we expect her to contend with North Korea and Iran?

Plus, when they travel together, guess who gets the most attention? Not her, that's for sure.

Aside from the constant danger of upstaging her, Slick Willie's very presence would remind people that Hillary’s main claim to national political stature involves her complicated marriage to this complicated guy. That’s not a message her managers need or want to reinforce.

In the end, it will be her undoing.

Regards,
Peter H.

Margaret Thatcher was a woman?

If Hillary or Reno got their sex changed, Maggie would still be more of a woman.

If Hillary is the Democratic nominee, this is our election to lose.

Rudy, the future is yours. Take the ring to Mount Doom and I humbly submit your runningmate.

Godspeed!

I think this skit also illustrates how the media gives a free pass to liberals. Chris Matthews plays "hardball" only with those he disagrees with -- I remember during the 2004 election, he invited Michelle Malkin on the show only to badger her, insult her and interrupt her as she was trying to answer his questions. Many considered it rude, but for many Asians, it showed in addition that he harbored the stereotype of Asian women being submissive.

On that note, I always thought conservatism was a natural fit for Asian Americans, given their work ethic, family values and the fact that affirmative action hurts them more than any other racial group, even whites.

I wonder why liberals think conservatives don't want women leaders, when, the female leaders of the world are nearly always members of a conservative political party.

But then again, it's just an observation. I sort of hoped Bush would have appointed a woman as Chief Justice.

I certainly don't have anything against powerful women. Especially great ones like Margaret Thatcher, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Condi Rice and Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The funny part about this sketch is that the left-wing writers at SNL are basically admitting that the right has been right about Hillary since 1992. Her critics (self included) have always seen her as power-hungry, phony, vain, evasive, profane, unethical, and controlling. And her apologists on the left would always whine that anyone who criticized Hillary was just beating up on her just because we were afraid of "powerful women." (And then they would call Michelle Malkin a racist whore and Ann Coulter a Nazi.)
