I’m pretty sure this sums it up accurately.  (Nice job, GatewayPundit!)

I’d add Israel and Afghanistan to the “good guys” list. My guess, too, is–if they could speak freely–the majority of Iranian citizens would be with the “yeas” too.

    Wow, an Excel spreadsheet!

Well, that’s it. I’m convinced. The entire Democratic Party (except Joe Lieberman) is directly between Syria and Iran on the “Hate America” scale. Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, and John Edwards are closet Shiite Ba’athists, and this Excel spreadsheet proves it!!!1!

You guys are too stupid. Let me explain it.

We know that we want to lose in Iraq. We know that when we lose in Iraq, it will help us, the democrats, get in total power again, with a dem president in 08. We also know that when we lose in Iraq, it will lead to more terrorism.

But it also means that on the next 9-11, the president will be one of us. So, then, the war on terror will belong to us. Then, we’ll be in it to win it. When it’s our war, not yours. We can do everything Bush did, but nobody will complain because it will be our war.

Get it? We’re not going to let you win the war on terror. The war on terror is our hostage. Until you put us in charge, we won’t let you win.

  7. VinceTN says

    January 28, 2007 at 6:05 pm - January 28, 2007

No, only a small percent make the traitor column although the euphamism for them is Progressives. I don’t believe Americans will allow Leftists to lose another war for spite. The costs in lives and money does deserve more effort from Bush and supportive congressmen as far as communication goes, however, and I’ll always carry a certain low opinion of Bush for his failure in that aspect.

I wish they’d ban polls for a 3 month trial period just to see if our “leaders” in Congress can actually think for themselves.

Ain’t gonna happen. The libs know they’ll have to put themselves on the stand as well. Even your sweet and precious lord BJ will have to answer questions. Besides, if we get impeachment hearings, that will solidify Pelosi’s position as a dirty liar.

and this Excel spreadsheet proves it!!!1!

You’re right. We should rely on military records typed up at Kinkos instead.

  12. ThatGayConservative says

    January 29, 2007 at 7:14 am - January 29, 2007

Don’t get me wrong. I would welcome impeachment hearings as would the WH. Libs would have to take the stand and BJ would have to take time away from fabricating a “legacy”. The American people would find out who the libs really are as they would have to testify that they support the WOT and the invasion of Iraq as long as a Republican didn’t do it.

Then of course we would find out about the different measures they approved, such as a troop increase, right up until Bush decided to do it. We’d find out what they voted for before they voted against it. We’d see all the liberal subversive attempts to undermine Bush for political purposes. We’d see how they whine about Bush not listening to the generals, then when Petraeus tells them their efforts to play politics with our soldiers would demoralize them and encourage our enemy, they tell him to shut the h@ll up.

I’m all for impeachment hearings. May the liberals grow some balls and bring it on!

Now my question – will there be a member of Congress who will have the stones to launch an inquiry as to why the DC police could not handle a crowd MUCH SMALLER than the prior week’s “Right to Life” marchers (which garnered much less press coverage than this week’s moonbat brigade)?

I have to agree with other bloggers on this topic – DC police chief Morse should be held accountable for this travesty, and should be relieved of his duties effective immediately.

Tom- people in iran speak freely. They don’t have the same protections we have here but they still do. they want iraq to succeed, not neccasarily us in iraq. they, not us, are their neighbors. I take from the DC Police Chief’s statements that the “radicals” were just expressing their free speech rights and it was no big deal that he was probably sympathetic to them.

The pro-life march was at least 10 times bigger and nothing like that happened; again demonstrating the relative character of the people on the right versus the left.

no. My point is it isn’t black and white. in europe they don’t have a 1st ammendment right to free speech. Some guy got put in jail for holocaust denial. Is europe a tyranny because they put a guy in jail for holocaust denial? i don’t think so. they just have a less certain definiation of fee speech. Iran is below the US in EVERY respect, freedom of speech is just one and not the most egregious one. I’ve seen two Iranian movies that are explicitly political and all about how women are treated there and whatnot. They are behind us, but that doesn’t mean they are an insane dictatorship. I talk to shia muslims every day, they have some loony ideas about government and the economy but they’re learning. the obstacle is western rhetoric and sanctions, which do nothing but empower the hardliners

no they don’t. look, islamism is doomed for the same reason communism was doomed: big government makes for a lousy economy. it’s only a matter of time. we waited out the commies, islam we can do standing on our collective ear. Theres no way so many of them can have interenet access and not figure it out sooner or later.

Communism didn’t fall because we just waited out and did nothing, short bus. It took people with guts to confront the Evil Empire, with the willingness to match their military strength and make it clear what the consequences would be. While liberal appeasers wailed and moaned that tough talk with the Soviets would lead to nuclear war.

v to the k- goggle “the economic calculation problem” if you arne’t already familiar with it. central planning can’t compete with free markets. communism was doomed from the start.

and there were plenty of conservatives who criticized reagan for detente and for talking with gorbachev. they were wrong, obviously those talks with gorbachev were very helpful to our cause and against theirs. If we had invaded moscow and started handing out “aid” we would have been heroes for about 4 seconds then it would have been world war 3.

North Dallas 30 in comment #28 ought to back up his outrageous allegations by poroviding links to the statements in which Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy and other elected Democrats “insist” that the United States is a “fascist dictatorship” and that Iran is “just a peace-loving paradise.”

With just a few exceptions, the Democratic members of the House and Senate love America just as much as anyone posting at this site. I don’t agree with a lot of what they stand for, but I sure don’t question their patriotism. Patriotism isn’t defined as adherence to right-wing Republican views.

We are a constitutional republic and legitimate debate and honest dissent are among the foundations on which our freedom rests. (In that spirit, Bruce GP, how dare you lump Chuck Hagel, a decorated Vietnam veteran and strong supporter of the U. S. military, in with American enemies Iran and Syria.)

Go to DailyKos, a Code Pink rally, or any antiwar demonstration, and you’ll see it and hear it.

(In that spirit, Bruce GP, how dare you lump Chuck Hagel, a decorated Vietnam veteran and strong supporter of the U. S. military, in with American enemies Iran and Syria.)

Benedict Arnold was a decorated veteran and strong supporter of the US military — until he decided to betray them for personal gain.

Hegel, like Arnold, has decided to throw in his lot with the United States’s enemies for his own personal gain and power.

  35. Michigan-Matt says

    January 31, 2007 at 2:56 pm - January 31, 2007

Ashley, Chuck Hagel is not only a twice decorated VN war veteran, but while he was challenging incumbent NE Sen Ben Nelson for the job, he staked out positions on a litany of issues which would be endorsed by most conservatives here. He fought against cuts in the VA budget, he headed up USO for a while, worked as a conservative political operative for years and years… except now he’s deep in bed with the anti-Iraq War crowd… sort of like Jim Jeffords on education issues but without the conservative credentials. Plus, he made a ton of bucks in the cellphone business and investment banking… he can bring a lot of money to any campaign. No small asset for a GOP candidate, no matter how stinky.

The problem is that Hagel smells political defeat and the real threat of becoming a 1-term Senator unless he moves to the Left on Iraq. The House elections may not have solved everything, but they’ve put the fear of God (voters) in politicos up for re-election in 2008 –as Hagel is. Unlike some here, I’ll take even a smelly GOPer over a Dem anyday in that seat.

I don’t think the decorated war veteran is as noteworthy for understanding (or defending) Hagel as much as might be his wish to remain Nebraska’s Senator. And for that point, no amount of war ribbon yardage ought to cut special slack in the political arena for decrying motivations –as NDXXX points out above with the Gen Arnold reference.

  36. Peter Hughes says

I didn’t figure Nebraska to be a purple state, let alone a blue one. What kind of demographic shift is this? Makes no sense to me. I thought Nebraska was redder than Tom Osborne’s uniform.

North Dallas 30 — I’ve known Chuck Hagel since he was a young staff member in a congressman’s office. He is one of the most principled men in public office today. It is outrageous to compare him to a traitor like Benedict Arnold. When did dissent become treason?

Michigan Matt — Chuck Hagel’s positions on the war in Iraq are not designed to help his re-election bid for the Senate. If anything, his opposition to some of President Bush’c policies has had the opposite effect, eroding his popularity with Nebraska’s Republicans (who hold a wide registration lead over Democrats). About a year ago a poll showed Hagel very popular with Democrats and Democratic Senator Ben Nelson (who won 70 percent of the vote in his re-election last year) very popular with Republicans.

  38. Michigan-Matt says

    February 2, 2007 at 2:39 pm - February 2, 2007

Ashley, it’s a state with a long tradition of tolerating or enjoying mavericks… Hagel and Nelson are both. Being against the Prez on Iraq is a perfect path in Nebraska to keep your status as maverick and still garner Democrat votes.

I doubt that his leadership on the anti-war Iraq team is hurting his reelection bid since, in Nebraska, Iraq is as unpopular as camel gnats at an armpit convention.

Hagel is, like Warner, operating out of self-interest. To claim a politician is doing otherwise is to forget the strong ego and competitive nature that brought them to that office.

Hagel’s working “it”, Ashley… the boy is working it good.
