I’m glad to see that conservatives are disgusted by this stupid joke by Ann Coulter.
Bryan Preston from Hot Air has the lowdown.
Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.
Here’s what she said…..”I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”
I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.
Thanks, Ann.
Michelle Malkin joins in with her thoughts after Coulter’s “joke“.
A smattering of laughter.
Not from this corner.
Crickets chirping.
Dean Barnett at HughHewitt.com goes quite further (as does his commenters) in rebuking Coulter’s slur.
Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.
I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.
That pretty much says all one needs to about Ann’s stupidity and rabidness.
But let me offer this observation: I have no doubt that Ann’s remarks will make all of the national news networks and will be endlessly repeated. Fine. They should be assailed.
But why the complete silence by the same networks on the Leftist Bloggers cheering the attempted assassination of the Vice President of the United States?
I know, I know….consistency and ethics are too much to ask for from our news media these days. Meanwhile, Ann Coulter can go away.
**UPDATE** – Captain Ed has a great response to Ann Coulter’s “joke“. (Thanks, Calarato!)
At some point, Republicans will need to get over their issues with homosexuality. Regardless of whether one believes it to be a choice or a hardwired response, it has little impact on anyone but the gay or lesbian person. We can argue that homosexuality doesn’t require legal protection, but not when we have our front-line activists referring to them as “faggots” or worse. That indicates a disturbing level of animosity rather than a true desire to allow people the same rights and protections regardless of their lifestyles.
I’d like to think that this blog, in its attempts to dialogue with the conservative community, has helped in the moderation of the views of gays in America as is reflected in Capt. Ed’s comments.
Much work left to be done! One day at a time.
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
Captain Ed has also slammed Coulter’s slam.
The woman is basically a publicity hound. She should marry Michael Moore or Dinesh D’Souza (now moving into her territory with his intellectually cheap, weird new book) or another of that ilk.
I have seldom heard Ann Coulter on TV or the radio when she didn’t mar her intended message by saying something she thought “cute” or “clever” that crossed the line.
The best nickname I’ve heard given to Ann Coulter is ‘Twiggy with Tourette’s’.
Reminds me of something that happened just this last weekend while I was attending the Federalist Society’s annual student symposium. The theme was “Law and Morality,” so of course, between panel talks on theories of moral behavior and whether the government can/should foster virtue, there was the obligatory debate on gay marriage. While the woman speaking “anti” did have some cringe-worthy moments, it was basically an elevated and interesting discussion, and the questions from the students mostly continued the trend, leaving me pleased that many agreed with the pro-same sex marriage advocate, and those who disagreed were respectful… until one of the last questioners dropped a bomb about how “sodomy… is in its nature destructive” and leads to death, disease and debauchery and should thus be legally censured, not endorsed. There was scattered applause from the Liberty/Regent/Ave Maria law school crowds, but overall, even the anti-marriage equality woman backed away quickly and the atmosphere of the room grew tense at the recognition of bigotry in its midst. This is the next generation of conservative legal thinkers, and stuff like this just doesn’t fly – this is good news.
In answer to your question ( But why the complete silence by the same networks on the Leftist Bloggers cheering the attempted assassination of the Vice President of the United States?), I think you may be close to an answer yourself: Was it “front-line” activists and celebrity speakers who cheered that assassination attempt or commenters on a blog who did so? And did the laughter that greeted such a comment echo “across the room”?
The comments about Cheney’s brush with death were juvenile as well as morally wrong, and should be (and were) condemned. But there is a difference between anonymice on a blog or forum and keynote speakers. You and I both know we could troll DU and FreeRepublic and find just about any stereotype of the left and right respectively that we wanted, people holding any number of sickening, out-dated, repressive stereotypes and opinions: the difference is how many of those repulsive perspectives get aired (and applauded!) by paid speakers at national conventions.
#6: Spot on torrentprime. While GP to his credit calls out the vile Coulter, he falsely claims that it was leftist bloggers who cheered the attempt on Cheney’s life, when in fact it was some anonymous commenters who might even have been wingnuts trying to make leftists look bad.
As for Coulter, the smattering of tsk-tsks we hear from a few conservatives will soon be forgotten. From past experience, there is nothing she can do or say that would result in her being declared personna non grata within conservative power circles. Nothing.
Shorter gay patriot : Coulter should be criticized for her anti-gay statements. But so should people who wanted Dick Cheney to be assassinated. And people who rob banks. And people who steal old ladys’ purses. So what’s your point gay patriot?
Predictably, HRC has come out with a press release calling on all GOP Presidential Candidates to Condemn this statement:
http://lloydletta.blogspot.com/2007/03/hrc-does-democratic-party-dirty-work.html
I enjoy reading Coulter’s comments and am by no means her official gay apologist, but it makes me wonder:
When Sen. Robert Byrd (D-KKK) used the word “nigger” on Fox News Sunday – not once, but twice – why did then-NAACP president Kweisi Mfume not condemn him, but SYMPATHIZE with him? As in, “oh, he’s so old he probably didn’t know what he was saying/we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.”
When a former NBA player said he hated gay people and called himself a “homophobe,” where was the outrage? Was it because he was black and presumably a Democrat? His statements were worse than John Rocker’s – but he got a pass from not only his community but from ours as well.
That being said – until the NAACP distances themselves from racist, bigoted Democrats, I will neither condemn Coulter for what she said in the spirit of “humor.” Granted, as a joke it was weak, but I think her purpose in doing something that would be headline-grabbing would be to see how many Dems would try to cast the beam out of their own eyes.
And frankly, I’ve considered John Edwards a pouf ever since he exemplified the term “metrosexual.”
Regards,
Peter H.
I believe that this is the second time recently she has uttered this word, using it recently on MSNBC to describe someone. I do not understand why CPAC or any other conservative or Republican organization would invite Coulter to speak. She is a ignorant blowhard who chooses inflamatory words or arguments simply to get attention. She reminds me of an old Navy saying about craving attention–even negative attention: “a letter of reprimand is better than no mail at all”. 2008 is going to be an uphill battle for Republicans. The last thing the party needs is to allow important issues to be overwhelmed by divisive cretins like Coulter. She may think that she is being hounded for not being sufficiently PC. Actually, she should be hounded for not being sufficiently intelligent, mature and reasonable enough to understand the ground rules of appropriate discourse.
“I’d like to think that this blog, in its attempts to dialogue with the conservative community”
When did it start doing this? It is usually just attacks on GayBorgLeftSockPuppetLibMoonbats and airports/airlines, if not gay men who don’t have spiritual sex, that you are usually talking at or to… I would love to see this blog take on conservatives when it comes to the question of homosexuality–and try doing it without using liberal gays as a punching bag: “Look hetero conservatives, we can beat up on liberal gays, too!!”
Juvenile sewer dwellers exist irrespective of political persuasion. The difference between the ones on the conservative vs liberal side, is that the conservative ones are adored by their base, are supported to the tune of millions of dollars in book sales and audience-driven ads, whereas the liberal ones are obscure losers who no one would ever hear of if it werent for wingnuts who relentlessly try to ferret them out – so as to make the equivalency charges that GP tries to sell here.
Ya got that? The real scandal is not Ann Coulter – it is the fact that she is LOVED by the conservative base. Hell, she was even introduced by a leading presidential candidate last night. And after her talk there was a line a mile long to get her to sign books.
One can only conclude that she is the voice of the GOP base, or the voice that they wish they had themselves.
it was leftist bloggers who cheered the attempt on Cheney’s life, when in fact it was some anonymous commenters who might even have been wingnuts trying to make leftists look bad.
I *might* be inclined to buy that were it not for books about how to assassinate Bush, a movie depicting exactly that and the rabid hate liberals have for Bush, Cheney and just about anybody else who doesn’t bow to the Neo-Socialist alter.
As for what Coulter said, I can’t say I really care.
“I’d like to think that this blog, in its attempts to dialogue with the conservative community, has helped in the moderation of the views of gays in America as is reflected in Capt. Ed’s comments.”
I think it has.
She just dripped 99 points in my book
What an ass.
While I believe in the right for every American to say what they want, Ann continues to give the world the impression that we are all a bunch of homophobic rednecks. I’d like the whole conservative movement to tell her for once “stay off our side”.
THis needs to be Coulters last invitation to CPAC. We have enough mountains to climb without her rolling boulders down on us.
I prefer Ann Coulter to the PC Republicans who try to pretend they’re gay-friendly (or, on the other hand, the democrats who try to pretend that they are gay friendly).
Honestly is always the best policy.
–Chet
#6 and #7 – Nice try. But your Democrat Party chairman himself said that he believes President Bush knew in advance the 9/11 attacks were going to happen.
Jimmy Carter routinely spews anti-American and anti-Isreal rhetoric.
And Michael Moore sat next to Carter and was prominently featured at the DNC 2004.
Ann Coulter may be embraced by the right fringe, but your lunatics are RUNNING your party.
For those of you who think that “front-line” liberals are not distancing themselves from Huffington kooks, what about Bill Maher saying that he was sorry the assassination attempt on Cheney failed?
Ah, the compassionate left at work.
Liberals are such hypocrites. On the one hand they are outraged by the comments of Ann Coulter ( I am not defending Ann), and on the other there is a deafening silence when one of their own says that VP Cheney should be dead.
Regards,
Peter H.
After Coulter “divorced” herself from National Review, she’s been sliding fast.
She’s become our own Michael Moore: occasionally brilliant but, more and more, just full of crap.
Bruce, this was NOT bloggers “cheering the attempted assassination of the Vice President of the United States?” It was commenters. You are being intellectually dishonest when you try to compare these too.
I think the real story here is many conservative bloggers are disgusted with Coulter. The question is why does she get invited to mainstream conservative venues like CPAC. She should not be.
The Edwards campaign is trying to use this to raise “Coulter Cash”.
I seem to recall the defense of Al Franken’s Hasty Pudding comment was long the lines of “That’s what comedians do…” Ann is no comedian (quite an understatement), but Al injects himself into politics at every turn. It’s hard not to compare the two.
I just watched the video of it. There was substantial laughter and applause in the room. The conservative movement has clearly declared war on gay people. It is their number one priority. You can rationalize it all you want, but its disgusting and dangerous. Gay influence in the Republican Party is now offically zero%.
“Liberals are such hypocrites. On the one hand they are outraged by the comments of Ann Coulter ( I am not defending Ann), and on the other there is a deafening silence when one of their own says that VP Cheney should be dead.”
I figure Howard Dean will have the right to demand an apology only after he apologizes for saying that he hates Republicans.
Then, that’s okay. I guess. Or something like that.
The biggest joke of the week for me was the revelation that the only green Al Gore cares about resides in his wallet.
What’s better, the Crawford ranch belonging to the arch-enemy of all things green, G W Bush, is a model of modern eco-friendly technology. Note, this has been known since 2001, so Gore had six years to catch up and modernize but chose not to.
But, even with this dust up, I still think A G will GO – “AL” – THE – WAY in 2008.
No question that Ann has gone off the deep end. This comment may be the end to whatever legitimacy she had left.
While I agree that the conservative movement will have to get real in its views on homosexuality, make no mistake that the lefties are hypocrites. If you go to one of their meetings, and the Gay members have the podium, the rest of the crowd sighs and rolls their eyes. I have witnesses this.
great post–thanks…don’t know if you’ve seen this video of Ann Coulter, but it’s pretty classic:
http://minor-ripper.blogspot.com/2006/12/ann-coulter-gets-owned.html
You mean like Cynthia McKinney, Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson, Sheila J. Lee etc.?
“Liberal ones” are anything BUT obscure, in fact many try to get them to run for office if they don’t hold it already. I call shenanigans.
As for what Coulter said, frankly I don’t care.
Ooops. I thought #11 was deleted.
“I have no doubt that Ann’s remarks will make all of the national news networks and will be endlessly repeated.”
I haven’t been watching TV, but I know the NYTimes and WashPo don’t even mention the comment in their stories about the conference. The only Web site I’ve seen to run it as a linked headline is Foxnews.com.
The real scandal is not Ann Coulter – it is the fact that she is LOVED by the conservative base.
Spot on.
Correct. It was just HuffPo bloggers that were giddy at the prospect of calculating a death pool for American combat soldiers in Iraq.
Great folks over there at HuffPo.
Ian, I can’t speak for other conservatives, but to this one Coulter is personna non grata. I used to like her, but about a year ago, and I don’t know what it was? I just got this awful disgusted feeling about her. This confirms it.
Bruce, no issues what so ever with homosexuality. I just don’t watch the gay pride parades. I would rather hang outwith my gay brother in law, and his partner and watch hockey.

According to your link, he never said any such thing.

More from Captain Ed:
Giuliani, McCain and Romney have all publicly denounced Coulter’s remark – http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/009317.php
Exactly who was it that “cheered the attempted assassination…?” Was it any of the more mainstream left blogs, any of the more “out there” left blogs, or was it (as I suppose) some kooks leaving random messages on left blogs? I’ve not read any posts where a left blogger has “cheered” the incident. I’m guessing the credibility of the individuals of which you speak are about as suspect as the commentors here, myself included thank you very much. An official position of a respectable blogger, left or right, carries far greater weight than a drive-by random hateful message. I’m sure any comments against the Vice President at this bombing are an inverse equivalent of messages about Senator Tim Johnson after his brain hemorrage.
The left blogs I survey seemed to ignore the Cheney incident mostly. I would have liked to have seen more concern for the welfare of a top government official, more remorse for those that died as a result of the bombing, but mostly I would have liked to see some sort of remorse or concern officially communicated from the office of the Vice President. From that end, it was business as usual, Tony Snow directed to send a “tough message” to the terrorists, our security forces doing their job, his official spokeperson communicating that he’s fine and proceeding with his scheduled agenda. I suspect that if any left bloggers were to “cheer” the Bagram incident, they’d be hearing from critics on both the left and right. Some things, in spite of politics, can be recognized by any respectable person as just simply being wrong.
Coulter’s mouth-off was such an incident and I’m frankly not surprised at the Right’s condemnation of her words. I only wish that it didn’t take such a public display of incendiary speech to make the Right take notice of the bigotry within their ranks. For example, it wasn’t due to Conservatives that Michael Savage was recently taken to task for recent comments about lesbians to lose his “not quite dry ink” contract with CAA was it?
Beyond public denunciation, what exactly do you think Conservatives will do to penalize and pressure Ann Coulter to both make her aware of the wrongness of her speech and to ensure it doesn’t happen again?
Frankly all you so-called ‘conservatives’ have lost me with continuing to push this so-called human being by the name of Ann Coul-tard. Frankly you all got what you deserved. You were all eager to stand behind such an intolerant bigot in the first place, and so you have your hands burnt. To quote the Grey Wolves, “You don’t have to say sorry!”
Not to mention it is obvious that Kfir Alfia/Protest Warrior is just furthering the Coulter agenda. Is that not McCarthyism in action? Then what is it? Even if I ever saw that crummy film of Alfia’s, Enter Zion, it would not make me view Israel with any less contempt. You neo-cons are all the same! And I may not be voting Democrat either since they are sucking up to the same Zionist monster that insults them.
Really, you con-tards should clean-it-up by shutting out Coulter and that David Horowitz who is responsible for her obscenely rapid rise. And dump Michele Malkin while your at it…
S–t! So I made a typo? Think I care, con-tards?
#44
I didn’t see it until you mentioned it. What gets me is how you have the audacity to call Coulter an “intolerant bigot” and then turn arround and assail “dirty Jews”.
My rule of thumb: When liberals start pointing fingers, it’s wise to look in the opposite direction.
Ignorant bigot.
Yawn!
As I said you’re all the same….
I’m sure that really convinces me to go neo-con…
I think people like you encourage the anti-Semitism you accuse ‘liberals’ of…
I never mentioned “Dirty Jews”.
[Comment deleted due to violation of community standards. Anti-Semitic statements are not tolerated here.]
So go on with your sneery finger trick!
I am a conservative independent. In my view any gay person who supports the Republican party has serious issues. There is an undercurrent of serious homophobia that is at the core of that party. That is why I am conservative on many issues but wouold simply never vote for a Republican. They are the party of homophobia.
[GP Ed. Note: Pardon me if I guffaw at someone with a “harvard.edu” email address calling himself a “conservative independent.” There’s plenty of homophobia to go around in the Democrat Party as well, my friend. And Democrats are responsible for DOMA and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell — so they codify their homophobia into laws…. and “conservative independents” like you give them a pass. *rolling eyes*]
umm….
Jews?
….
What???
First off, I’d like to day that I am not a Gay person, but I come here often to read this blog because i find it to be one of the good ones on the net and i enjoy reading your stuff. I am a Right Winger and I do agree with most of you people here, But I’m writing this post to say that I want to join the chorus of conservatives disgusted by Ann Coulter’s use of the word faggot. I find that inexcusable and i am totally ashamed of her. She has put herseld in Michael Moores class. And that’s not a great place to be.
I believe many people are missing the point of Ann’s shocking use of a school yard insult but the fact that in our PC obsessed culture people have to get psychological counsel for using it.
Author, you hypocrite.
You slam the lack of coverage of Bill Maher’s comments from a comedy show, and then you ignore the vast positivity in right-wing blogger response to ann coulter’s comments?
Hey, republichick, what if Ann had used the word ‘nigger’ out loud at the CPAC thing?
[Um, the point of the post is that conservative bloggers are, by and large, criticizing Ms. Coulter. –Ed.]
the WORST part of this whole affair is that Coulter’s comment drew APPLAUSE – what does THAT say something about conservative actiivists? (That they’re HATEFUL, BIGOTED and ILL-BEHAVED? Noi kidding.) Don’t like it? Deal with it! The woman is beneath contempt.
#40: Pamela, I’m glad you feel the way you do about Coulter. I hope other conservatives will follow suit. Let’s see how many conservative/GOP groups cease having her as a headliner to their conferences, fundraisers and the like.
Uh, I did link the correct story, libtards. Bill Maher has unashamedly thrown his lot in with the moonbats who wanted Cheney assassinated. And unfortunately, this has not gotten as much coverage as the Coulter non-story.
Regards,
Peter H.
I’m just an old fogey so I don’t understand most stuff on this blog. However, could someone please explain what Ann Coulter meant when she compared John Edwards to a “faggot”? That word used to mean a bundle of sticks; times have changed and it means something else. Does she think Edwards is gay? Or is she just mean? A female dog is stilled called a bitch.
#62:
Well then, you’ve clearly “embellished” what it actually said.
Damn I thought we were learning from the Liberal Democrats and outing a Democrat Presidential candidate. Then I found out Coulter was just shooting her mouth off.
ian please list for us all the leftists hate mongers banished by the Democrat Liberal Party.
#59
Apples and oranges, GOB Edwards is not homosexual hence the joke.
# 65 You are comparing apples and oranges GOB, Edwards is not gay and besides as far as the N word Ted Rall already used that on a cartoon depicting Condolezza Rice as Pre Bush House N*. Don’t reacall any apologies or trips to the rehab center.
sorry I meant comment # 59
Or the leftist blogger (Steve Gilliard) who portrayed Michael Steele as Sambo, or for Jane Hamsher, the campaign blogger for the Ned Lamont campaign, who portrayed Joe Lieberman in blackface, or for Al Franken, who calls people “butt boys” in a derogatory fashion, or the Moveon.org ads depicting Bush as Hitler, or……
I never mentioned “Dirty Jews”.
Ahh but you did. You either, at best, hid it for deniability or, at worst, are totally ignorant of what you said.
You disgusting bigot.
Hey, republichick, what if Ann had used the word ‘nigger’ out loud at the CPAC thing?
That, for obvious reasons, would have been more idiotic than faggot. But the point still remains that there are WAY too many people on both sides, including here, that are “offended” when they really aren’t.
For example: If I called you an A-hole, would you REALLY care? How about Yo’ momma?
And WHOSE problem is it if you did care?
(Stomps foot)
I’M more offended than you guys. You’re not nearly as offended as I am, so there. PFFFFFFTTT!
Fall over yourselves to see who can apologize first.
It’s worth noting that every single conservative blog that condemned Coulter had an angry comments section, in which conservatives defend Coulter and her choice of word.
[Comment deleted for violating community terms of conduct.]
I see the lower-case-libtards are still having a collective hissy-fit over what they think is my so-called “ignorance” and “error” (and I’m putting that politely).
Here for your edification (that’s “viewing” for you short-yellow-bus types which make up the Dhimmicrat party) is the statement made by Bill Maher who stated VERBATIM that “I’m just saying that if he [Cheney] did die, other people, more people, would live. That’s a fact.
Sounds a lot like cheering on the death of a sitting VP to me.
Do you guys kiss your mothers with those filthy mouths? Geez…
Now go sit in the corner and don’t bother us grownups until you’ve learned to behave.
Regards,
Peter H.
TGC, don’t bother. If you called a Dhimmicrat an A-hole, they’d take it as a compliment.
Regards,
Peter H.

Thank you for making it crystal clear that you’re embellishing the story.

I think AC was always in the Michael Moore class. It’s just that we conservatives were too busy reveling in our political victories to notice. Shame on us.
Why bother worrying about Ann Coulter? The womam has no credibility. She lost that a long time ago. When will the National Center for Public Policy Research stop asking this immature woman who resorts to name calling like a typical middle school girl slandering her best friend’s opponent. John Edwards should file a defamation of character!
First off to Sonicfrog, Wow that was like reading the dictionary. Long and dry. Desert dry. I am not disgusted. I would be if she had called a gay man a faggot. But since she did not it kinda takes the sting out of it for me. I agree the joke was not funny. In fact it was down right stupid. We all know that she isnt a supporter of gays so im not shocked she would use that word in the context of a lame joke. If i called a black a cracker who would think me racist? it’s ok i’ll wait…..Only those who don’t like me or my beliefs would. Since John Edwards is not gay i dont care that she in a round about way sort of called him a Faggot. I do care that media headlines make it sound like she said somthing to the effect of “That John Edwards is a Faggot” or somthing like that. If the rest of you want to be upset about it then fine. I will hold my anger for the gay person who is called a Faggot. This is giving that word waaay more power than it deserves. I refuse to ignore also the fact that many people use that word without being homophobes, like say 80% of my peeps who are themselves gay. Which i always find very funny since they all or most of them would have a major problem if somone called them that and that someone was not also gay. Anyway liberty and love to all…Even Ann who i ussually get a kick out of listening to.
I believe in freedom of speech and Coulter’s right to show who she is and what the far right is, by what she says. However, at the same time people like Ann Coulter, and any other professional mouths like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, who make their livings speaking for the far right of the GOP, by name calling and promoting hatred between Americans should be officially labelled, “Hatemonger”. And that label should follow their names everytime it they are seen in print, ie. Ann Coulter, Hatemonger. Period.
#79 – If I embellished it to your thinking, then Barney Frank and I must be on the same wavelength. Because he said in the same interview that Maher’s statement came across the same way TO HIM AS WELL.
Checkmate.

#60:
From all accounts I’ve read (via email or blogs), it was the College Republican kiddies who were applauding, not the real activists. That has nothing to do with their being conservative; it’s because they’re stupid kids. These are the same kiddies who spent their time at CPAC screaming at the top of their lungs for their favored candidates, annoying the adults in attendance. Others have said that it was MOSTLY the kids in the audience, while “the adults” were content to watch it on TV. And see, because I’m a semi-curmudgeonly 40 year-old who gets her royal feathers ruffled about “kids these days” (teens and early 20-somethings), I’m not the least bit surprised they’d think Coulter is cool for being an insulting bitch. (YMMV.) Hell, they probably SAY “faggot” as a regular word in their vocabulary (also “fudgepacker,” etc.). Damn stupid kids. That’s the kind of audience suited for Coulter’s brand of crap. There once was a time when I enjoyed what she wrote, but she jumped the shark a long time ago.
I think I need to go watch Matlock or something now. Bah.
if you’re going to delete people’s comments, you should at least show some consistency and delete all comments that violate the standards. Calling people “libtards” would do it, so how come Peter H’s comments still stand?
Just another example of conservative hypocrisy. This forum is full of it. Pathetic.
Bush is a criminal and needs to be charged and tried.
#20. “Fringe”? The denials run pretty deep here.

And that label should follow their names everytime it they are seen in print, ie. Ann Coulter, Hatemonger. Period.
I noticed that you didn’t offer examples of how Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity etc. are “hatemongers”. Perhaps you can’t.
Oh sure it’s “hip” to say so, otherwise you don’t know why. Sounds cool though. Of course WE ALL KNOW that “right-wingers” are all racist, sexist, bigot homophobes so why bother with the details?
First off to Sonicfrog, Wow that was like reading the dictionary. Long and dry. Desert dry.
Wow! That may be the first time anyone have ever compared anything I wrote to something you would see in a dictionary. Thanks??????? 🙂 But I do live in an semi-arid clime, so maybe that has affected my writing style.
Oh get a clue. She was having fun at Edwards expense. However I can see why you would be insulted by being indirectly compared to Edwards by her comment. Her comment runs in the vein of “John Edwards is just too Gay” ( an this he really is ! ) …or shortened John Edwards is a faggot. Stuart and Maher joke freely but democrats-have no monopoly on humor. So do us a favor and lighten up. We don’t dislike you or gays. We dislike the so gay John Edwards
Ann Coulter didn’t call Edwards a faggot. She said that had she called him a faggot , the chorus would come out from the heavens to send her to political reeducation rehab. (Was she wrong?)
She conflated two points in one comment.
The points:
– Political Correctness in this country has gotton so bad that people go into “rehab” for using impolite labels
– John Edwards is a sissy wussy trial lawyer
So to reflexively say she was wrong for pronouncing the word faggot without any consideration for what she was trying to express only proves her point about rehab.
It’s obvious Edwards isn’t gay…. Coulter said she knows he isn’t. She has said she wasnt using the homosexual slur connation.. only a by-design school yard name-calling him as a sissy.
I wish that people would watch the documentary OUTFOXED: Ruppert Murdoch’s War On Jounalism. (libraries or Blockbuster). Also read about the case of Jane Akre and Steve Wilson vs. Fox. All media, not just Fox hooks people on emotional issues. Don’t give them your money. Yes I have a television set but no longer pay for any T.V. service. Once a year I find a book worth buying. Save your money for your old age….you might need it in this new sophomoric culture that we live in. Use your brains to sift through things on the internet and yes even AM Radio…….you will learn more than you ever could with T.V. Use your local library also…you pay for it!
Charles: I haven’t had cable since 2001. My TV is only for porn.
Anyone who cares about freedom should be concerned that the politically incorrect are being shipped off to reeducation camps-I mean rehab.
While I don’t like or use the “F” word, I’m glad someone is drawing attention to this. I think you should keep in mind that the media here has a proven tendency to bait us into hating and condemning coulter rather than debating her.
