Anyone who cares about freedom should be concerned that the politically incorrect are being shipped off to reeducation camps-I mean rehab.

While I don’t like or use the “F” word, I’m glad someone is drawing attention to this. I think you should keep in mind that the media here has a proven tendency to bait us into hating and condemning coulter rather than debating her.

I wish that people would watch the documentary OUTFOXED: Ruppert Murdoch’s War On Jounalism. (libraries or Blockbuster). Also read about the case of Jane Akre and Steve Wilson vs. Fox. All media, not just Fox hooks people on emotional issues. Don’t give them your money. Yes I have a television set but no longer pay for any T.V. service. Once a year I find a book worth buying. Save your money for your old age….you might need it in this new sophomoric culture that we live in. Use your brains to sift through things on the internet and yes even AM Radio…….you will learn more than you ever could with T.V. Use your local library also…you pay for it!

Ann Coulter didn�t call Edwards a faggot. She said that had she called him a faggot , the chorus would come out from the heavens to send her to political reeducation rehab. (Was she wrong?)

She conflated two points in one comment.

The points:

- Political Correctness in this country has gotton so bad that people go into �rehab� for using impolite labels

- John Edwards is a sissy wussy trial lawyer

So to reflexively say she was wrong for pronouncing the word faggot without any consideration for what she was trying to express only proves her point about rehab.

It�s obvious Edwards isn�t gay�. Coulter said she knows he isn�t. She has said she wasnt using the homosexual slur connation.. only a by-design school yard name-calling him as a sissy.

Oh get a clue. She was having fun at Edwards expense. However I can see why you would be insulted by being indirectly compared to Edwards by her comment. Her comment runs in the vein of “John Edwards is just too Gay” ( an this he really is ! ) …or shortened John Edwards is a faggot. Stuart and Maher joke freely but democrats-have no monopoly on humor. I noticed that you didn’t offer examples of how Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity etc. are “hatemongers”. Perhaps you can’t.

the WORST part of this whole affair is that Coulter�s comment drew APPLAUSE - what does THAT say something about conservative actiivists? (That they�re HATEFUL, BIGOTED and ILL-BEHAVED? Noi kidding.)

From all accounts I’ve read (via email or blogs), it was the College Republican kiddies who were applauding, not the real activists. That has nothing to do with their being conservative; it’s because they’re stupid kids. These are the same kiddies who spent their time at CPAC screaming at the top of their lungs for their favored candidates, annoying the adults in attendance. Others have said that it was MOSTLY the kids in the audience, while “the adults” were content to watch it on TV. And see, because I’m a semi-curmudgeonly 40 year-old who gets her royal feathers ruffled about “kids these days” (teens and early 20-somethings), I’m not the least bit surprised they’d think Coulter is cool for being an insulting bitch. (YMMV.) Hell, they probably SAY “faggot” as a regular word in their vocabulary (also “fudgepacker,” etc.). Damn stupid kids. That’s the kind of audience suited for Coulter’s brand of crap. There once was a time when I enjoyed what she wrote, but she jumped the shark a long time ago.

I think I need to go watch Matlock or something now. Bah.

I believe in freedom of speech and Coulter’s right to show who she is and what the far right is, by what she says. However, at the same time people like Ann Coulter, and any other professional mouths like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, who make their livings speaking for the far right of the GOP, by name calling and promoting hatred between Americans should be officially labelled, “Hatemonger”. And that label should follow their names everytime it they are seen in print, ie. Ann Coulter, Hatemonger. Period.

But since she did not it kinda takes the sting out of it for me. I agree the joke was not funny. In fact it was down right stupid. We all know that she isnt a supporter of gays so im not shocked she would use that word in the context of a lame joke. If i called a black a cracker who would think me racist? it’s ok i’ll wait…..Only those who don’t like me or my beliefs would. Since John Edwards is not gay i dont care that she in a round about way sort of called him a Faggot. I do care that media headlines make it sound like she said somthing to the effect of “That John Edwards is a Faggot” or somthing like that. If the rest of you want to be upset about it then fine. I will hold my anger for the gay person who is called a Faggot. This is giving that word waaay more power than it deserves. I refuse to ignore also the fact that many people use that word without being homophobes, like say 80% of my peeps who are themselves gay. Which i always find very funny since they all or most of them would have a major problem if somone called them that and that someone was not also gay.
