Now… Support The Troops

You’ve just read (above) some really good news from Iraq and the fact of the matter is that truly brave Americans are all over the world fighting back Islamic extremism.

If you really support the troops, then join me in donating money to the USO.

I wrote my check this week.

  1. Bruce, thank you for posting that link and supporting the USO.

As a veteran (a lefty vet? Say it isn’t so! ;-) ) who was a direct beneficiary of the USO’s generosity, I can not emphasize enough what a wonderful organization they are. We often think of the USO exclusively in terms of the big-name shows in far away places, but the reality is much closer to home.

The USO is in every major airport in the United States, and many smaller ones, and those “outposts” (if you will pardon the term) are staffed by volunteers. They provide hot coffee and a place to relax for a bit for soldiers heading to or from home.

I second Bruce’s request that folks please go and give; even a small amount makes a difference.

    Thank you,
    Mike

  3. File under: Stop wasting my tax dollars with this ridiculous war all in the name of Bush’s pursuit for oil. Most Americans do not support this war and quite frankly, although I support the troops, they signed up for this shit. They made their bed, now lie in it!!

  4. You still write checks?

  5. #3 – I guess this “pursuit of oil” war is the reason why gas prices are over $2.50 here in Texas.

    Try again.

  6. #3: No one who claims to support the troops ever says something like “…they signed up for this shit. They made their bed, now lie in it!!”. To attempt to argue otherwise is grossly irresponsible and quite frankly, ignorant. Such a statement smacks of superiority, not to mention total disrespect for those men and women doing a tough job and being underpaid for it.

It’s no wonder those of us on the left who attempt to have a legitimate dialogue with our ideological opponents are failing miserably.

Bruce / Dan, forgive me for this, and ban if me if necessary, but #3, go back under the damn rock you crawled out from under.

  8. Mike, mega-dittoes to that statement and I second Cal’s emotion.

With so-called “troop supporters” like #3, who needs terrorists?

  10. #9 – No problem, Mike ole boy. We all have those days from time to time. It’s called “libtroll madness.”

  11. Mike, you say you’re a lib yourself, which I would take to mean a Left-liberal… but honestly, I haven’t seen a whole lot of indicators there.

For starters: When it comes to military service, you talk sense. Sure you’re not a closet conservative… or (my gig) libertarian? ;-)

  12. What can I say, Calarato? I do have a bit of a libertarian streak. I’m a conflicted soul. :-P
