Pretty stark. But, I think, essentially true (or a good point).

See what Ayaan Hirsi Ali says about Islam and the Jihad (with Bill Maher agreeing) and the mistake of patronizing them:

I’ve always asked if the libs would prefer our soldiers die at home with their families.

Easy three-step way to eliminate terrorists:
1. Tell state-sponsored terrorist nations that we will nuke them in 72 hours and to evacuate all women and children (similar to what we did with Hiroshima in 1945).
2. After 72 hours, nuke them until they glow.
3. If there are any remaining terrorists, shoot them in the dark.
Problem solved.

My solution is to attach nukes to UAVs and hover them over Mecca and Medina 24/7. Tell them the first attack on us , lets loose the Medina bomb. THe 2nd attack lets loose the Mecca bombs. Let the Muslims restrain their wackos.

Good one, Vince. I like that one. Beats the hell out of carpet bombing – then we’d be obligated to rebuild them the way we did with Germany and Japan.

#6 – #7 – It wouldn’t stop them.
First, after 40 years of a leftist Peace movement in America, no one would believe we meant to follow through – until after we actually followed through. So right there, the strategy would (1) guarantee a terrorist attack in order to “test” our will, followed in the “best” case by (2) the threatened nuclear war.
Second, as Ayatollah Khomeini famously said, “Let this land [Iran] burn.” The terrorists / Islamists wouldn’t care if Medina or Mecca were nuked. They’d say: God’s plan, a bunch of people just went to be with God, blah blah blah. Leading up to that, the “moderates” would probably just stick their heads in the ground and not do anything to stop the terrorists.
No, I hate to say it, but I think the only way to win this is to patiently educate and assist the “moderates” in running their own countries better and more democratically – as we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, in other words – so that fewer people want to be Islamist terrorists in the first place, and so that local police forces will exist (eventually) to hunt and restrain the terrorists for us.
I “hate to say it” because it is a slow, painful strategy and I regret every life lost (American, Muslim or whatever).

Mecca has some eschatological importance to Islam… if the city was vaporized, it would render aspects of the future promises of the religion invalid. Thats not the same thing as giving up Persia. (I am familiar with that quote by Khomeni)
Comment by Vince P — March 21, 2007 @ 1:29 pm - March 21, 2007
But then God would just restore Mecca, when it was needed. (In Islam, God can literally do absolutely anything at any time He wants – and is expected to.)

Inshallah… I suppose. It would be a major demotivator though.

Christ. Conservatives have always sucked when it comes to propaganda. This video parodies itself. No wonder nobody’s taking the president and his supporters seriously anymore.

Dan: like you ever have.

Vince: Yeah, it’s a hoot when people who have hated Bush ever since Gore lost in 2000 talk like something has changed. Almost as much of a hoot as it is when they point out how the world hates America and then talk like something has changed.
Comment by Synova — March 21, 2007 @ 7:40 pm - March 21, 2007
I like when they say
“I’m a life-long conservative, but these Bush tax cuts are just beyond the pale, no wonder he’s Hitler!”
Comment by Vince P — March 21, 2007 @ 8:06 pm - March 21, 2007
Yep, I’ve never supported the president. Doesn’t mean that this video is pathetic. Seriously… Effective propaganda is far more subtle than this POS. When people know they’re being ‘sold’ a specific ideology, they just don’t pay attention.
But hey, if this this the kind of crap y’all want to stand by, I ain’t gonna stop you.

“When people know they’re being ’sold’ a specific ideology, they just don’t pay attention.”
Way to go, Dan – you just nailed the definition of Bush Derangement Syndrom (BDS) that encapsulates you and fellow libtards. Congrats!

Roger Simon asks: What derangement could make us continue, after 4 years, to still refer to the vicious killers in Iraq romantically as “insurgents”?

Its the same derangement that maintains the war we’re in under the name “War on Terror”

I know. Bush’s #1 leadership failure: Not naming our real enemy, or the real ideology / people America is fighting: ISLAMO-NAZIS.

Calarato: Definately.
Major gov’t leadership failure #2… Congress not issuing a declaration of war.
