If B.O. had the exact same experience, the exact same accomplishments, and the exact same positions but was white, would he be treated as anything but a joke?

At this point in President Clinton’s second term, his approval rating was double President Bush’s current approval rating. President Clinton was popular. President Bush… not so much.

Hence, why the 2-1 ratio is not very surprising. Most Republicans like yourself still support the President. Independents and Democrats do not. Each bloc comprises about a third of the country.

That’s why Bush’s approval rating is stuck around 33% and why President Clinton is favored over Bush by a 2-1 margin.

When it comes to opinion of President Bush, it’s the Independents and Democrats VS. the Republicans.

Just given the wide margins, it’s clear that the poll is heavily weighted toward liberals. Example:

on taxes, it was 51 percent to 35 percent for Clinton;

Only a liberal would think that the highest tax rates ever would be a good thing.

and on handling natural disasters, it was 51 percent to 30 percent, also favoring Clinton.

Forgetting, of course, that it took James Lee Witt 3 WEEKS to respond to the destruction of Hurricane Floyd. Which, at that time, was the most destructive storm in history. Nevermind that it took lord BJ 4 DAYS to get around to visiting N. Carolina.

Further, how about the fact that BJ couldn’t have been bothered with the first WTC attack?

That said, it’s great that they got him but I suspect it was some of that police work that you hold in such contempt that enabled us to nail him.

Actually, Rudy himself established the EOM center in the WTC after the first attack on the WTC. Well, one might say anyone could have been dumb enough to put such a facility in a known target but Rudy is not just anyone, he’s running for President based on his vaunted anti-terrorism skills. Which as far as I can see aren’t exactly brilliant. Now NDT believes that Rudy’s skills were in evidence on 9/11 but aside from showing up on TV and looking good, I’m not exactly sure what else was particularly impressive.
