PS - Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Vince, I think HarryR has finally gone over the deep end. Maybe Alzheimer's setting in?

And before you libtards start wetting yourselves in angst at my so-called "smear," just remember that twenty years ago, your ilk was saying the same thing about Reagan. So deal with it.

Reid Compromise Would Pull Troops, Re-Invade Iraq
Scott Ott 5/3/2007 5:24 AM
(2007-05-03) — A day after Congress failed to override a presidential veto of a Democrat-sponsored bill that would tie troop funding to a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed hope that his new compromise legislation might meet with greater success.

The Reid bill calls for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, followed by a waiting period of about 21 months, then a fully-funded re-invasion “under more compelling circumstances,” according to the text of the legislation.

Experts agree that a U.S. pull-out now would open the door for al Qaeda to make Iraq its base for launching global jihad. Sen. Reid said today that eliminating a safe haven for terrorists offers ample justification for invading a country, like the U.S. did to overthrow the Taliban regime in Afghanistan — a war which Democrats still support.

“The problem with the Iraq war,” said Sen. Reid, “is that George Bush ordered the invasion to get revenge on Saddam Hussein and to get Iraqi oil, under the pretense that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. My bill calls for a do-over, but this time we invade for the right reasons, when we have the right person in the White House.”

Citing President Bill Clinton’s bombing of Iraq, Mr. Reid said, “Democrats don’t oppose military action in principle, so long as we have confidence in our commander-in-chief and support his rationale.”

Under the terms of the measure, the re-invasion to destroy al Qaeda’s new Iraqi headquarters and expected network of Iraqi training camps, would start in January 2009, “contingent upon an appropriate outcome of the U.S. presidential election in November 2008.”

#55 Peter, John Kerry reminds me of the old La Rochefoucauld chestnut:

<i>"Magnanimity despises anything in order to gain everything."</i>

and Nietzche:

<i>"The profound man seeks the clarity of truth; the man who wishes to be considered profound only seeks to obscure it."</i>

#53 - And I'm sure you will guffaw when you read that <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,269836,00.html" rel="nofollow">Obama's Irish roots have been traced.</a>

Shades of John Kerry - he wants to be everyone for everybody. Typical Dhimmicrats.

I'm still waiting for the report that shows Shrillary's lineage from Lucretia Borgia and Vlad the Impaler.

#44 It's ironic that I'm the one defending your claimed religion by questioning the allegation that you're a believer. A hypocrite is a liar and you are a hypocrite, obviously. Your spiritual development is your business except when you regularly mention it on a public blog. I have no desire to silence you, especially when pointing out your logical flaws is so easy. I suspect that your church elders would advise you to cease participating in a forum in which the temptation to engage in very un-Mormon-like behavior is simply too great for you. But that's between your conscience and the God that is the figment of your imagination. Certainly no god that I would believe in would advise less. You know I'm right, so now you're claiming a rhetorical prowess in order to deflect an honest critique of your consistency. But what do I know? I, who attempt to participate honestly and with some standards, only aspire to be a rotting piece of meat whereas you, who regularly attack the very religion you use as rhetorical gravitas, aspire to a higher plane of existence.

This is funny

http://www.rightwingnews.com/mt331/2007/05/the_obama_myspace_goof.php

The Obama MySpace Goof

The Obama campaign has managed to turn their MySpace page, which had a staggering 160k+ users (next best was Hillary with 42k) into a screw up big enough to make the Drudge Report. Long story short,

A guy named Joe Anthony started the Obama MySpace page and it was doing so well, Obama's people just made it into their official page. However, eventually it got to the point where it was essentially turning into a 2nd job for the guy and Obama's people were also getting nervous about not controlling the website. Then, because Anthony was dealing with enormous numbers of messages and friend requests, he asked to start getting paid for his work. Obama's team, after thinking about it, decided they would rather offer him a lump sum and completely take it over. They asked him for an estimate and he gave them one that ran somewhere between $39,000 -- $49,000."

I will let Tech President explain what happened from there,

"Whatever the case, at this point it appears the Obama people simply decided that they would get control of the myspace.com/barackobama url by going around Anthony and getting MySpace to lock down his access to it. In their view, Anthony was violating MySpace's terms of service by falsely representing himself as Obama, and thus they didn't have to pay him anything. The worst that would happen, they reasoned, is that they would have to rebuild the candidate's network of friends.

And this is indeed what is happening now. At the request of the Obama campaign, the url myspace.com/barackobama has been taken away from Joe Anthony and put in their hands.

....Was this action fair to Joe Anthony? MySpace itself has come up with a positively Solomonic solution to that question, promising to restore Anthony's network of 160,000 friends as soon as he picks a new url for whatever unofficial Obama fan page he may care to create."

Now, was $40k plus too much for control of the Myspace page? My gut instinct is "yes," it probably was. On the other hand, you can contribute money to a candidate directly through their MySpace page and if they were able to raise $5 per person over the course of the campaign, that's $800k. Moreover, Anthony did put in a lot of time and it was the Obama campaign, not Anthony, who asked him to toss out a lump sum and then tried to screw him over when it was higher than they expected.

Why didn't they just come back with a smaller figure? Moreover, if money was really that big of a concern to them, they could have had Obama pick up the phone and spend 5 minutes negotiating a deal with Anthony himself. I mean the guy was obviously a big fan of Barack who probably never had any idea that he could make any money off of the website in the first place, so if Obama had called, sweet talked him a little bit, and maybe offered to go to dinner with the guy the next time he's in his neck of the woods, he probably could have gotten him to hand the page over for $10,000 to $15,00 and yes, getting the page with all the friends intact and avoiding the bad publicity would have been worth that much.

So, why did they try to take the page out from under Anthony instead of going that route? My best guess? Simply because they thought they could get away with it. They probably thought they would go to MySpace, ask for control of the page, and MySpace would just take Anthony's page from him and hand it over to the campaign, no questions asked. That's not the right way to treat a volunteer who spent a lot of his free time helping out the campaign, to great effect, but it's apparently how Obama works behind the scenes. That makes me think that Hillary may not be the only utterly ruthless candidate in the Democratic Party's top tier this time around.

They probably thought they would go to MySpace, ask for control of the page, and MySpace would just take Anthony’s page from him and hand it over to the campaign, no questions asked. That’s not the right way to treat a volunteer who spent a lot of his free time helping out the campaign, to great effect, but it’s apparently how Obama works behind the scenes. That makes me think that Hillary may not be the only utterly ruthless candidate in the Democratic Party’s top tier this time around.

I never said he was, but that the Democrat party has a certain tolerance for sexual predators like Gerry Studds and Mel Reynolds --- two guys who couldn't get hired as janitors at the local middle school --- that does not exist in the other party is a matter of public record.

And if McSleezey is a pederast, he's in the right party for it. Perhaps, he should move to Massachusetts and run for Gerry Studds old House seat.
