American Hero: Brian Morgenstern

Brian Morgenstern has come forward and despite his modesty, he truly is an American hero.  Brian was one of the two “tipsters” who alerted authorities about a pending terror attack on Fort Dix by Islamic radicals in January 2006.  The members of the terror cell were arrested on May 7, 2007 after a 15-month investigation.

Fort Dix Tipster Steps Into Limelight – Associated Press

An electronics-store clerk credited with providing the tip that broke up an alleged plot to kill soldiers at Fort Dix went public Tuesday, saying he spent a day pondering his suspicions before going to authorities.

Brian Morgenstern said he was alarmed when he watched the video that two men brought him to have transferred to a DVD but also worried about invading the customers’ privacy.

At a news conference, J.P. Weis, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia office, called Morgenstern “that unsung hero … who saw a video and said, ‘You know, somebody needs to know about this.’

“And that’s why we’re here today, thanks to the courage and heroism of that individual.”

But that’s not how Morgenstern sees his action: “I don’t feel like a hero,” he said.

“I feel like I did the right thing, but I think the real heroes are the men and women overseas and the people in our law enforcement who handled the situation.”

The CNN interview with Brian, which aired on Tuesday May 30, can be seen at HotAir.com.

Thank you Brian.  You ARE a hero.

He should receive a Congressional Medal of Freedom… but Congress wouldn’t know a true American hero if it tripped over one.

  1. Note: A bill to protect whistle-blowers like Brian Morgenstern from being sued by organizations like CAIR is being blocked by Democrats in the US Congress.

  2. Meanwhile, Andrew Sullivan continues the process of wetting himself following the discovery of a REAL torture manual by screaming “Bush is a NAZI! Bush is a NAZI!” over and over and over again.

Princess just can’t stand the fact that her interpretation of the Constitution is now being shown to be as a license for terrorists to plot and kill as many Americans as they want while preventing law enforcement from acting. She’s blowing a blood vessel over the Vice President’s alleged “disregard” of the Geneva Conventions while completely ignoring the fact that the al-Qaeda goons who merrily carried out the outlined tortures are invoking the very protections that they themselves REFUSED when it came to applying them to others.

What should be realized is that Andrew Sullivan, the Democrat Party, and CAIR want to throw this guy in jail for preventing the death of US soldiers in the name of “privacy” and “diversity” — all because they hate Bush so much that they cannot, repeat CANNOT, even imagine that anything the Bush administration supports is right.

  4. Just FYI – Brian had a great interview last night on FNC with Hannity & Colmes. I can’t believe CNN would have even given him the time of day.

  5. Peter, we watched that interview in our home. At the end of it, my 10 yr old son said “He did what was right, Dad. Do you think we’d be that courageous?”

Ding, ding, ding. Give that kid a point for asking the correct question every American should ask themselves in light of BMorgenstern’s conduct.

  6. As I watched this fine young American on CNN this morning I had conflicting thoughts.

Brian certainly deserves to be honored and admired. But I worry that his going public paints a target on the back of his head. Let’s pray that there aren’t Islamic fundamentalists gunning for him now that they know who he is.

Meanwhile, Markie, Rep. William Jefferson (D, La) still has his job, Nancy Pelosi still has hers, as well as Harry Reid. Not to mention all the other corrupt liberals. When are they going to resign in disgrace? What’s their exit strategy from Washington?

  11. It’s “ma’am”. As in, “Yes, ma’am, I do know how to use a dictionary”.

(I may be a damn yankee liberal by god, but I’m attached to a pure southerner – I’d better know how to spell that. Of course which part is worse to my SO’s family, “yankee” or “liberal”, probably depends on who you ask. :-) )

So back on topic, I believe there was/is an anonymous tip line for the FBI for potential terrorism activity. I seem to recall being briefed on it at work when I was working as a defense contractor in DC. Maybe it was only for that area. I can imagine it’s dificult wading through the crazies who call, but it’s still something that should stay in place.

    Bravo to Mr. Morgenstern.

  12. I agree with Ashley Hunter on this. Mr. Morgenstern has shown bravery by his eagle eyedness (is that a word?). But I hope he realizes that CAIR & company will want to shake him down, tag him as a “racial profiler”, etc.

    Comment by Jimbo — May 31, 2007 @ 10:41 am - May 31, 2007

  13. Jimbo, I’m not just concerned about the anti-Islamic defamation league types spicing up BMorgenstern’s life in court… I’d be more concerned about some terrorist wanna-be thug fixing his sights on the newest WOT patriot. Everyone knows that al Qaeda watches CNN — or is it staffs CNN? I forget.

    Comment by Michigan-Matt — May 31, 2007 @ 11:18 am - May 31, 2007

  14. #13 – MMatt, not only do they watch CNN, but they also think that Cuban state media is a good source of “information.”

Let’s see – the MSM considers White House memes as “spin” or “propaganda,” but they call Fidel’s mouthpieces in the state-run media as “information.”

    Bias? What bias?

    Sheesh.

  16. By the way, the luncheon meeting of the SFBACNSVGRWC (San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Not-So-Vast Gay Right Wing Conspiracy) went very well today; both ILoveCapitalism and North Dallas Thirty were in attendance. We discussed our fellow operatives over fine food, then adjourned to a local grocery store and drugstore for bananas and gummi bears.

Of course, we extend a warm invitation to any of our fellow..um….youse guys to join us in the future. Bring mints. :)

I do hope you bought the original Haribo brand gummis – they really are the best.

    Comment by Mike — June 1, 2007 @ 10:40 am - June 1, 2007

  20. We really should have a GayPatriot.org convention. It would be nice to put names with faces, and to have an answer to that stupid “YearlyKos” brain trust that thinks it’s the be-all and end-all of internet sites.

Plus, we could have fun parlor games like “pin the gag on the libtard” or “how to infiltrate the HRC without giving yourself away.” (Just kidding.)

Since we’re all over the country and travel may be at a premium, I nominate either Houston or Dallas as the site of the convention. Both cities offer at least two airlines with major hubs.

Not to mention that both cities have GREAT party spots in their respective neighborhoods (Montrose, Deep Ellum etc.). Besides, you will have wonderful tour guides in myself, TGC, ND30 et al.

    How about it? Any thoughts?

    Regards,
    Peter H.

  21. Hmmmm. Remind me to wear a helmet. I imagine I might be the only liberal that comments here who would have the balls to show up to such a gathering, and I’d really rather not be gagged. Well, not outside of my own bedroom….umm wait, did I just say that out loud? Damn inner monologue again….
    :-P

Great idea though. So often we’re this faceless community online, and it would be great to actually get to know people.

  25. I personally swear by Black Forest gummi bears. Less carbs than Haribo and more protein.

ILC was the good one; he bought the bananas.

Location-wise, I vote Galveston….and I will personally volunteer to drive Michigan-Matt, V the K, and ILC from the Houston airport to the island in the same rental car all at once.

And yes, V, there will be pie. Banana, coconut, and chocolate cream pies, just to name a few. :)

  28. Galveston would be fun…we could probably hold the convention at the historic Hotel Galvez. And I’ll volunteer for chauffeur duty as well from Hobby Airport.

Plus, I know some fabulous restaurants and taverns where the locals go. I mean, how many times can you eat at Gaido’s, for heaven’s sake…

  29. And I’ll personally bring the pies (any flavor) from the House of Pies on Kirby Drive.

The local joke is that since the bakery/cafe is so close to the Montrose, it’s called “House of Guys.” Especially at 2 am on weekends. ;-)

    Peter H.

  30. Hey Peter, that’s a GREAT idea to hold a GP convention –hell, we’ll probably get more people there than Log Cabin (Republicans) do at their “convention”.

And NDXXX, thanks for the offer of a lift to the party. Just as long as you promise to help me if VdaK and ILC try to tie me up and toss me in the trunk. I don’t think they’ll be bought off with just gummie bears given the opportunity.

    Have a great weekend, guys!

I’ve thought about that myself a few times, but feared if I mentioned it, I would be the one coordinating.

Sounds cool. There was this one time on the beach at 61st & Seawall at 4 AM…..Ooops! N/m.

A beach house party would be cool, but pricey. Think we could get a loan from LCR?

What? Contracting crabs at Joe’s ain’t good enough for you? :-)

There’s always the Flying Dutchman in Kemah. I haven’t been there in like 15 years. Then you can go out on the Texas City Dyke (I’ve met her!) at night and watch the refineries burn.

    “House of Guys.”

Totally forgot. I always went to Charlie’s or Chapultapec.
