In Iran, the oppression campaign against those deemed “unholy” has been going on for quite some time.
First, they hanged the gays…
And now, according to the NY Times, they are going after women, labor leaders, the press, and educators.
Iran is in the throes of one of its most ferocious crackdowns on dissent in years, with the government focusing on labor leaders, universities, the press, women’s rights advocates, a former nuclear negotiator and Iranian-Americans, three of whom have been in prison for more than six weeks.
Some analysts describe it as a “cultural revolution,” an attempt to roll back the clock to the time of the 1979 revolution, when the newly formed Islamic Republic combined religious zeal and anti-imperialist rhetoric to try to assert itself as a regional leader.
Equally noteworthy is how little has been permitted to be discussed in the Iranian news media. Instead, attention has been strategically focused on Mr. Ahmadinejad’s political enemies, like the former president, Mohammad Khatami, and the controversy over whether he violated Islamic morals by deliberately shaking hands with an unfamiliar woman after he gave a speech in Rome.
Michelle Malkin has much more, including photos like this one of masked policemen with machetes rounding up those dressed in Western-style clothes.
Masked Muslim moral police force a man wearing clothes deemed un-Islamic
to suck on a plastic container Iranians use to wash their bottoms.
Now folks…. where’s the Human Rights Campaign? They should be wailing against the Islamic law crackdown in Iran? I mean they are so quick to jump on any trumped up gay or abortion issue in the USA that crosses the newswire. So just how is it that when women’s rights advocates (I have to assume at least ONE is a lesbian) in Iran are being rounded up…. that the HRC is silent?
Where are the liberal bloggers? Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?
Where are all of the other so-called American “liberals” who were so quick to believe the false stories of the Koran being flushed down a Gitmo toilet? WHERE… ARE… THEY???
In fact, I’m wondering just how long will it take before Michael Moore, Jim McDermott, Nancy Pelosi, Cindy Sheehan and Jesse Jackson show up in Tehran to support President Ahmadinejad and blame the crackdown on President Bush?

These posts might have some more meaning if you posted them because you actually care about the whats going on in Iran, not just using them to attack liberals.
Kevin-
As one of the first American bloggers to report on the gays being hanged in Iran, I don’t need to justify your stupidity by responding to whether I care or not.
Did you call the HRC and ask them if THEY care? Or did you just write another check to them and look the other way because Bush isn’t responsible?
Poor liberals, just don’t get that conservatives do care… if I were a wagering man Bruce, I’d bet that Kevin done the latter.
I know let’s go into Darfur and stop them from killing Christians. That’ll show Iran that we mean business. YES IT WILL!
You are one of the very few bloggers, liberal or conservative to mention this tragedy. Further, just how many politicians, liberal or conservative, democratic or republican, have you heard say anything about this? I agree with you that this is something that should affect us all but there is blame enough to go around the nation. Your compassion shows in your comments, which I, for one appreciate. However, your comments also highlights your predjuice.
Smashing, then how about reporting on these real human rights abuses without making attacks on every liberal you can think of? That part of the post seems pointless. And for the record, I make donations to other causes and not the HRC, thank you very much.

HORSE SHIT!
Who the hell are you to make such an assertion? We’ve heard all the wailing of the douchebags like you and Keogh about how Bush is “suppressing dissent”, how Bush is “consoring” everybody and how Bush is “torturing” everyone. Now when we find REAL suppression of dissent, when we find REAL torture and when we find REAL censorship by your buddies in Iran, Venezuela, Burma etc., you sorry SOBs are silent. You couldn’t care less unless you can blame it on Bush somehow.
You’ll even fabricate lies to tar and feather our soldiers such as Haditha “massacre”, flushing the Koran etc. Essentially, Kevo, you and your ilk are lying sacks of crap and we’re all sick and tired of you. Your sick, twisted fantasies may fly over at Demonic Underwear or MorOn.org, but not here.
Further,
not just using them to attack liberals.
He doesn’t have to. All you have to do is open your hole or stroke your keyboard and you undermine yourself. Pointing out the glaringly obvious elephant in the room is not an “attack”, no matter what you want.
The hanging of gays ANYWHERE is deplorable. What happened over there will be imported over here unless people wake up & realize radical Muslims want to convert every country to follow sharia law. C’mon HRC, speak the hell up!
Don’t expect the HRC to get involved with this; it doesn’t make Bush look bad. Plus, it would clash with their message of “tolerance” (i.e. “Buck Fush” signs at the Pride Parades).
Speaking of which – here in Houston, the PP almost got totally rained out. I guess Mother Nature isn’t a lesbian.

Kevin, I didn’t think it was possible for you, but you reached a new low of idiocy in #1.
What could possibly be sufficient proof for you that GP cares about the human rights crackdown in Iran, if another entry in a series where GP raises his voice about the human rights crackdown in Iran, is not? Should he slit his wrists to satisfy you?
As for his attacks on liberal bloggers / “rights” groups: Kevin, are those attacks not justified? Have liberal bloggers and groups, in fact, been raising their voices about the evil in Iran? Show us how GP’s comments are not justified.
If you can’t, then perhaps you should consider taking your quarrel to your fellow liberals and getting them to raise their voices about the situation in Iran. Rather than mis-directing your vestige of embarrassment or moral discomfort at GP.
Cecil – Your closing sentence in #4 is as incredibly stupid. Michelle Malkin is a conservative blogger. There’s at least one conservative for you, who has been paying close attention to Iran and raising her voice for quite some time now. I happen to know (even if you don’t) there are many others. Interestingly, however, whenever President Bush or Vice President Cheney do so (as they do from time to time), liberals attack them for it.

TGCpartner was there. He said they have a chandelier (sp?) as opposed to the monster disco ball at Westheimer & Montrose. What’s up with that?
#11 – Beats me. I wasn’t on the decorating committee this year.
