Man, this is delicious irony as Algore’s “Live Earth” concert is just days away.
A few questions came to mind when I heard this story yesterday.
- Is this kid dealing drugs???
- Do you need to deal drugs in order to afford driving a Prius?
- If Algore was my father, I’d be on drugs too.
- Can you imagine how much more boring Algore is if you are doing pot and on Xanax, Valium, Vicodin?
- Does Al Gore III listen to explicit lyrics as well as doing drugs?
- Will the media be as critical on Al Gore III and his drug issues as they were on Rush Limbaugh? Or will they be “sensitive” to his problems?
Ah well…. I love irony and karma.
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
I think AlGore III was just doing his part to fight global warming by making people aware of the fact that you can go 100 mph in a Prius.
So, we got him drinking and driving recklessly. Now, all we need to do is get him to kill a woman at the same time and he’ll be ready to run for the senate.
Bruce, of course the MSM will be ¨sensitive¨ to III´s problem. After all, he is the son of a former Democrat, VP. If he were the son of a Republican then he´d be trashed. The reasons they were hard on Rush was because of his popularity, his conservative credentials, and above all he had the honesty and decency to admit publicly that he had a problem. Democrats admit they have a problem only after causing somebody else some pain, such as; Ted Kennedy, and nephew, William Smith.
Now, will the MSM be as vitriolic in their coverage of Algore 3’s THIRD drug-related arrest as they were with the Bush twins’ FIRST alleged underage alcohol experience?
As far as I can tell, only FNC has front-page coverage of Algore 3’s law-breaking escapade. Yahoo News and a few others aren’t even mentioning it – but they are covering Live Earth for Saturday.
Bias? What liberal media bias?
Sheesh.
Regards,
Peter H.
Wait – a Prius will go 100 mph? Who knew?
The media also did a good job at burying the story about Howard Dean’s son breaking and entering/theft/alcohol possession escapade, too.
Bruce, I think one of the reasons the media delighed in Rush Limbaugh’s drug addiction and related behaviors (exchanges in Denny’s parking lots, etc.) is that he’s spent years in the spotlight demanding law-and-order toughness for others caught up in drug addiction and related behaviors.
Al Gore III, as far as I know, is not a public personality and has not used whatever megaphone he has to demand that other people be jailed for the behavior he’s now been caught engaging in. In short, the emphasis on Rush had a lot to do with hypocrisy. Media reports (and blogger reprints) are playing up the humorous elements of this–the Prius, in particular–but yes, I think the media will show a little more “sensitivity”. Not because his dad’s a Democrat, but because the hypocrisy is missing and Al Gore III is not the public figure in their family.
Peter, CNN.com was fronting it last night, complete with mugshot. The story is still displayed prominently in the “Latest News” mainpage box.
#4 – Mike, this is according to the latest NYT polls (and we all know how accurate they are!):
Fifty-seven percent of Toyota Prius owners said they bought the gas-sipping hybrids – which have a design that makes them easy to spot on the road – because “it makes a statement about me.” Only 36 percent cited higher fuel economy as a top reason for buying the cars.

Most environmentalism is a statement of vanity and narcissism, rather than a practical way of looking at the global ecosystem. The whole notion of fighting “global warming” is an act of vanity because it presumes that there is some correct temperature for the Earth to be at. And oddly enough, the mean global temperature of the Earth during the youth of the baby boomers is seen as this right temperature. Isn’t that a strange coincidence?
Leave off the poor kid! Maybe he was being chased by Manbearpig.
I am of two minds here, guys.
One, yes, I had to twit a bit over this story too, especially the part about someone getting a Prius up to 100 mph.
But at some point, we have to be aware of being gratuitously mean, and I think this post crosses it.
Al Gore III is 24 years old and quite evidently has a problem. I like irony and karma as much as the next person, but let’s face it; if we thought it was in bad taste to make all sorts of remarks about GW and Laura Bush when their kids got into trouble, we probably shouldn’t practice the same.
NDT, I don’t see anybody in the comments hammering on AGIII. I see people mostly commenting on the double-standard that entitles liberals and their children a free pass on things right-wingers get pilloried for, and I see people making fun of the environmentalist cult of AGII. I haven’t seen anyone wish AGIII any sort of ill. I haven’t seen anyone wish that he had gotten into an accident and died, for example, the way the left would wish had it been Dick Cheney who was pulled over.
V’s right, ND30. I for one have sympathy aplenty for Algore3 – given the fact that he’s already had two prior encounters with the law for similar charges.
I just want to see if the MSM gives him the same treatment they would give for someone else’s kid if that person were named “Bush” or had a (R) after their name. I will lay 5-1 odds that they won’t.
Regards,
Peter H.
I wish AG3 the very best, maybe he’ll see the error in his ways and become more conservative.
I pray for all liberals to become more conservative and leave their culture of death activities.
I’m not coming down on AG3 much (yet) either. But I would seriously like the question answered of whether he was DEALING drugs. That’s a pretty big broad stash of Rx medicines to have in your car without the prescriptions to back them up.
Algore2 wouldn’t be the first politician out to “save the world” and gratify his own ego – while ignoring the war at home.
But hey, Algore3 is “getting treatment” – that’s all Algore2 and the liberal media need to know. “Getting treatment”, the all-forgiving answer to everything, that excuses everyone and everything. Including bad fathering.
Had to say it, guys; clean conscience required it.
Some hybrids are pretty hot (Honda Accord Hybrid = 253 HP). I suspect the Prius (110 HP) should have little trouble getting to 100.
I kind of feel bad for AG-III but the irony is delicious. According to Rush, AG-III was picked up by his sister driving a 400 HP Maserati.
Dealing? Guess that depends on the quantities.
Dealing is not the first thing that came to mind. I am told when two lefties meet, one of the first questions they ask each other is “What’s your dosage?” But I still can’t imagine why a 24 year old rich kid with unlimited wealth and prospects needs that many medications.
But on the other hand, I don’t see how anybody can embrace ideas like “Global Warming will destroy the Earth and the only answer is to eliminate capitalism” or “The government can provide better health care than the private sector” or “Raising taxes is good for the economy” or “Surrendering to terrorists will make us safer” without being seriously fried on heavy duty psychotropics.
VtK: I’ve taken some fairly potent psychotropics (prescribed!) in my lifetime and I’ve yet to take anything that can cause the disconnect from reality needed to think like a modern-day liberal. Maybe I should increases the dosages and try (or maybe not).
Left-liberalism is a religion. It takes faith to think like a lib… the ability to rationalize ideas that don’t always comport with reality.
In short, the emphasis on Rush had a lot to do with hypocrisy.
Actually, it had more to do with the dishonesty of liberals. The Denny’s parking lot allegation is a case in point. That was an allegation that turned out not to be true, but that didn’t matter to the left. Further, Rush had highly addictive prescription medication and, as many do, got addicted to it.
Further, Rush was criticizing illegal drug use and he was not addicted to an illegal drug.
The funny thing was that there was some liberal judge here in Florida that had the same problem and he was heralded as a hero for going into rehab while Rush was depicted as a junkie.
Ted Kennedy admitted he had a problem?

“Maybe you should put some ice on that” – BJ Clinton
(Bad joke making the rounds)
Q. What do you call Al Gore III’s Prius?
A. A “High-Brid”
As a backtrack to my comment at #13, it looks as though NBC would rather highlight the foibles of GOP kids, and elevating Chelsea to sainthood.
Hand me the barf bag, please.

Peter H.
At least some people benefited from Al Gore’s feckless parenting.

Wow! Algore had better odds than Bush.
al-Goretoo and al-Goretree… America’s new dynamic duo.
It is Tuesday, July 10. Do you know where your covered-up Algore3 story is?
Had Algore had a (R) after his name, the MSM would have been beating this story like an old rug right now. Instead, it’s been swept under said rug.
Of course, Algore has to deal with his Live Earth agit-prop being a total failure as well. Poor dude can’t catch a break.
Regards,
Peter H.
What’s the skinny on Live Earth? I didn’t notice / haven’t paid attention.
#30 – Well, ILC, it appears that nobody else paid attention to Live Earth, either.
After all the endless hyping of this “event,” all it did was to keep NBC’s ratings in the toilet. When Wimbledon pulls more viewers than a GW propaganda piece that Goebbels would have dreamed about, you know that the party’s over.
Regards,
Peter H.
Poor al-Goretoo!
Unfortunately for the rest of us, the political & media elites worldwide now “believe” in Manbearpig, period. It is going to take a lot of work, arguing, and time to correct that one back. Especially because they so badly *want* to believe in it. (Since it supports anti-Americanism and world socialism, their true agenda.)
Greg Gutfield has a brilliant op/ed piece about the “death” of Live Earth here.
Trust me, ILC, the Nielsen numbers speak for themselves. It is ONLY the media/political elitists who find this to be a “relevant” cause.
And while we’re on the subject: Where was all that money going to go?
According to celeb reporter Roger Friedman, Live Earth is not a registered charity in and of itself. Any money they made on Saturday, possibly as much as $6 million, is being collected by a group called the Alliance for Climate Protection – and who are they?
The Alliance is only supposed to stay in business for three years, and use the money to make commercials and disseminate as much information as possible on climate change and global warming. Some of the money will go to preexisting climate groups.
Now it gets interesting. Among the members of the Board of Directors of the Alliance is former Ford and Bush ’41 administration National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft. There is also Teddy Roosevelt IV, a managing director of Lehman Brothers.
Insiders say the big question will be how much of a fee Kevin Wall, the producer of Live Earth, takes from the profits. But that information won’t be known until all the accounting is done and the Alliance files its first tax return as an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Fortunately, the tax return – Form 5500 – is available under the Freedom of Information Act. Just FYI.
Regards,
Peter H.
Wow. The producer takes a cut, Alliance employees take a cut (possibly not the Board I imagine, but the rest of them), other climate change groups take a cut – e.g., for their employees… and the remainder goes to ad agency contracts. What a stellar contribution to humankind’s betterment.
Who knows? Maybe our underpaid, oh-so-deserving “Professor” Ian will get a bit for the Manbearpig indoctrination sessions (sorry, “classes on climate change”) he leads. 😉
