Yesterday morning, the Republican candidates held a debate moderated by George Stephanopolous for “This Week” on ABC News.

There are two priceless moments where Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani show themselves to be Presidential, funny, and real people.  Great video clips below. (h/t – The Corner)

RUDY: (On his mistakes)

ROMNEY: (“Obama went from Jane Fonda to Dr. Strangelove”)

  3. Truly I tire of the Romney one liners that are clearly set up. Do you have any idea what the democrats will do with a flip flopper like Romney if he happens to be nominated? After what the Republican said about Kerry? It will be very ugly.

  5. Pakistan is our ally in the way low fat cookies are health food.

  6. That much is true. (Chase’s comment re: Pakistan) India is our natural ally in the region.

But, if we go totally pro-India and just abandon Musharraf to the Islamists (and Russians and Chinese)… two words for you: nuclear war. Not this year but in 3, 5 or 10 years.

  7. Well-Off Topic:

What is it with lefties and the whole lower-case thing? Seriously – what point do they believe they are making?

It can’t be a statement of self-negation – since, in most contexts, the effect of lower-casing is very slightly to grab attention for themselves.

  8. What a pathetic bunch of bozos are leading in the Republick Party Presidential campaign. Good grief, what does it say about a politician who can’t even garner the support of his own offspring?! Then there’s Mitt the Mackerel, flipping and flopping on the deck of the SS Titanic GOP. Finally, we have the quintessential not to mention breathtaking example of conservative dishonesty: Frederick of Hollywood’s minions and enablers trying to hoodwink the nation into believing that his trophy wife is an attorney.

  10. Yeah, the Republicans look pretty bad… until you look at the alternatives: On the other side, we have a shrill harridan communist whose corruption runs so deep she has an impeached felon as her campaign co-chair and she’s married to another impeached felon; then there’s the guy who wants to have tea with our enemies while invading a nuclear-armed country of 165 million thats one bullet away from an Islamic revolution and who apparently has the IQ of a soapdish; and finally there’s the ambulance-chasing metrosexual with the $400 haircuts who took a $500K a year job at a hedge fund “to study poverty” and who gives speeches on poverty at $55K a pop, and whose “charitable poverty organization” looks like nothing more than a scheme to divert money to himself.

Two out of three of these people voted to give “no questions asked” Amnesty to illegal alien felons and gang-bangers; and all three of them want to institute the same DMV-style health care system whose failure is becoming increasingly obvious in Europe and Canada.

    There are no winners here.

  11. #10:

impeached felon as her campaign co-chair and she’s married to another impeached felon

Wrong, neither are felons. Why do you undercut your arguments by deliberately lying about easily verifiable facts? It’s the same thing with Frederick of Hollywood and his “lawyer” trophy wife not to mention Bush and his demonstrably false yet repeated claim that we invaded Iraq because Saddam wouldn’t let the inspectors back in. This seems to be a common conservative defect. I guess telling whoppers worked for awhile but did you really think it would work forever?

  12. Perjury is a felony. Bill Clinton committed perjury and was impeached.

Accepting bribes, obstructing justice, and committing perjury are also felonies. Alcee Hastings did all three. If he were a Republican, he’d be in prison. But since he’s a Democrat, he gets a place of honor in the Hillary campaign.

I don’t have to lie about Democrats. The truth speaks for itself.

  13. It’s also telling that the left is so desperate to find something negative about Fred Thompson that they’re slamming his wife for being smart and attractive.

    Comment by V the K — August 7, 2007 @ 7:42 am - August 7, 2007

  14. #12: Clinton was acquitted by the Senate. And Hastings was acquitted in a court of law. Do you deny those facts?

    Comment by Ian S — August 7, 2007 @ 4:40 pm - August 7, 2007

  15. In Clinton’s case, his perjury was captured on videotape. His party helped him dodge the consequences, but he was no less guilty. And. inconveniently for you, he was disbarred for his felonious conduct.

In contrast, Alcee Hastings was impeached and convicted for his felonious conduct by 413-3 vote in the house and a 69-26 vote in the senate.

And Alcee Hastings co-conspirator, who was convicted and sent to prison, was pardoned by BJ Clinton… the same way BJ Clinton pardoned the FALN terrorists and his fellow sex predator Mel Reynolds.

You keep spinning, Wonder Woman. But facts are stubborn things.

  16. Gotta wonder which makes the better attack ad. “Fred Thompson: His wife is smart and hot.” Or “Hillary Clinton: Her husband pardoned terrorists and sex predators.”

    Comment by V the K — August 7, 2007 @ 5:00 pm - August 7, 2007

  17. #15: you can keep waving your arms in sheer desperation but neither Clinton nor Hastings are “felons” as you claimed.

    Comment by Ian S — August 7, 2007 @ 9:02 pm - August 7, 2007

  18. Yeah, I guess to the blinkered partisan hack perspective, citing documented facts that are a matter of public record is “waving your arms in desperation.”

Too bad you can’t refute any of it, eh?
