Despite the fact that the Muni Metro underground station, including the BART line, is mere blocks away and bus lines run on either side of City Hall.

Closest I ever came to the BART was the earhquake at Embarcadero(sp?) station at Universal Studios.

Gaaadzoooooks. It was suppose to be about your birthday, Bruce. Give it a helluva kick. Let’s see it’s in October. More anticipation than ketchup, I see.
I enjoyed my 39th so much, I’ve indulged in 26 more of them each year.
One tip: Before you crash the night before; give the warranty a once-over.
Now, I’ve tapered down a bit; didn’t play soccer the last two seasons (wouldn’t have made Chicago games last year and that may have jaded me). But I do spike my coffee with a shot of immaturity every morning.

Oh, please DO!

Including parking at city hall. No employee parking. Or even better just an initiative that all state and local govt employees must ride transit to work. Something that forces them out of their cars. It would be a hit with voters and would probably draw national attention sparking similar backlash, and perhaps they might finally get the message that people are sick of it.

Same in SF, Shawmut; Civic Center (which consists of City Hall, most of the administrative buildings, and the dumping ground for hippies) is lined with parking garages and spots, most “Permit Only” and reserved for city employees.

Mark my words, if Muni continues to be the colossal screwup that it is, there will be a voter initiative to abolish all free personal parking for city employees.

Will (American Elephant), You’ve made quite an observation. In Boston any “T” workers just drive up and leave their cars when they have to service a station or stop, or work at one. Oh, that’s anywhere at all, too. So it’s not unreasonable to pass by the Copley Square, Park Street, Prudential, or Government Center (citing among the more popular and congested areas) and find 5 or 6 cars with “MBTA Emergency Vehicle” on a visor of a non-official (personal vehicle) (That emergency must be one of the longest running in transportation history).
First of all, they can’t be fired. Secondly, they all vote in lock for Teddy, John or Deval “DeVille” (of course they’re sensitive to the crisis of ‘fossiled fools’ and certainly wanted ‘more Gore’ (thinking it was horror movie). 3. Their disability claims are already filed and ‘pending action’. 4. They only parked there so they could take the next car to the methadone clinic. 5. They didn’t pass the swimming test to work at the “Big Dig”.

My solution to “man made global warming” continues to be the same. If every leftist in the world, not just America, would take the necessary steps to go green, the world would be saved in short order. No more gasoline vehicles used, no more washing machines and dryers, no more A/C, ever, no more toilet paper for them, no more newspapers or magazines, no more disposable diapers for leftists moms, etc etc. Think of how quickly the world would be better off if 40%-60% of the population took these steps. Let’s go leftists and liberals and Democrats, pick a date to start. I’ll help you get the word out. Get started, why wait?

I’va always been curious how many of the liberals in my states transportation dept–the ones who are trying to force people out of their cars and onto transit–actually ride trasit themselves. I have a sneaky suspicion its none.

Actually, GP, I think we can do better than that, and in a most disconcerting fashion.

For instance, since moving to California, I have made a vow to commute by car no more than twice a week on average and have kept it very nicely, despite the fact that it takes me twice as long to get to work on mass transit as it does to drive there.

Therefore, on October 15th, I will state publicly that all the leftists like Gore, Crow, and Edwards who are trying to mandate everyone else’s behavior should cut their own emissions — by voluntarily taking mass transit for 60% of their regular travel.

That means no private bus, no private vehicle, and especially no private jet.

Wonder how willing they’ll be to join me in that.
