Courtesy of Hot Air, a video has been posted online showing Jason Mattera of the Young America’s Foundation* confronting Rep. Jack Murtha over past comments he made in light of the recent exonerations of 4 of the 8 Marines (so far) involved in the now infamous engagement in Haditha, Iraq. Remember Murtha? Besides being the fellow with the brilliant strategy of fighting the war in Iraq via Okinawa, he couldn’t run fast enough to every TV camera in town thundering that these Marines had “killed innocent civilians in cold blood“. All this before an investigation into the massacre allegations was even completed. Did the ‘honorable gentleman’ apologize for his crass presumption or retract any of the outrageous comments he made? Nope. Instead he whined about how he had served in Korea and Vietnam and “redeployed” in an elevator. Funny how this self-centered SOB whines in outrage about his service but conveniently forgets that of these Marines he falsely accused.
If Larry Craig was forced to resign for his bathroom antics (rightfully so), surely Murtha’s despicable behavior deserves equal treatment. Of course, this would be expecting some political groupings to have an idea of what integrity and honor are all about.
Comment of the day from a poster at Hot Air:
It looked to me as though Mr. Murtha, under heavy questioning, redeployed to the elevator.

* – You may remember this group from the controversial outing of Tyler Whitney, a member of YAF, and the truly homophobic statements of one of its leaders Kyle Bristow.

UPDATE: Gateway Pundit has a video of someone else asking Murtha about his previous comments, which he angrily dismisses with his line “the trial’s not over yet”. 4 down, 4 to go Jack. Regardless of the outcome of the last 4, what about the 4 men who have been cleared that you slandered?
If ever there was a turd that keeps popping up in the punch bowl, it is John Murtha. But to the democrats Murtha may be pond scum, but he is “our” pond scum. With any luck, he will get off the elevator and head for the john to play intra-stall footsie with a capitol cop who is being punished for upsetting Cynthia McKinney.
Murtha is certainly a turd… a turd freely elected by American citizens. Depressing, isn’t it?
Do the liberals consider him pondscum? I’ve only seen where they circle the wagons around him.
I think it’s interesting that Murtha is so defensive, he felt the need to mention his service at all. Mattera didn’t attack it.
A smoother pol would have put down Mattera’s somewhat accusatory question, “Do you enjoy belittling our troops?”, with a mock-wounded look and a gently-belittling “Of course not”. Instead, Murtha pleads his own Korea service – out of nowhere. One can only imagine the discussion that Murtha has been having – or perhaps, refusing to have? – with that small, still voice inside each of us.

Because you can’t question people who have served unless you’re a liberal. Then you can attack, destroy, besmirch etc. When you’re a liberal, you can destroy people’s lives completely and dismiss it with your morning coffee.
You can’t touch Kerry because he served, but you can smear Bush all day long. Nevermind lord BJ ran away to England and Soviet Russia instead of serving. Just like it doesn’t matter that BJ and Jimmuh pronounce it “nucular”.
If you dare to question liberals, you get tasered.
Wooohooo. What a great way to start my Wednesday! Thanks AGJ! That was better than wasting my time watching Matt & Meredith trying to brainwash me this morning.
True-life video is stranger than MSM fictional stories! 🙂
Oh well. The world will be a better
place next week anyway.
Cockbite.
#4 Slight correction – Mattera asked Murtha – after getting total evasion / stonewalling from him on Haditha – “Do you like besmirching our troops, sir?”
Jeff Gannon asked Murtha the same question earlier this week at the National Press Club. In that instance Murtha also said that the trial was not over after Gannon pressed him about apologizing to the Marines. Gannon hit him again with a question about whether Murtha agreed with Harry Reid that the war was lost. Murtha whined about his own service and said he did not know what Reid had said. Gannon finally hit him with a request to distance himself from Moveon.org. When Gannon held his feet to the fire Murtha finally said “yes” when asked if he was distancing himself from the left-wing, nut-job organization.
Before Gannon could zing him again, Murtha was quickly surrounded by a group of fawners from the press. Murtha obviously was surprised by the hard questions he got from Gannon when he was expecting nice big softballs from his fellow lefties, er… objective journalists at the Press Club.
Via Ace – A Kos leftie is finally intellectually honest enough to admit that you *don’t* support the troops, if you don’t support their mission.
And adds that our brave troops are, “if you believe in God”, going to Hell when they die.
