Democrats Admit To Poor Mental Health
Gallup Poll Results — PRINCETON, NJ — Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. This relationship between party identification and reports of excellent mental health persists even within categories of income, age, gender, church attendance, and education.
*befuddled* I can’t see how this is news?
After all, what else would you expect from a bunch of communist-protecting, socialist-breeding, Islamist-coddling, free speech-destroying, America-hating, angry anarchists who see a conspiracy in everything and try to destroy the lives of Americans that don’t share their angry view of the world?

Give it time. The Krazy Kos Kids will spin this into some sort of, “See, Republicans really are delusional if they think they’re more mentally stable than us…” type of statement. At least that’s my prediction.
And those of us who are gay and conservative, at least within the opinion of the left, are the ones most screwed up.

Good Lord, man, don’t you even read the “rest of the story”, or only the first paragraphs? Of course, Repubs report higher “excellent” ratings than Indies or Dems (though on the 4 point scale of excellent, good, fair, and poor, all 3 groups are at 93-94% on “excellent” and “good” combined — so big whoo). And that difference in the top-box? Read on…the greatest correlation to the higher top-box rating is with INCOME, and yes, Repubs have higher average HHI than Indies, followed by Dems. So you can take all the pleasure you want at the lesser fortune of people with lesser fortune, but all that comfy smirking won’t do you even an iota of good in recapturing the Congress or keeping the WH. As to the diatribe at the end of your post, so much for playing nice here huh?

KY, is this the article you meant?
http://www.gallup.com/poll/102943/Republicans-Report-Much-Better-Mental-Health-Than-Others.aspx
Because if it is, just about EVERY SINGLE thing you claimed is incorrect.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — November 30, 2007 @ 8:44 pm - November 30, 2007
In particular I’ll call out this from the article: It found that Repubs reported better mental health even when income was adjusted for, or even when everyone in the survey sub-group was low-income.
Further, you claim higher-income people tend to be Repubs… that’s not discussed in this article, but let me state briefly it’s a myth… or at least you have to break it down by more factors… higher-income self-employed people may tend to be Repubs… but not higher-income trust fund kids. And more billionaire political contributors (Soros but many others as well) are Democrats.
Comment by ILoveCapitalism — November 30, 2007 @ 8:49 pm - November 30, 2007
Now why would Repubs have better mental health across the board, regardless of income? Here’s my own theory. Despite the literary and media stereotype of the religious person being a nutcase, most studies show that religious people have more peace of mind than the non-religious on average. And which party is more aligned with middle American religious people?

#1: Vince: Savage suing CAIR? Pity they both can’t lose. Savage is a crushing boor – a bully and a jerk. His nicknames for his competition (the drug addict, the leprechaun) bespeak resentment and envy.
Savage was fired from MSNCB in 2003 for referring to a caller as a “sodomite” and that he should “get AIDS and die”. I’d put him on the same one-way boat to Iran that I’d put Fred Phelps on.

#4: So you can take all the pleasure you want at the lesser fortune of people with lesser fortune
KY- what does this mean? Are you suggesting that the “more fortunate” somehow take pleasure in the travails of the “less fortunate”? If so, to what end?
I suspect the survey is pretty accurate. Lots of libs live their lives with an enormous chip on their shoulders and seething with envy. We all go through spells of envy and resentment but it’s corrosive when it becomes a way of life.

I think I’ll just leave off any commentary about namecalling for that would be the better course given my earlier compliments to you, Bruce, about your and those of your colleagues’ efforts with GPblog… but I gotta ask: was your day really THAT bad to do the final paragraph of namecalling… it’s like a litany found in the Scorched Earth Black Mass. Yeow, Bruce. Or was that just some good natured, clean fun ala “pillories-and-stocks-for-the-varmits”.
If it wasn’t kidding, I’d suggest the next time you have THAT bad a day and feel so inclined, wait 5 minutes, find a cat and dropkick it across some fence 20 yards distant… it always cheers me up on a bad day. But then, I think cat people are weird pseudo-fems harboring a deep-seated masculinity dysfunction order and real guys don’t like cats. Thank God you have manly dogs!
Hope the bad day doesn’t follow you through the weekend… cheers and thanks again, Bruce.

So KY blabbers that the difference between Republicans, Democrats, and independents is based on income, and has nothing to do with party affiliation.
Obviously KY lacks a command of English.
One could be quick to assume that these differences are based on the underlying demographic and socioeconomic patterns related to party identification in America today. A recent Gallup report (see “Strong Relationship Between Income and Mental Health” in Related Items) reviewed these mental health data more generally, and found that men, those with higher incomes, those with higher education levels, and whites are more likely than others to report excellent mental health. Some of these patterns describe characteristics of Republicans, of course.
But an analysis of the relationship between party identification and self-reported excellent mental health within various categories of age, gender, church attendance, income, education, and other variables shows that the basic pattern persists regardless of these characteristics. In other words, party identification appears to have an independent effect on mental health even when each of these is controlled for.
And how was this determined?
Gallup also conducted a separate multivariate analysis that looked at the impact of a list of variables — including party identification — on self-reported mental health. This analysis showed that even when the impact of these other variables is controlled for statistically, there is an independent and highly significant impact of being a Republican on mental health.
One wonders how KY is a statistical expert, as he claims, when his ability to read and comprehend language around statistics is so obviously compromised.

To 11: I’m more than aware of Savage’s past. Regardless… we cant allow Islamic front groups like CAIR to shut down free speech in this country. So i may not agree with everything Savage says… i will certainly defend his right to speak out against the Muslims and CAIR can go to hell

This pairs with the recent survey that showed pluralities of Democrats believe that the US Government was involved in the 9-11 attacks. Paranoid delusion is a form of mental illness, and as we’ve seen in the sinestrosphere, a lot of the more prominent lefty bloggers believe that George Bush is tapping their phone calls, and the USA has become a fascist police state. They are, of course, immune to the contradiction that if the USA were a fascist police state, no one would be blogging that it was.
And then there’s the paranoid delusion that Republicans would be happy to see gay folk exterminated, and that camps in the Pacific Northwest have already been prepared for this purpose, but we won’t get into that.
