“Thanks” To US Troops: The TV Ads Banned By NBC
Below are television ads which thank the volunteers in the United States military who have put their lives on the line around the world in the name of America and the gift of freedom and liberty.
NBC has refused to air these ads.
So you can watch them here:
What exactly is NBC afraid of? Are they now rooting for al-Qaeda? Or do they still want America to win the global war against Islamic radicalism? I guess NBC only likes the First Amendment when it applies to Keith Olbermann.
Finally, which Democrats have sent letters to NBC asking them to reconsider?

Doesn’t fit their sick, liberal template. DailyKooks might get offended.

The nominal reason is reason that the paying sponsor, http://www.freedomswatch.org, dared to mention their own web site. But of course, MSNBC has run ads mentioning political websites before.
The real reason, I think: They don’t want to acknowledge their (and our) debt to our troops. They don’t want it to be true, that freedom isn’t free. They don’t want the War on Terror to exist. They don’t want it to be true, that the fight in Iraq is valid. They don’t want our troops’ heroism to be real.
Why? First, it’s all too scary and yucky to think about. Second, it exposes how vacuous their lives, concerns and politics are.

Besides,
Give ‘em credit, Bruce.
They’re busy hailing the fact that they no longer have to destroy embryos for stem cells, trying to figure out how to pay for Iraq so the kooks like gil and Ian don’t notice, and how to make themselves even more unpopular than Bush and Iraq.

Doesn’t Fox ban anti-war ads by liberal groups as well? Frankly, I think both networks should show both types of ads. Also, according to the article linked here, NBC said they would run the ad without the groups website address. It’s interesting to note that Liberal msm outlets CNN and the despised NY Times are running these ads, along with Fox. Im curious if they’re trying to run the ads on ABC or CBS as well….

“Doesn’t Fox ban anti-war ads by liberal groups as well?”
No, although this is a straw man. Neither of these ads has anything to say about the war.

One Democrat, maybe. Joe Lieberman. I wish he’d run.

This is interesting since NBC is owned by General Electric which is one of the largest defense contractors.

NBC News is one of the most far-left anti-US news networkss in the country

NBC is certainly free to decide which ads to run and all that. But I certainly don’t see whatever it is that NBC’s management sees as so controversial. Of course, I don’t see the world through the same lens that our so-called elites see through.
Be it this ad, immigration, trade, or economic policy, our “elites” are completely disconnected from the experience that, for the rest of us, is our daily existence.
Comment by Robert — December 8, 2007 @ 1:25 pm - December 8, 2007
Funny, NBC certainly runs with MoveOn.org and other far-left advertisers. And they certainly don’t find them “controversial.”

I’ve seen two different ads on TV and was moved by both. NBC showed a moveon anti war ad but wouldn’t accept this one. Ah their “we aren’t bias” slip is showing again. How sad to undermine this wonderful sentiment for the troops. What ever happened to “we are for the troops, but against the war”.
Comment by Gene in Pennsylvania — December 8, 2007 @ 5:29 pm - December 8, 2007
NBC caved and will show the ad.
This is a good clip of Newt deriding NBC

If we can have tampon, yeast infection and douche ads during dinner, why not this?

Turns out the NBC lawyer who blocked the ads has donated over $45,000 to congressional Democrats.

Remember when General John Batiste (commanded the 1st Infantry Division in Iraq from 2004 to early 2005) turned against the Iraq war and was trumpeted by the media / Left?
Well… He’s turned back. And it’s good to see.
Off topic, but I especially liked his digression on Iran:
My view exactly.

20: Let’s see:
Newt Gingrich: Married 3 times; served first wife with divorce papers while she was in hospital being treated for cancer and screwing around with soon to be second wife. Carried on affair with soon to be third wife while still married to second wife.
Bill Clinton: Very public marital problems, yet worked out issues and still married to the same woman for over 32 years.
And by the way, I do actually agree that NBC was foolish in not running the ads.

Lets see…
Leftist dwelling in irrelevent personal life of former politician when the topic at hand has nothing to do with such conduct.
Once again, scortched earth tactics by the Left to delegitmiize political opponents.
Man you people are relentlessly nasty.
Comment by Vince P — December 9, 2007 @ 11:37 pm - December 9, 2007
LOL…that’s very funny considering how people here blame clinton for things even though he’s been gone for years. I noticed your republican buddies didn’t rally anywhere to get rid of DADT, but you folks love to blame clinton for it.
You love that “oh, just move on and stop dwelling” attitude, just so long as it fits your own agenda.
Plus, let’s not forget it was Republicans who went after Clinton and hounded him from the moment he entered the white house (ie, sore losers) and all they could come up with was the dirty laundry un-earthed by that cow Linda Tripp and hence he was impeached for, essentially, having sex in the white house.
Comment by Kevin — December 10, 2007 @ 3:57 am - December 10, 2007
Liar.. It was a Democrat Attorney General who appointed an Indepenent Council to investigate allegations.
And who signed the IC bill into law? Bill Clinton. Repubicans were against the renewal of the IC act, but the Democrats , wanting to look so pious, never imageing that the law would be turned on them, renewed the act.
And then also the Sexual Harassment law that Paula Jones sued Clinton under, was a bill that Bill Clinton signed into law too.
Linda Tripp did not “unearth” anything.. Monica Lewinski rubbed the conspiracy in Linda Tripp’s face.. Linda Tripp did the absolutely right thing and notify a Court officier of violations of the Law in regards to a Civil Rights lawsuit.
So you’re ultimately dishonest with how you cast those events…. complete disregards for the actual situation and facts..
This is why no one takes your whining about the Bush administration’s non-scandals seriously… you folks dont give a $hit about the law…you only care about gaining advantage from any cynical ploy in context with the law.
Thats the kind of intigrity you have.. None.

And you know that’s a damn lie and you’re a contemptable, dispicable, lying POS for participating in it. Just because his liberal opponent said so doesn’t make it true.
I hereby, in the presence of God and the GayPatriot blog, demand that you provide irrifutable evidence to back up your absurd claim and not rely on Tony Center’s lying points.
The gauntlent has been smacked across your petulent face and lies before you on the ground. The question is do you have the balls to pick it up?

So much vitriol, so easily resolved. From ABC news:
So the “serving papers” = not true. Discussing divorce terms while she was recovering from cancer = true. Does this resolve your problem, TGC?

Yeah, they should just run the ad. This was a no-brainer.

Oh yeah you creep? You should have heard the military people on the radio today.. they were freakin’ outraged and livid as well as their families.
It is not political to support the people fighting our wars.. only the freakin Leftards make it political because for them their political war never ends

28: Should we go back to the beloved Reagan who seemed to have an issue (dating back to the 1950s) of being unable to recall events with which he was involved?
29: Oh, I’m sorry – do you have some insight into their personal lives of which we’re unaware? Comes down to: Clintons – still on first marriage after 32 years. Gingrich: on his 3rd marriage. Or perhaps we should talk about the sham that appears to be Senator Craig’s marriage…….

They didn’t show this ad because it is a non-partisan group with a partisan message. They usually allow it when it is close to the elections, or when it is paid for by the candidates themselves. But they don’t want to get into another swiftboat incident.
Its more marketing politics within government politics than an actual conspiracy.
