Does Bill Want Hillary to Lose? One Diva’s Thoughts

December 19, 2007 by GayPatriotWest

My brother wanted me to post on Bill Clinton’s recent appearance on the Charlie Rose show. As I hadn’t watched it, I didn’t feel competent to talk about it. But, blogress diva Ann Althouse did and offers her insights here. I took particular note of this observation:

I thought Bill Clinton seemed really angry about something. I had the impression that something was nagging at him that he couldn’t talk about. I also noticed that he used the words “she” and “her” to great excess and rarely voiced his wife’s name.

She also speculates that “Bill secretly wants Hillary to lose.” The same thing has occurred to me. On more than on occasion.

As Glenn Reynolds would say, read the whole thing.

Perhaps because Rush pointed out that he’s been running around talking about himself and how rich he is as opposed to talking about Hillary?

Another Diva, the Anchoress has noticed the same thing. She wrote this yesterday.

As I’ve noted: I’m more and more convinced that Bill Clinton does not want his wife to win – that he does not want his presidency compared to hers – not when her presidency will immediately and forever be more compelling because she will be a “woman” president and a “war” president. He doesn’t want a close scrutiny of his library donors and daily pocket-liners. I’m not sure he wants to give up his freedom – he seems to fly every day – for the constraints of a “first gentleman” role. If I’m wrong and he really does want her to win…he’s going about that in a strange way.

I think Hillary got taken for a ride, she was promised all those years in Arkansas, and the messy years in the White House. You stand by my, and then it’ll be your turn and I’ll stand by you. I guess being the wife of Bill is like being a Friend of Bill. He’ll use you, and then abuse you.

All the more reason to vote against Hillary. She can’t control him, but wants us to think she’ll be calling the plays. I’m starting to think a Edwards-Obama ticket may bring a better, forward looking debate with contrast between the two parties.

What makes you think the liberals will vote for a black guy, especially one who isn’t “black enough”?

I’m not the only Democrat with serious misgivings about Hillary. She wants to run on her husband’s record, not her own. But that means she has to take responsibility for DOMA and DADT? She can’t have it both ways. I don’t think she can win without him campaigning for her but when he does it’s all about him and only reminds us that she’s not nearly as good a speaker or as charismatic as her husband. She might have been the brains, but he had the personality. Plus I just don’t want to hear about Whitwater, Rose Law Firm, Vince Foster, Monica, and all that other 90s crap. It’s 2007. The country has moved on.

As for Obama, I should point out that he seems to be the first African American presidential candidate to transcend race. (I don’t think he will be the last. And I think Powell could have done this as well if he had run.) His support is not about him being or not being “black enough”. It’s not about that at all. He projects a positive image of the future. More candidates would do well to articulate a positive vision for the nation rather than just attack the other candidates.

With the peaks and valleys of humiliation, hatred, and haranguing that she has known in their marriage, I never stopped to consider his subconscious (even ulterior) motives. Win or lose, they’re set for life, right?

I can picture the YT vids, post-Obama surge, next month:
    Leave Hillary ALOOONE!

I’m not black, so I can’t answer that question.
If Hillary-Bill is on the campaign trail for the next 9 months it will be cheap Carville like tactics. Edwards may be an opportunist populist, Obama a bit inexperienced, but they will stay on issues and away from underhand attacks.

I don’t think anybody he’s stumped for has one an election. Kinda like a kiss of death.

I’m not black, so I can’t answer that question.

You don’t have to be. Libs and Clinton Inc. especially have a history of capping the knees of black politicians who forget their place. I’m worried that “Osama Obama” may wind up “comitting suicide” by shooting himself through a car windshield.

Well Romney is not black, but his statement “I saw my father march with Martin Luther King.” is now said to be figurative.

Romney will get 1% of the black vote, Republicans can’t win on that. All I want for Christmas is a Giuliani nomination.

Basically Romney lied. I swear these right wingers just can’t help themselves.

I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed that story better when the role of Bob Roberts was played by Tim Robbins and not a pathetic self-destructive college student.

Gee. Giuliani. Just what the country needs. A liberal northeastern gun-grabbing lawyer. No thanks.
