Queen of Earmarks: Ms. Hillary

January 24, 2008 by GayPatriot

I can’t believe we haven’t heard about this dishonorable distinction — Earmarker-In-Chief — before now!  (h/t – Drudge)

A group that lobbies for needle exchanges, for allowing more immigrants with HIV/AIDS to legally enter the country, and for condom distribution in prisons received a $303,000 federal earmark pushed by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).
That was one of 261 earmarks Clinton personally helped usher through Congress. That’s more earmarks than any other member of Congress seeking the presidency, according to an analysis by the watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW).

Most of the 261 earmarks with Clinton’s name on them went to New York counties and municipalities, universities and colleges, and charitable organizations.

For the candidates still in the primary race, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) had 46 earmarks, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) had 10 earmarks, Kucinich had 9 earmarks and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had no earmarks, according to the CAGW.

And SHE is supposed to be a candidate running on fiscal responsibility?   HA!

I just read a separate item on Ace: Hillary Clinton Earmarked $1 Million For Black Pastor’s “Non-Profit;” Coincidentally, He Endorsed Her Last Week.

I didn’t know Hilldog was the Congressional “leader” in earmarks, though!

    As for this:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had no earmarks

That is impressive! Better than Ron Paul. I just got done slagging McCain up and down in the other thread, but, I always gotta give credit where it’s legitimately due.

Sen. KKK Byrd must be raising a Grand Army of the Republic to go after Hillary.

This is one of the reasons many of us like McCain. Not that I agree with him on all that much but I think he gets some things and will stick to those principles.

Interesting information about Hilary though. Another reason I don’t like her. We really need to reform this mess in Washington. Not new rules and not new laws. Just holding the people we elect responsible for what they do there. And if we don’t like it then don’t send them back. A little turnover would put the fear of God into these inside the beltway types. For some reason they think they work for lobbyists and special interests and not us. This is why I am for campaign finance reform. I know that some people here think that violates the right to free speech, but it’s very clear that Congress is listening to donors more than voters. We aren’t going to get spending under control so long as Congressmen and Senators have to “pay back” corporations and interest groups for the financial support that got them elected. McCain was right on this. The law might not have worked but the principle was correct. The system isn’t corrupt, just the people that run it.

In all fairness, Obama’s 46 earmarks are quite impressive considering he has been on the campaign trail ever since he was elected. How do you get 46 earmarks without even being in DC?

Is there any question any more that a vote for Hillary and Bill is a vote for the same old status quo? Earmarks, out of control spending, hateful politics, politics of personal distruction, mean and hateful.

This just in from the Clinton Campaign:

Hillary leads the candidates in legislating “revenue offsets” that spur the economy and help small business hire the most needy among us.
