Log Cabin's ads helped defeat Romney - because they were targeted in Iowa, and helped the Huckster.  My problem with the ads was they had no relationship to Log Cabin Republicans mission.Â

What's interesting is that there really wasn't much difference between Romney and McCain on gay issues (only difference was McCain supported State Constitutional Amendments on gay marriage, and Romney supported the FMA). Romney also always made it a point to say he opposed discrimination against gays, and had a more open minded position than McCain on Don't Ask, Don't Tell - Romney didn't want to change it in time of war, McCain supported DADT period.Â

Log Cabin Republicans also played defense for McCain when McCain ran disgusting anti-gay robocalls against Romney in Florida.Â

Ironically - Log Cabin Republicans and Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth - both worked very hard to sink Romney's campaign.Â

Oh, grow up, Tim.

Have you even bothered to read this blog? Of course we see Log Cabin as a political group. And no, political groups don't take scalps, they advance ideas, interests and candidates. Â It serves nothing to advance the ideas when you kick a man when he is down and out and that is what Log Cabin did.

And there's more. Log Cabin is congratulating itself overmuch if it thinks its ads were responsible for Mitt's downfall. Mitt was responsible for his own downfall, not being able to inspire Republican voters.

honestly I think you are thinking of LCR as a charity group instead of a political group, and that said a political group takes scalps.Â

sonic offers: "Like it or not, the Republican moderates, after being pushed around and pushed aside for the last eight years or more, are finally pushing back."

Damn str8 sonic! It'll take a lot of pushing to move the stench of the legacy of a conservative-run Congress out of the Party. But it's worth the effort. The battle is ongoing in state after bloody state and it's about time.

I doubt the "moderate" Republicans suport the bloated big-spending ways of the current administration anymore than the conservatives do. the main difference between the moderates and the self-scribed "conservatives" is abortion and gay-rights....and maybe tax cuts. Many moderates would prefer meaningful tax-reform and tax-simplication, especially when it comes to small business and entrepeneurism over simpistic, formulaeic tax-cuts.

the Republican moderates, after being pushed around and pushed aside for the last eight years or more, are finally pushing back
sonicfrog, I don't get that at all. The Bush dynasty (41 and 43) *was* the candidate of Big Government Republican moderates. From "a kinder, gentler America" to big-spending "compassionate conservatism". GOP conservatives only ever had one President, whom all praise (or pretend to) now that he is safely dead.

Like it or not, the Republican moderates, after being pushed around and pushed aside for the last eight years or more,

Perhaps they need some Midol or something instead trying to make everybody else miserable?

A little short on class, but absolutely right as far as being conservative goes. Note that Romney only became a "True" conservative, according to the field judges (Rush and Hannity) only after it became a apparent that McCain was becoming a true threat to the hard liner's dynasty. Like it or not, the Republican moderates, after being pushed around and pushed aside for the last eight years or more, are finally pushing back.

Romney is in John Edwards land, a one-term office holder with good looks and a coalition that is difficult to grow.
If he had to compete on the same financial turf of all the other prospects, how far would he have gotten?
This year was his one in 50 million shot, it won't come again.
