Why I Cannot Vote For Barack Obama
Ok, I can’t figure out how to embed the video here like I normally do on my blog, so here’s a link to Obama’s campaign commercial that this post comments on.
My gawd, is he serious?!? Obama certainly is more telegenic and is a far better speaker, but this makes me shiver remembering the miserable failure of Jimmy Carter’s presidency. We saw how this kind of attitude turned out the first time, what possible reason do we have as a nation to go through that kind of mess again? I’m grateful to Obama for torpedoing the Hildabeast yet now I’m unhappy that he is essentially forcing me to vote for that jerk the “Maverick”. Thanks for nothing, Barack.

Now, I can’t say with much certainty if Democrats on the whole are unserious about foreign policy. But I can tell you that Obama is unserious about foreign policy.
He thinks he is going to globally ban fissile material? We can’t get a single backwards hellhole like Iran to stop their program, but we’re going to "ban" it across the globe? Because Iran and Korea are doing so well with the current ban!
And he’s going to bring a "world without nuclear weapons"? What kind of silly Captain Planet BS is this? And what kind of idiot do you have to be to think you’re going to put that genie back in the lamp? It’s like saying you’re going to have a world without airplanes.
Really, though, it’s all of a kind with the same childish, Heaven-On-Earth crap that the most True Believer left have been chanting for years. A World Without Borders. A World Without War. A World Without Hatred. etc. For some reason it never occurs to them that on a planet of 6+ billion people who are living in this paradise, all it takes to unmake it is 1 person with a weapon to declare a border exists.

The Democrats are definitely unserious about foreign policy; just witness their actions in Congress over the past few years.
Yes, that is Jimmy Carter hiding behind a Barack Obama mask.
A World Without Borders? What Obama and his leftist pals really want is A World Without America.

Holy fu*k!  Of course, it’s no surprise that when a Democrat proposes (for the first time in 50 years) a cut in spending, it will be accomplished by gutting the defense budget. Shocker! But what possible objective is to be served by dismantling the military defenses that we already have?!  Apparently, under an Obama administration it’s not acceptable to continue to possess the nuclear weapons we have already paid for and exercise the prudence and good judgment regarding their use that only Western nations are capable of.  No.  We need to go one step further (toward the propeller) and have a "world without nuclear weapons," so that we can say to all of our sweet, considerate global neighbors that we are not only halting the production of new weaponry, but completely dismantling our defenses altogether. Consistent with his infantile view of the world, I’m sure Obama intends this to be the grand gesture that will repair our "unilateral cowboy" image and "restore our standing in the global community." So, I guess Obama plans to supplant the evil, draconian Bush Doctrine (You’re Either With Us Or Against Us), with the Obama Doctrine (ummmm……Brace Yourselves? Bend Over? Thank You Sir, May I Have Another?) I thought I knew what was at stake in this election, but until I saw THAT, I guess I really didn’t. Clearly, we cannot continue to regard this man as simply the unbelievably naive, benign, well-meaning, inexperienced socialist the liberals are swooning over. This fuc*er is unapologetic in his intentions to bring this country to its knees. BTW, am I the only one troubled by the fact that the only foreign country Obama mentioned by name was Russia? Would it be paranoid for me to assume that the "world" Obama is referring to in the phrase "world without nuclear weapons" means: "all countries except Iran, China, Pakistan and North Korea"? Is it now fair to conclude that the only country Obama really doesn’t trust with nukes is the U.S.?

Hooray! Obama has given us some specifics in his audacity of hope agenda. May the list grow and flourish. The more of this he poops out, the more he has to step in. I am particularly gratified that he chose to start with little floaters that McCain can blow back into his face. By the way, it seems like the great orator has trouble reading a teleprompter. His delivery in this example would have gotten him voted off of "Idol."

As a republican who has been shamed by all the devide and concur done by the current administration Obama is a breath of fresh air. I would have voted for Mc cain but if he could not defend his family against the bush attack machine I fear he will not do any better in the General election especially supporting George W ‘s personVendetta in Iraq. I am not about to waste my vote on aman who will not allow me to serve in the military ( and I am a disabled Vet) I will not allow a man who wants to take this Bush Vendetta for Iraq on another 100 years if we must, if that the case come on and say it the word is called a Draft to fill the ranks of our military. I certainly do not think our economy can withstand the highest deficits that This current occupant has saddled us with after being left asurplus which was squandered in tax cuts and should have been saved until we were certain, a year in a booming economy would not have hurt anyone to forgo a lousy 300.00 Money which would have been handy for the war effort. Frankly being disgusted by George Bush refusal to look for Osama ben Lauden was enough to sicken me having Lost my dear friend on AA flt 11 and friends at the Pentagon. Its enough to make one strongly consider Obama.

Don’t panic, ILoveCapitalism. I’ll handle this. #5: "I am not about to waste my vote on aman who will not allow me to serve in the military" Interesting, Jae. You won’t support McCain because he won’t allow you to serve in the military. So, instead, you plan to support Obama, who plans to cut military funding, halt the development of military defense technology and completely dismantle our nuclear defenses so we can live in "a world without nuclear weapons." Yeah, that makes perfect sense. By the way, as someone so concerned about government deficits, squandered surpluses and the "lousy 300.00" tax rebates that "could have gone toward the war effort," do you have any opinion concerning Obama’s plan to completely dismantle and dispose of our nuclear defense system? Any idea on how many trillions of dollars those weapons cost the taxpayers, Jae? Do you have any problem at all with Obama’s plan to throw all of that on a gazillion-dollar sh*t-pile? You’re right, Jae. Obama’s a breath of fresh air…at a Texas slaughterhouse on a July afternoon. P.S. I find your "disabled vet" status to be highly suspect.  For starters, our American soldiers know how to spell "divide and conquer."

I am a democrat but I don’t want to vote for Obama, Hillary is my girl even that will get me roasted here. I have never liked his foriegn policy and she does a much better job in debates by showing how much more she knows about the subject than him.
I think it will be hard for Obama to make the arguement that would be better at foriegn policy and defense than McCain. People want experience in that position and change in what we do, but experienced politican knows what are the best and fesible changes.
I think you will see more McCain Democrats than Obama Republicans…
Comment by Darkeyedresolve — February 28, 2008 @ 1:17 pm - February 28, 2008
Darkeye, I wouldn’t be too quick on that assesement.Â
I wonder if there won’t be far more dysgruntled (sic) conservatives who DO vote for Obama in the general election than a swell of quasi-Reagan blue-collar Democrats voting for McCain.
Remember, for a niche of the conservative movement, McCain is so bad that they think it’s better to "teach" America and the wayward GOP a lesson for embracing a RINO-liberal like McCain. And they’re willing to help hoist Obama onto the swearing-in platform in order to teach that lesson.
A summertime of Rush-boo and other ranters may get the little ditto-heads in line by Nov… and drinking that koolaid. And you can’t help ignore that President Obama would sure help the FarRight’s radio ratings for 4-8 years.
Remember, the last time the FarRight rallied and sought to "teach a lesson" with an election, they gave us NancyPelosi, HarryGreed and ol’ BlackJackMurtha… king of the corrupt political fundraisers.

To I love capitalism;
How dare you sir question my status as a disabled veteran I ask you have you served? I have you have no idea of the courage it takes to Volunteer freely and then be injured in service to this great nation. As far as your critic of my spelling your crass and have no knowledge in which you speak. With my injuries I am glad to be alive. I served under a honorable Republican Named Ronald Regan, who I also voted for. John Mc cain would have had my vote in 2000, Unfortunately he was slandered by the bush attack machine in South Carolina and failed to answer Bush. To this day we have no idea of where his money came from which is why I have never voted for Bush. I might add I find it highly suspect a man who never showed up for his own tour of duty is now President. Not to mention that Mr cheney is still on the payroll of Haliburton and his pay is defered until he leaves the office of Vice President Please explain to me the justification of the no Bid contract given to this company and how Mr. Chaney can accept this Blood money from my fallen Brothers in Arms. Oh yeah its very encouraging to spend Billions of dollars with no Over site. This way we can say Obama wants to cut the Military budget when actually he would abide by the constitution which this administration has tried to trash in overreaching of executive powers. Yes I am a republican I am one that believe Ike Eisenhower who warned us of the industrial Military complex. I am hawkish and believe in a strong defense but this must be used when diplomacy fails. you can call me a cunard for the Left but when a party wants to change the constitution to ban My ability to marry who I please I have a problem with that because as My grandmother said Love nothing that does not love you back! the thing is I have an open mind and I have not heard Mc Cain defend his own family against Bush so it leads me to wonder will he defend me against the attacks of those who were in the 108th do nothing congress who sought to make me and my lifestyle a reason to amend the precious document that gives us liberty. The very fact here this party is nothing like the great men Like Abe Lincoln,Teddy Roosevelt, Taft and Eisenhower. Somewhere along the line cronism has set in and become the standard way of operation. Corporate interest have taken the place of the common good. Now that the country is broke and deeply indebted to China interest we are now at the mercy of a regeime that if they decide to dump our dollars we are stuck and will be worse off than Brasil in the 1970′s . The Very fact that when Chaney met with Nixon in the early 1970′s as an executive for Ford he fought against the very restrictions that have lead us to have cars that are no better then those our parents have had is unconscionable. The fact is this Adminsitration and its cast of charcaters has constantly sought to eliminate transpareny in government begining with the first engery meeting held in secret by Mr Chaney with the likes of Enron and Haliburton. This alone makes me wonder what are they hiding alonmg with the silence on campaign contributions which were never revealed to the public. Yes I ask questions I would never vote for anyone Republican or Democrat who sis not explain where their contributions come from. No matter how you put it a snake is a snake weather its black or right. I would glad serve in the miltary if I was not in a needless war that had nothing to do with the towers falling. I would proudly serve to stand for my personal friend Karen Martini lead flight attendant on American flight 11. I suppose my party has given way to a lack of ethical princile in order to shove the bible down my throat and push me back into a closet which no longer fits. I will continue to try to bring some voice of reason to a party that tries to be hawkish and shows no thoughts towards reason. I will not be some mindless lemming going along with the crowd. More importantly I would welcome anyone of character who would engage our enemies diplomatically and with responsible military action. I gave my health under Ronald Regan but even he understood that we had responsibility more than the military like our infrastructure which is crumbling because of the fact there is not enough of the pie to go around because of the exorbitant no bid contracts handed to Haliburton and other cronies of Mr Chaney and Mr Bush who have taken blood money and not used and measure of cost containment but overcharged us in this war effort. I well understand the price of freedom is not free, but this is Wrong as has been wrong ever since W took over the Whitehouse. The use of signing statements to not comply with teh law shows that there is no respect for the law certainly not to protect and defend the United States Constitution. I remember under George Herbert Walker Bush he required his Whitehouse to refrain from the appearance of wrongdoing Please explain what happened? The party is way off track….yeah call me a liberal if you lie but remember as you point your finger look at the four fingers pointing back at you. I would not have to consider voting for Obama if we had someone who would stand up and reverse the illegal occupation of Iraq. If we had a man in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave who went after Osama Bin Lauden instead of "frankly I don’t Know where he is I dont spend that much time looking for Him" That alone is a dereliction of duty of the POTUS duties. and its a slap in the face to My friend Karen’s Honor and allows her murder to go without being vanquished. To me and to her family it is totally unacceptable . So sir I will ask aagin as you asked me did you serve in this volunteer Miltary because if you did not you are not qualified to speak to me on being a Veteran….Its nice to think you can be a ramchair quaterback but it is not something I can accept or allow to go unanswered. I also must say for some one who is such a hawk How much time have yous spent with the Vets comming back from this War? I spend time with them every week Sir do you? How is it a adminsitration could dare treat veterans returning from war so badly charging them for meals after they have given their health. How is it an adminsistration could dare let Walter reed fall into such disrepair in a time of war when we have had thousand of injured who had to live in rate and mice infested barracks, oh but you say we need to throw more money at the miltary when they have shown a great negelect of my fellow Veterans. No sir the party needs to re- examine their principles and priorities. Let us not forget that Obama would be held to the constitution to keep and maintain the national defense, this is a mandate by the document. a cut to in the defense might lead to better services at a lower price. I am also certain that Obama would not let our ports security go to a Saudi Arabian corporation. Oh by the way can any of my good republicans explain why Haliburton moved to Dubai? Perhaps to escape congressional probes yet they are our largest defense provider….Something is wrong especially when good paying Jobs are fleeing the U.S. I believe in republican patriotism its why I served in the United States Air Force Honorably. Wake up already or are your interests so limited to corporate profitably that you can justify the billions in Blood money that will be given to Mr Chaney the day he leaves office if he is not impeached first. It saddens me greatly to have to speak so harshly about the party I have cherished but I will be the conscious of this party if I must I assure you.

It’s a little scary that people are so eager to buy into this stuff every time it’s offered.

You are aware, as erudite as you obviously are, that less than 25% of our debt is held by other countries with Japan holding more than China?
Oh by the way can any of my good republicans explain why Haliburton moved to Dubai?
Because a lot of businesses are opening in Dubai. Tons of companies are doing business there and it’s, therefore, a smart move to do so. They are still an American company.
Face it, you’re a fraud and a miserable, lying sonofabitch to boot. You’ve given yourself away with your own words. I doubt everything you’ve said including that you’re a veteran. You probably are disabled, but I doubt even that.
You’re one sick sonofabitch to claim to be a veteran and yet smear the military in the same post. Yes you did, so don’t you DARE try to claim you didn’t. There are plenty of us who have served and would never use the "chicken hawk" slur on anybody else. May a blanket party visit your household.

As opposed to your hatred and intolerance, not to mention ignorance listed above, I’ll take it any day. In that case, you’re damn right we’re intolerant.
justifying leaving the Us to avoid congressional investigation and keeping Cronism going.
Holy Jesus, you’re stupid. I don’t have to justify anything. HAL has two headquarters. One in Dubai and the main HQ in Houston. It’s still there. Translated into dumbass for you, they didn’t leave the country to avoid congressional prosecution. Further HAL and KBR has worked for the government and the DOD for about 50 years. Funny how nobody gave a damn about no-bid contracts under lord BJ or squealed like Ned Beatty about "blood money".
And just think, you’d have had to dig your own latrines. And who would repair the pipelines, rigs and infrastructure? Schlumberger (the French)? Would you rather not have Americans serving your chow?
And as far as the energy meetings goes, 39,000 pages were released back in 2003. Guess what they showed? Absolutely nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. Which is why the liberal media doesn’t talk about it anymore. Only dumbasses who don’t know any better still make fools of themselves on the internet.
But those are facts. What the hell do you care about that? That just gets in the way of the bullshit you unload. You’re full of it. You know it, we know it. You’re a liar and a sorry POS and I’m being very polite. If you did serve in the AF, surely you must have at least stumbled across the word "honor" somewhere?

Uh, excuse me?!? I was going to respond to some of your comments today until I saw this. My DD214 says the same damn thing, bucko. Only I was in the United States Navy. You know, the branch of service with real fliers.Â

If I am the "Joe" being referred to, the "Joe" part of my blog’s name is frequently mistaken to be my real name,  it’s true that the possibility of voting for Obama was very slim. It was more likely I would have voted Independent as a protest against both candidates. Yet given that Obama is appear to be channelling Carter, I’m forced to vote for McCain so that remote possibility is now gone.Â

What a great comment blog. Do I need to pay something for this???? Anyway, I have a DD214 as well. HOnorably discharged AND Navy Achievement Medal and Humanitarian Service Medal to boot, and I would never dream of putting out the drivel that "jae" posted here. He may be a vet, and I guess you can like Reagan, heck a bunch of Democrats and Moderates became temporary Republicans under Reagan’s powerful leadership (I’m getting nostalgic, help me). To quote a phrase "Just because a mouse lives in cookie jar, does not make him a cookie"

I started this election season full of hope and interest. Now frankly I couldn’t care less. It’s obvious nothing is going to get better in the next four years. You have a hustler and a nutcase to choose from. But glad to know this country can be depended on to hate women, at least we’re a consistent nation.
