The gay community is getting nowhere fast with the leaders of the community seeking liberal judges to demand “legal” change.
Did African Americans dance down the streets of major cities dressed in grass skirts to the sound of drums and barefoot? NO !
They dressed in suit and tie showing that they were no different than anyone else.
The yearly parades for the gay community have turned out to be nothing more than a circus freak show that are, to put it simply, embarrasing and uneffective.
The leaders of the community are failures.

After being booed at Stanford, Lucas wrote an article defending and explaining his views in the Stanford Daily. I don’t have the link handy, but at the time, Glenn Reynolds linked to it, and I read the article. I also read the comments submitted by many students in response to the article. The level of their discourse was appalling. Many were so blinded by their own elitism about being students at Stanford that they couldn’t reason their way out of a paper bag. They could only make ad hominem attacks–casting aspersions on him for being in the porn business–or they could play the game which many students at elite universities learn so well–that of not being able to see the forest for the trees.

Call me naive, but not late to dinner. I normally might agree with you, but considering that he cares enough to make his stars wear condoms, I kind of doubt that he would be involved in such stuff.

However, I do offer the caveat that it wouldn’t be that surprising if he did.

Finally - Who has heard of Charles Merrill?

TNR’s Lucas article mentions him. He is apparently the co-founder of Merrill Lynch who became a "three-quarters gay" artist and radical atheist. He also ‘gets it’ about Islamo-fascism, though I might question some of his means of protest. He burned a rare $60,000 copy of the Koran last year, to make a statement. You can google "charles merrill koran" to find out more. Relevant because his home page features an article by Michael Lucas.

To wit - I wonder how many “progressive” Hollyweird types (Penn, Sarandon, Moore et al) would condemn this guy and his father for their pursuit of the American dream.

Given the chance, of course they’d condemn him. If his porn helped bring down a Republican, they’d be cheering from the sidelines. But since Lucas is stating the obvious about our enemies - they will be silent. He hasn’t set foot in their territory yet, (Hollywood), so they don’t care. To be honest, I thought he’d set up business down the street from me, since I live in the ‘porn capital of the world’. More porn is produced here than anywhere else.

I have a friend who works the support side of the business, but of course, she doesn’t work for a porn company. It’s an adult intimacy aid company.
Whatever, it helps pay the mortgage on her house.

The best line of the story about Michael Lucas contains this salient point:

“It totally escapes me how gay people can side with burqa-wearing, jihad-screaming, Koran-crazed Muslims. What’s the point to respect their culture, or supposed culture, when they have a strong contempt for mine?”

And THAT is why I am a proud gay conservative.

I haven’t seen Lucas’ porn, but I know in advance it will be banal (even if it has traces of thought or art), because porn, being porn, always is.

Having said that: I love it that Lucas is a self-made man, that he helps his family, and that he "gets it" about Islamo-fascism.

I don’t see how you can be a gay person and not love Western Civilization - wanting to see it defended, and appreciating the people who defend it. Bush and Cheney are a victim of their own success here. They have done such a great job in defending us since September 11 that the HARMs (Hit And Run Morons) of this blog now think, or claim to think, that their own gay freedom and lives aren’t under threat.

Speaking from experience, I can say that in certain instances when getting intimate with Hubby, a little porn goes a long way. Just my two cents.

That being said, I can only say "WOW!" when I read the part about Lucas’ dad being employed as a set designer on his son’s films. Such openness boggles the mind.
