UK Muslims Win Over Gays in School Dispute

April 3, 2008 by GayPatriot

First they take the gay books….(h/t – VtheK) … then they hang the gays… then they behead the gays….

Two primary schools have withdrawn storybooks about same-sex relationships after objections from Muslim parents. Up to 90 gathered at the schools to complain about the books which are aimed at pupils as young as five. One story, titled King & King, is a fairytale about a prince who turns down three princesses before marrying one of their brothers.

The decision was made to enable the schools to “operate safely” after parents voiced their concerns at meetings.

Around 40 are said to have gathered at Easton to speak to staff and another 50 at Bannerman Road.

Members of the Bristol Muslim Cultural Society said parents were upset at the lack of consultation over the use of the materials.

“Operate safely?” How very Germany, 1935!

As VtheK wrote to me: This is what happens in societies where there are no basic rights, only competing grievance groups. The biggest, most intimidating, most “aggrieved” group will always win.

Round 547:

  • Islamists -547
  • Gays – Countless Dead throughout the Islamic World

Biggest Losers: American Gay Leftists Who Praise Insurgents, Palestianians and Iranian Dictators… While Denegrating the Freest Nation On Earth.

Maybe now a few more gays, at least in the UK, will wake up.  (Peter Tatchell has actually understood this issue for awhile… he may have predicted this to some extent.)

Is there any other constituency in the UK, US, Canada or Oz that could win such a concession? I’m not much for this sort of material being part of the public school curriculum but if the alternative view is that homosexuality is a hangin’ offence I know where I stand on the question. With the poofs.

Maybe instead of "American Gay Leftists," they should be called "Pro-Terrorist Leftists, who happen to like men a bit more than most?"  The gay part isn’t that important.

Color me conflicted. At this point in time, any children’s book that features homosexuality is a political treatise. Since Muslims are deadly serious about the topic, I suspect their objections are taken far more seriously than any wimpy "turn-the-other-cheek" Christian objection. The whole "Heather Has Two Mommies" conflict is actually a war over children’s minds.

I prefer that parents be in charge of indoctrination and that the schools focus on teaching and improving reading skills without solving race relations, global warming, religious conflicts and the gay agenda at the same time. Most teachers I know would make lousy arbiters in a serious conflict resolution arena. Mostly, they are long on preach and short on meaningful practice. (I have been a teacher for 45 years.)

I agree that parents can have valid objection to the books in question, and that parents should have say over what books appear in a school library, or have the option of leaving public schools without a tax penalty.

But the issue here is *why* a school will ban books at the request of Muslims, but if a Christian objects to the same books, the Christian will be told to shut up and stop being narrow-minded.

The simple reason is, because Christians don’t blow up and behead people for not complying with the demands of their religion.

Society, thus, is surrendering to thuggery.

Imagine if the slaveowners of the Confederacy had waged a terror campaign against the north in the manner of jihadis in order to protect their right to keep slaves. What if, further, anyone who spoke out against slavery was murdered (like Theo Van Gogh) terrorized (like Ayaan Hirsan Ali)  or silenced (Geert Wilders).  Contemporary politically correct "nothing is worth dying for" thought would dictate that the institution of slavery be "tolerated" for the sake of "peace" and "Coexistence."

"But the issue here is *why* a school will ban books at the request of Muslims, but if a Christian objects to the same books the Christian will be told to shut up and stop being narrow-minded."

There have been a number of recent examples of books being removed from the school reading list or hidden on the top shelf in a locked room in the basement rather than readily available in the library because of the complaints of conservative Christian pressure groups.  Certainly they don’t threaten physical violence (at least the vast majority don’t) but it can’t be said that they aren’t successful.

V the K, can you honestly claim that the things you mentioned didn’t happen in the fight against slavery?  Unfortuneatly Al Gore hadn’t invented the internet yet so there weren’t hundreds of sources of information uncensored by the gov’t but there most certainly was murder, terrorism and silencing commited in the defense of slavery.  And most likely on the other side too.

Thuggery is by no means a new invention, and "society" has used it quite freely as a way to hold down the minority.

I do agree that we need to stand up to the forces who would twist our freedom to match their religious beliefs, whether they be Muslim or Christian or Hindu or whatever.  And most especially those who resort to violence .

Dave, et al – The other element here that we, as Americans, are not aware of (and hopefully never will be) are these "Muslim Councils" that basically run outside and above British Law. THAT is the really scary part of this story…..

Not that parents found sex ed at grade 5 objectionable, but that the Muslim Councils have such power in the UK these days.

Any information on how many Christians have objected / had removed these books in the UK (or the US) for that matter?  If parents in this country (non-muslim of course) had demanded and won the removal of this book from their library, this site would hail them for being individualists, taking back their children’s education and score another mark against gay lefties for trying to force gay marriage down people’s throats.

The difference is, people recognized slavery was wrong and had the guts to fight for it. They didn’t just sit around sipping lattes, petting their lhasa apsos, and nodding in agreement as the New York Times editorial page decried the cultural intolerance of those who opposed slavery.

Kevin, I have read about some here in the US quite recently.   There was celebration on OneNewsNow and I think AFTAH who keep a very close watch on these things.  I haven’t heard of any in the UK. Even as an evil liberal I believe that the UK has gone overboard and had best stand up to some of the Muslim demands before it’s too late.

"taking back their children’s education and score another mark against gay lefties for trying to force gay marriage down people’s throats."

So, are you saying that the schools mentioned in the article above were correct in removing the books?  Or is it bad for a school to give in to pressure from Muslims but correct for them to give in to pressure from Christians?  To borrow the slavery theme – if schools had books available back then which were about a black child and a white child playing together as equals, would you call that forcing the idea of racial equality down people’s throats and demand that the parents have the right to "take back their children’s education"?Â

Thanks Bruce for your statements about the Muslim Councils, I knew they existed but not the extent of their influence.

We did (sorta). It was called Song of the South. I checked it out of the school library when I was in 3rd grade in Mississippi. Good luck finding it in the U.S. now. It wasn’t Christians, Conservatives that got rid of it either.

And who is it that won’t let kids take a Bible to school or allow for one in the school library? Korans and prayer rugs are fine at school, but woe be unto you who takes a Bible or displays a cross.

Gay = death sentence in Iran, but (per an interview I recently conducted with Arsham Parsi), as an Iranian gay guy you can live on, and even with your boyfriend…providing you get your penis hacked off in a sex change operation. Of course, if you’re like a number of gay Iranians who’ve gone through this procedure, you’ll eventually kill yourself. "Barbaric" doesn’t begin to describe life under Sharia law.

Proof at last that political-correctness and "multiculturalism" have nothing to do with "tolerance" and everything to do with appeasement and fear. Christian groups raised the same objections to the same books and were summarily told to go f*** themselves. Liberals aren’t "tolerating" Islam, they are scared to death of it — to the point that they are willing to flat-out surrender their culture and society.

At least now we know if we want to change any liberal policy, all we need to do is claim it offends Islam, and sign our complaints with Muslim names.

Huckleberry Finn is the great coming of age novel which deals deeply and with great care and sensitivity with race. One of its greatest gifts is showing the irony a man who has been labeled by society with an epithet of race while so many whites around him are walking stereotypes with no sense of honor.

Liberals drove Huckleberry Finn from the curriculum in high schools. It remains the greatest book for stimulating the "conversation on race" that we have. But when the political correctness police decide to brand something as being forbidden in their newspeak world, the battle is lost.

Huckleberry Finn was banned and burned by small minds who only cared about their self righteousness.

Now, I am ready for the list of books driven out by conservatives.

"Now, I am ready for the list of books driven out by conservatives."

    http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/challengedbanned/challengedbanned.cfm#wcbÂ

Interesting stats and commentary on the topic of banned books.  It doesn’t say that conservatives were the initiators of the complaints but one look at the list gives a good idea.  Another list from 2000 had the usual favorites "Heather has Two Mommies", "Daddies Roomate" etc.  "King and King" has been challenged, I’m not sure how often that was successful.  Yes, Huck Finn was referred to as the 5th most banned book ever, but no sources that I found could support your "evil liberals" squeal.  Harry Potter books are burned regularly.   One psycho legislator in a southern state said that all books that mention homosexuality in a positive light should be gathered and buried.  One, perhaps the same one, introduced a bill to remove all such books from the schools and libraries.  The book that the Muslims wanted banned in the original post "Tango makes Three" is the current favorite to attack.  There are countless other examples but I don’t want you to have to spend the time countering it with some sin commited by a liberal.
Your need to demonize liberals while completely denying the fact that conservatives are guilty of the same "crime" is bizarre to me.  "I know you are but what am I" was stupid on the playground and even more so coming from an adult, and horrendous to hear from a teacher.

Sorry, Dave, but your reply is a total miss. I gave you Huck Finn as an example and you reply that Harry Potter is burned regularly!Â

Of course there are conservatives who try to chase books out of libraries. I am still interested in your list of books chased from the curriculum by conservatives. So far, I will credit you with Heather Has Two Mommies.Â

First, how could this be true when, at the same time, liberals are attacking Christianists everywhere some moral crusader looks?
Second, I think you might have been speaking about fundamentalist Islam, not Islam as a whole.  But, at the same time, maybe I shouldn’t really expect words to match reality here.

"First, how could this be true when, at the same time, liberals are attacking Christianists everywhere some moral crusader looks?"

Precisely because you know as well as I do that muslims will hang you, stone you to death or cut your head off for being gay, while the worst Christians will do is tell you they believe gay sex is sinful.

Secondly, its painfully obvious that its true as liberals across the globe scream and wail at "fascist" Christians oppressing you and trampling  your civil rights if they dare criticize your crucifix in urine or S&M "last supper", but cower in fear and demand apologies when political cartoons criticize islam. Or how they demand a cross be removed from a chapel at a private college while simultaneously demanding public schools provide prayer rooms, foot washing facilities, and sex-segregated gym facilities for muslims. Or how great britain has thrown their laws against polygamy out the window to accomodate muslims. Or how hollywood cant buy celluloid fast enough to make all the anti-Christian films they pump out, yet cant make a movie about terrorism where the terrorists are actually muslim instead of german or french or neo-nazi while also joining in the worldwide liberal criticism of documentaries like Fitna, that are 100% factually accurate. And on and on…
And no, it wasnt just fundamentalist islam that was out rioting in the netherlands, it was mainstream islam.
And your use of sullivans "Christianist" term only belies your complete bigotry and ignorance and proves u havent got the faintest idea what reality is.

And let us all be reminded what liberal Democrat gays and lesbians insist are "educational experiences".

    http://xpress.sfsu.edu/archives/news/004352.html

Some of the most unlikely attendees of Sunday’s kinky leather fetish festival were under four feet tall. Two-year-olds Zola and Veronica Kruschel waddled through Folsom Street Fair amidst strangers in fishnets and leather crotch pouches, semi and fully nude men. The twin girls who were also dressed for the event wore identical lace blouses, floral bonnets and black leather collars purchased from a pet store. Fathers Gary Beuschel and John Kruse watched over them closely. They were proud to show the twins off……..Father of two, John Kruse said it is an educational experience for children. But of course, Sullivan and his ilk rant about the people who raise objections to that being "Christianists" and claim they’re "intolerant" and "close-minded".

Let’s not be reflexively dismissive of connections/appeal for the jihadi with, potentially, our Religious Right (and Left) fellow citizens. Yes, stoning is out among fundamentalists generally but those who see wisdom in the anti-homosexual posturing of Rev Wright or Farakhan may also come to see wisdom in "old school" reaction to gays generally. Creeping sharia in Canada should be giving us nightmares here, as it is done under an alliance of PC and old-timey morality. It may be insulting but it is no less true that sharia explicitly appeals for allies where ever they are to be found and some raw material is potentially in your neighbors. If not found they may, with difficulty, be made from this raw material. We are in a race for the hearts and minds of humanity. The jihadiis know this. We must know it too.

I am sorry but this is utterly ridiculous why do we have to remove same sex books on a muslims say so. We celebrate multiculturalisim don’t we which is for their benefit we don’t have to but we do so they should respect the teachings of our curriculum in return. The schools are not pushing homosexuality they are just making children aware that we are no longer just the normal 2.4 family and that other types of family do exist and in making the children aware of this is stopping bullying and homophobeia I think this just goes to show the world has gone over P.C. and does not respect the views of its white/black ENGLISH population who now seem to be the minority with no voice and no values or opinions.
