Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech

April 26, 2008 by GayPatriot

DATELINE, Denver CO — August 28, 2008.  This is the unedited transcript of the acceptance speech given this evening by Democratic Party Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL).

My fellow proper-thinking Americans and oppressed people of this nation — thank you.  You have spoken for change and we have delivered together.  For without change, we cannot have hope.  Without hope, there is no change.  When we get change we can lift up those bitter folks among us and rise to the promise of America.  The America that I observed from afar.

As we embrace this change together we must remember that we cannot challenge change for it is good.  Unity is most important for without unity, there is no hope; without hope, there is no change.  Without change there is no future.

So now I call on all Americans to ignore the past, ignore my past, ignore this nation’s history, ignore what has made this nation full of bitter and shallow people.   And rise up with me to the new Promised Land — the Federal Government.  Washington will be reclaimed by those of us who know better, who think better, who know you better than you know yourselves because we know that you know that you want change and change is hope.

Thank you for your nomination and I look forward to a spirited debate with Senator McCain so long as he doesn’t question my voting record, ethics, integrity, philosophy of governing, or the folks who have supported me and I grew up with.  Because if he does, it will be clear that the Republicans are devolving back to the policies of Jim Crow and all that it stands for.

Good night, and God Bless my campaign.

Reactions to Senator Obama’s speech:

“That is the best political speech I have ever heard.  This man is a born leader.  He was specific, yet sweeping in his rhetoric.  America should be proud tonight.”  — Chris Matthews, MSNBC

“It was hard to watch this speech without being moved to tears.  I now fully understand why all those women fainted throughout the primary campaign.  I can’t go on.”  — Anderson Cooper, CNN

“How he could stand up there and accept the Democratic nomination and not call for Bush’s impeachment is beyond me.  This guy is a joke.  This country is a joke.  I’m a joke.” — Keith Olbermann, MSNBC

“Does anyone know what the hell Obama was talking about?” — Brit Hume, FOX News Channel

Rev Wright complained that his sermon’s had snippets taken out of context and those out of context snippets were unfairly aired all over the media.

In order to provide the proper context, last night, Hugh Hewitt, on his radio show, played the full sermons of the “God Damn America” sermon and the “Sunday after 9-11 Chickens Coming Home To Roost” sermon

This link is to the audio clips of just the sermons (Note that Townhall has put an annoying ad in the beginning of each clip):

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 2 – Military making war for peace is like raping for virginity.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 3 – crusade and jihad are one and the same.

    Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 4 – This government lies, Part 1.

    Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 5 – This government lies, Part 2.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 6 – Education, health care, stolen election.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 7 – God damn America, and Condaskeezza Rice.

Jeremiah Wright – 9-16-01 – Cut 8 – Race economics in the Bible.

Jeremiah Wright – 9-16-01 – Cut 9 – Faith footnote – chickens coming home to roost.

Jeremiah Wright – 9-16-01 – Cut 10 – Black people jumping from the WTC towers.

    Jeremiah Wright – 9-16-01 – Cut 11 – Social transformation.

All eleven cuts in one file.

I urge everyoen to listen to the full surmons…a nd then imagine Obama sitting there, with his daughters.. week after week.. soaking it in.

This man wants to be President?

    Disturbing is an understatement.

I’m am s-o-o-o-o-o gonna vote for Obama!!!! I couldn’t hear the speech because I was at a Bible class/gun swap, but having read it ……. I feel faint. Thank you for printing it. I feel redeemed and ready to march forward to help create the Obama nation. Never have I been so certain that the future is ahead of us.

I found this post to be extremely amusing, its nice to have some funny posts once and awhile. Don’t believe I am going to have to start watching Fox News just to get a critical look at Obama.

Though you forgot to add at the end of his speech, that instead of applause there will be mass fainting epidemic of Obamacrats at the Convention

You left out part of Chris Matthew’s comment… I think it was the part about the “thrill going up his leg”… his eyes then rolled up and he moaned in ecstasy. A little “TV-MA” appeared on the TV screen during the replay.

Matthews already compared Obama’s Rev Wright Damage Control speech to MLK. His acceptance speech will be compared to the Gettysburg Address or perhaps the founding documents, and the inaugural will undoubtedly be the new Sermon on the Mount.

Too bad it totally contradicts everything Obama has actually done up to this moment.

Gullible people like you should be more hestitant to call other people poor bastards

How does anyone, bastard or otherwise, post a speech that hasn’t yet been given? You DID see the date and context for this satire, right?

As for the speech that Obambi gave in Minnesota, I will highlight one small chunk:

““I respect his many accomplishments, even if he chooses to deny mine.”

    Bwaaaaa! What accomplishments. Comedy gold.

    CHARACTER COMPARISONS …

Lofty speeches are great … but actons
    speak louder than words !!!

In addition to 20+ more years of service and
experience in the U.S. senate than the other
    candidate …

One candidate, John McCain watched his fellow
prisoner’s backs, at great cost to himself. After
3 years as a tortured P.O.W. in Vietnam, he was
offered early release by the enemy. But, since it
would have been dishonorable to get released
before his fellow prisoners, he refused, which
resulted in 2 1/2 additional years of torture and
    captivity.

The other candidate, Barack Obama threw his
self proclaimed friend, spiritual advisor, and mentor
of 20 years, under the bus for political expediency and gain.

To vote for Obama, after learning these differences …
will say as much about your character, as it does about
the character of the two candidates.

I found this rather offensive and more misleading than any conservative pundits’ statement that Obama’s take on McCain was misleading. To profess that this is the unedited version of his speech is dishonorable and as petty an act as any committed in the past 8 years by our current administration. Thanks a lot for reinforcing the fact that close-minded bigots still exist in plentiful fashion.

i just have one thing to say, personally idc what anyone says back to this, but how can u let another republican into office, McCain and Bush are the exact same person. hes just gonna f this country up more than Bush already has. and u know hes gonna increase taxes on the middle class, right? i would hope so. he doesnt want to end the war either. so y would u even consider voting for McCain, at least Obama wants change. and i know all politicians are liars, but at least Obama is somewhat believable

He won, but yet he still needs to attack McCain! What kind of leader is that? And why is he putting down Republicans for? If he’s going to be our President then he needs to accept all people, no matter who they are or what political party they are. He shouldn’t have won. We are in the middle of the war and we need a Republican leader. This is all a joke.

That much effeminacy doesn’t go with your professional persona, guy. You and Chris Matthews get the vapors over the same things; if only you could get over the fat thing.
