Glenn Reynolds reports that “Red Ken” Livingstone, the leftist Mayor of London, has lost his job, with Londoners voting this lover of all things anti-American out of office.
Oh Happy Day! Oh Happy, happy!
UPDATE: It seems London’s Telegraph pulled this article declaring Tory Mayoral candidate Boris Johnson the winner, but running this piece on the count dragging on.
ADDENDUM TO UPDATE: This google search shows the headline announcing Johnson’s victory.
UP-UPDATE: This London Times blog helps explain why we don’t yet have an official verdict on the election.
UP-UP-UPDATE: SkyNews reports that Boris Johnson has won. Red Ken is out. Breitbart confirms.
*thick Irish Accent* Hold your horses there now boy-o.
We havent gotten any full results yet. Its looking likely that Red Ken will lose but we know for sure till 00:00 BST.
Overall it has been a great election for conservatives though! They gained 12 councils and 256 councillors while Labour have lost a staggering 331 seats. Boris winning in London will be the icing on the cake!
DLTDHYOTWO, Kenny boy…
Go Tories!

Peter H.
Will this new mayor and conservatives be able to do anything about the creeping radical Islamism in the city?
Why did I instantly know what DLTDHYOTWO means, even though I’ve never seen it before? What cognitive process resolved the available clues, which seem few?
I guess Red Ken can go into exile in Venezuela. Maybe Chavez can get him a nice sinecure in the Ministry of Propaganda.
And we’re supposed to be more like Europe. Well, liberalism just ain’t where it’s at these days.
#4 – ILC, your guess is as good as mine.
Translation of my anagram: “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
Or as my Southern pals say: “Don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you.”

You should read up on old Ken….he’s been around for decades. Pretty interesting that he’s been voted in and out office a few times over the years (Thatcher essentially dismantled the Greater London Council because of him – she couldn’t get him out as leader so she abolished it). I think he’s nuts, but it’s pretty interesting that people are willing to vote him back in at points when unemployment and poverty are on the rise.
