President Evokes Religion In America’s War Goals
I can’t believe that the President of the USA delivered a prayer (!!) to the American people during this worldwide conflict and it was broadcast nationwide! And how come it hasn’t received the attention and scorn from the US Mainstream Media and Liberals across the board??
Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest — until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men’s souls will be shaken with the violences of war.
For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and goodwill among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.
Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.
And for us at home — fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas, whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them — help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice.
Can you believe that this President is so under the influence of the Religious Right that he would dare utter these words and that they would be broadcast to the whole nation! I mean, yeah, the country was attacked and now involved in a global fight against a radical fascism. But how dare the President evoke “saving our religion” and whose job is it of ours to relieve suffering in other nations under a dictator’s rule?
But not a peep from the media when the President made this address!!! How could they miss it???
This is simply a short American history lesson today for you liberal Bush-haters out there.
I wonder if a President Obama would dare use these words in a speech? Or if he would even launch a counterattack at all?

Who attacked us? What country did we invade in response? You gloss over the facts so carelessly. And thank God Obama won’t pray, since religion is just a bunch of made up stories.

Religion is permitted, acc. to the liberal-left, but with an obligatory “all faiths are honorable.”. Religion as afterthought, not guiding thought.

Oh - but if you’re referring to the current war with the Islamo-fascists - There were a bunch of attacks on us, David. Some were committed by al Qaeda, and we invaded Afghanistan in response. And other attacks were committed by Iraq, and we invaded Iraq in response. See how that works?
Do you remember the following attacks on us by Iraq, David T? Perhaps you don’t:
- Iraq attacked no less than four of its neighbors, included three we were pledged to defend as if they were attacks on us.
- Iraq attacked a U.S. President.
- Iraq daily shot down, or tried to shoot down, our planes who were helping to stop Saddam from committing (more) genocide on his own people.
- Oh yeah. And Iraq also supported al Qaeda, those other people who attacked us. You know, like the Germans supported the Japanese?
I guess you want to gloss over all those facts.

Dammit. Once again I was beaten to it, this time by ILC. This is what I get for taking the weekend off to help family…
David T. might want to brush up on his history because FDR’s decision to make the European Theater the primary focus in WWII and the Pacific Theater secondary was very controversial but also proved to be the right course of action in that conflict.

Roosevelt spent the 30’s letting the military rot in place. Our opening operations were in North Africa and they were a disaster. Then, Roosevelt absolutely stranded our guys on Corrigador. After talking out of both sides of his mouth about socialism, communism, fascism, naziism and Japanese imperialism, he got caught with a decimated Pacific fleet and a ragged, coal burning Atlantic fleet.
So, he started “lending” war material to the British. Meanwhile, the Nazi submarine pack nearly controlled our Atlantic coast and sea lanes.
It was a long war between December 1941 and June 1944 and May and August of 1945. Roosevelt finally became a solid wartime president and deserves respect for making the tough choices. But for much of his administration, he was a dud.
Why is Obama the Messiah of liberalism/socialism? After all they are a form of religion based on a bunch of made up stories. The Obama-nation is pure pie in the sky fiction.
